The PCB have sacked Mohammad Akram as the bowling coach and he will now work as a selector and also as the Head Coach at the National Cricket Academy.

Akram was appointed on a 2 year contract recently by Zaka Ashraf, but finds himself ousted after Pakistan's disappointing World T20 performance.

Sack the employee but put him in another lesser role...yes, this is a recipe for success PCB shytylle

Why do we need to give them other jobs. Oh well as long as he is not our bowling coach i am happy.

This also confirms pretty much that Waqar Younis is gonna take over Head Coach role :)

I rekn he's got an even more important role now.

So now our youngsters will not even be good enough. Lol. Well done PCB.

Take back one role, put him in two roles instead.

Whoever penetrates PCB, gets into the circle, and is never short of a seat there. One or another.

NCA?!?!

The bowlers from that academy are going to be brilliant, I tell you!!

He has 2 more years based on his contract thanks for Mr. :zaka. PCB will have to pay him a lot if they break the contract. I"m sure he will be kicked for good once his time it is up. At least he is not with the team anymore keeping the fact in mind that WC is around the corner. I think it's good for now isn't it?

Sacked. But given another role..a more important role in fact.

Bunch of clowns running our country and our cricket board seriously

The first line makes me want to party hard :108::hamster:, and the second line makes me want to kill myself.

And why are the smilies showing up as flags, and users' avatars are messed up and the top is just row after row of Sachin smilies. It's official, PP has gone haywire.

Good news for the present - sacking him

Bad news for the future - working at the NCA!.

:108: :108: :108: :108: :yahoo :yahoo :yahoo
What's with PCB sacking people and then giving them a higher role tho? :moin :moakram
Why are we seeing him become the head coach of the NCA? Now there's no chance of a bowler to emerge either

Very happy day for Pakistan. Sort of like EID! :D

But .. he's going to ruin the other bowlers trying to hit international stage at NCA!!!

Very poor decision, should've been sacked from PCB! guess he got really strong connections.

If he is so competent to be a head coach at NCA along with being a selector then why did they sack him?

PCB works in mysterious ways.

It doesnt matter if he is "promoted" to the selection committee or whatever they call it these days. The fact of the matter is, Md Akram was seriously lacking the skill to psychologically lift our fast bowlers. I don't blame his credentials. It's all about, either u got it or not! He was the later.

None, I say none of the quickies were lethal as they were back when Waqar was coaching them.

Good move for the fast bowlers

Sack him as bowling coach from the national team.

Make him bowling coach at the NCA?

So basically, he's not good enough for our seniors BUT he's trusted with developing our youngsters into world class bowlers? How does this even make sense for the PCB?

Probably PCB has to pay him a lot if they terminate his contract.

So there is probably an understanding between him and PCB.

If that's so, sensible decision by PCB considering WC 2015 is just 1 year away and a good bowling coach is needed.

Once his contract is over, he will be well and truly thrown out.

Awesome news about sacking, but why has he been given another role?

This explanation makes more sense.

I guess they didn't like his "ideas" regarding the bowling camp before the WC :))

Good idea to sack the cheap coaches but why keep the donkeys Moin and now Akram in another role to do more damage. Fitay mu PCB.

But these clowns made Moin Chief Selector and his contract was over after the T20 World Cup accident.

still on a big fat undeserved contract i suspect.

the pcb is everything wrong with the cricket in the country.

We put too much stock in bowling coaches. Pakistan has been equally bad or good with and without bowling coaches.
In Akrams case, they are going to make better use of him elsewhere as waqar is likely to be reappointed as coach.

Yes... Finally. Man was a cancer to Pakistan's pace attack.

shambolic is the word to describe how pcb runs the national.cricket team
How can you can you shift personnel from one pcb role to the other and over look the question whether they are qualified and right for the role or not

The only job PCB should pay him for is coaching an opposition team.

The guy have two jobs with PCB now and will make more money.

Is this sacking, or promotion?

Just how "intimate" do Sethi and Akram get?

Lahore April 25, 2014: The services of Pakistan Team's bowling coach Mohammad Akram have been placed at the disposal of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Lahore where he will start work as Head Coach with immediate effect.

The decision was made by PCB management in consultation with Mohd Akram in order to strengthen grass roots cricket through additional training camps and procedures for upcoming youngsters. Mohd Akram brings with him international experience which will help strengthen the NCA systems.

Mohd Akram will also work as a member of the National Selection Committee and in future, if required, may also tour with Pakistan teams as bowling coach.

His transfer is part of the restructuring plans of coaches and support staff currently underway with a view to optimising the resources at hand. Mohd Akram's input and expertises in overseeing camps at various levels in Pakistan will be of immense help to our evolving cricket structure.

good decision because our bowlers need someone who is mature and had big game experience

People working for the PCB, be they administrative staff, coaching staff or players, never actually go anywhere when their tenure ends. They just get recycled.

Deserves the boot even though the bowlers themselves are extremely ordinary.

Yes... Finally. Man was a cancer to Pakistan's pace attack.

And now he will spread the cancer amongst our youngsters and ruin our future. Great thinking PCB.

Akram going to coach upcoming youngster.....

Are you kidding me this man is now going to ruin our upcoming bowlers! :69:
The PCB has relieved Mohammad Akram from the role of national bowling coach only to appoint him as head coach of the national cricket academy (NCA).

The PCB said in a statement that the decision was taken "in consultation with Mohammad Akram in order to strengthen grass-roots cricket through additional training camps and procedures for upcoming youngsters". He will work with the national team, the statement said, whenever required.

Akram has also been drafted into a six-man selection committee, headed by Moin Khan, along with former wicketkeeper Saleem Yousaf and batsmen Shoaib Mohammad, Ijaz Ahmed and Wajahatullah Wasti.

Akram, earlier this year, had signed a two-year contract as bowling coach but was facing an uncertain fate with the coaching panel as another former fast bowler Waqar Younis was expected to roll in as head coach of the national team. Now the PCB abolished the role of bowling coach.

The PCB has also announced a six-man selection committee, inducting Wasti who has been working as head coach of departmental team ZTBL and Yousaf, who has been working in the customs department in an executive post.

Shoaib was the fielding coach with Pakistan during the Asia Cup and World T20, while Ijaz is the NCA's fielding coach.

For Yousaf and Shoaib, this is their second stint as a selector, having been involved in 2003 when the committee was headed by Aamir Sohail. Wasti, who last played for Pakistan in 2000, has been coaching on the domestic circuit since he retired from playing in 2010.

The PCB setup has been in extensive transition after the Zaka Ashraf regime. The newly-announced selection committee will be the first full-time panel in the last 10 months after Iqbal Qasim decided to not renew his contract - since then, an interim selection panel has been functioning.

The new selection committee effectively replaces a trio of long-serving members - Azhar Khan, Saleem Jaffar and Farukh Zaman - who had been engaged in selection affairs since 2007.

The selection committee's first assignment will be to pick the squad for the Sri Lanka tour in August this year, following the upcoming summer camp from May 6 to June 6 in Lahore.

Another failure in one job is recycled and given another, every day PCB finds a way to make pakistani cricket even more of a laughing stock.

Those who were celebrating sacking of Akram are now celebrating sacking of Azhar. Fans are never happy with anyone.
