At this point it is a BIG INSULT to compare Salah to the big baby crying mental midget of Argentina

He has had a huge impact on the fortunes of Liverpool Football Club and now Mo Salah’s success is being credited with a fall in Islamophobia.
The Egyptian striker is being linked to changing attitudes towards Muslims on Merseyside. Salah, 26, who scored the opening goal in the Champions League final on Saturday, has helped to raise awareness of his faith since joining the club two years ago, according to research. He kneels in prayer after scoring a goal, his wife is often seen wearing a hijab and his daughter is called Makka in honour of Islam’s holiest site.
The research found that the number of hate crimes on Merseyside since he arrived had fallen by 18.9 per cent but no similar effect was found for other crimes.
“Salah’s rise may have decreased prejudice towards Muslims,” the authors, from the US think tank Immigration Policy Lab, said.
“Salah paints a positive image of Muslims and Islam, and his inclusion in Liverpool FC has contributed to lifting the club and its fans to their highest point in over a decade. Few Muslims in British public life have been as open about their Muslim identity, and as well liked, as Salah”.
The paper said his public image as an agreeable friend, father and team mate may have reduced the perception that Muslims are threatening and made them seem less socially distant from white Britons.
The authors added that the “Salah effect” was unlikely to be unique to him and pointed to Nadiya Hussain, winner of The Great British Bake Off, as another role model who could help to shape social attitudes.
The paper also analysed 15 million tweets by fans of several big clubs. It found that the level of Islamophobic tweets by Liverpool fans was less than half the expected rate, 3.4 per cent against 7.2 per cent.
Imam Atta, director of Tell MAMA, a national project which records anti-Muslim incidents in the UK, said: “Mo Salah’s involvement with Liverpool has shown the wider public and the fans of Liverpool that a footballer who happens to be Muslim is someone that they can relate to, like, admire and adore.
“All of these positive emotions break down barriers. Role models like Mo Salah are key in the struggle against hatred and racism.”
Salah needs to stop being so selfish. Mane was right to be incensed at him.
Big fan of Salah.
He has been an important part of Liverpool for a long time.
I know you live in Toronto but out of interest how big is he as a star in Bangladesh? Do the fooball fans there connect with him being a Muslim football superstar or are they not really interested in him?
There is a FB group called "Mohammed Salah Fans of Bangladesh". Check here: https://www.facebook.com/Mohamed-Salah-Fans-of-Bangladesh-590743091420280/.
Salah has followers there but Messi has more fans.
Why do desi Muslims support Salah due to him being Muslim and do not afford Mané the same love? I get it why Arabs support a fellow arab more but I don’t get why for desis.
Its probably because Salah scores more goals. Also because of his name, many desis do not know that Mane is also a Muslim. I personally like Mane's game more than Salah's.
Mané has outscored Salah over past two seasons so not sure where you’re getting that.
Mane’s dad is actually an Imam Too.

Very simple.
Desis look down on blacks.
Very simple.
Desis look down on blacks.
And look up to Arabs.
I think times are changing, however. Still a deep-rooted issue though.
It's all Muslim brotherhood until a black Muslim wants to marry your Pakistani sister.
There is quite a lot of casual racism in desi culture, and it's mostly directed to blacks, as you say.
On topic, as someone who knows nothing about football, how does Salah rank with those at the top of the world? I'm sure he's up there?
He's very much up there; consistently been the best in the world since moving to Liverpool
Very simple.
Desis look down on blacks.
Not that simple bro , we have Mohammed Ali, Mike Tyson, Pele etc who are well loved by all inc desis.
I dont see the issue, Asians will related to Salah as he looks more like them. Just as Harry Kane is a bigger star for white people compared to how John Barnes was and Barnes was an ATG player.
Its usually immigrants who ask such questions, they have their own insecurities.
I like Salah because he's a LFC player, if he played for Man Utd, I still respect him as a player and person but wouldnt like him for this simple fact.
Have you ever heard of Muhammad Ali? He is probably the most popular sportsperson among “Desis”.
And look up to Arabs.

Those names you mentioned are the highest profile black sportsmen. Even Donald Trump was a huge fan of Ali.
But if we compare two players of similar calibre in the middle of their careers, you'll find Mane would have to be two or three levels above Salah to get same adulation from Desis.
Currently I rate Mane slightly higher than Salah but the latter has a bigger fan following from Desis because not only do we look down on Blacks but as mentioned by Tubs we look up to Arabs. The same can be said about Muslims in general.
This view is also applicable to PP, where we find most Desis express their opposition to the BLM movement which stands against the inequality of blacks.
Liverpool have been plunged into confusion after the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced forward Mohamed Salah has tested positive for coronavirus - before deleting their statement.
Salah is currently on international duty with Egypt, who initially stated on Friday that their star player would have to enter self-isolation.
A now-deleted statement on the EFA website said: "The medical swab conducted on our national football team showed that our player, Mohamed Salah, the star of Liverpool, is infected with coronavirus after his test came back positive, although he does not suffer from any symptoms, while the other members of the team tested negative.
