What issues?Think Imad will be the next captain. Was reading on of the editorials on a rival cricket website where the author quotes Imad selectively about certain issues
What issues?
Imad is a relu katta player. Not fit to be a captain.
Maybe Fakhar.

I find Zaman a mentally strong player. Needs to improve his game and be more consistent and careful. He is the man for me.Lol and Fakhar is fit to be captain? You don't make hacks captain.

Amir won't last that long, sadly.
Best option right now would be Imad Wasim and for him to bat in the middle order.
Someone who couldn't make the initial WC squad, should be captain)
Amir had been woeful since 2017 to say the least. A bit of form here doesn't erase his past performances. Making him captain is as bad as continuing with Sarfraz after this debacle.Instead of laughing, better be scared, be very scared to think about who are the custodians of PAK cricket - those didn’t consider someone even in squad now standing like Himalayas in front of mole hills in comparison to those who were picked initially.
Yes, his laboured efforts so far and getting out to either rubbish bowlers or deliveries, make him an astounding candidate for captaincy.PPers might not like this but best option is imam Ul haq. Sample set is limited but I see professional attitude in the way imam carries himself. With limited talent he has made best use of his abilities

Heard he is part of some grouping in the team aswell. Having fun is our Imam![]()
Babar has to take the mantle. Anyone else we make captain only devalues this position. Besides him, no one makes this team on merit sorry.Whether we like him or not he is playing on merit and Pakistan’s 2nd best bat after babar. For me there are 2 possible candidates only
Babar and imam. Making babar captain might have negative impact on his development

I'm not sure how to respond to that. Playing for your country is a privilege, not a right and if Amir is not motivated enough to give a 100% when he steps out on the field wearing that jersey, he needs to be thrown out aswell after this World Cup.As I said in some other thread - he is only class player among those mediocre bunch. I feel, he is simply disgusted to play with his team mates and just can’t motivate himself.
Don't take it as a cheap dig - it happens & it's true. WC or ICC events are such occasions that the event itself brings the competitiveness out of him. When I first came to Canada, my first job was a project coordinator role - something I did as part-time basis in my undergrad days .... trust me, I left that job after few weeks despite not having any other job and I was burning $2K+/month of my savings.... do you know why? Because I couldn’t take it more to explain simple excel file or project charter to my boss and then being bullied to be corrected almost every time, because boss needed to show that he is on top, had all the clues, just was playing with my tail ....
He has his dark past, but Amir deserves better than this PAK team - it’s PCT that needs him more than other way round. Check one of my posts yesterday “... if Amir & Babar has a bad day, it’ll be ugly”. They had a brilliant and a reasonable day.... still it turned vulgar - situation is that desperate.
He won’t last more than 3 to 6 months after his uncle is given P45. And, you probably have noticed that, I don’t mince words for which I am confident. This morning, Hasan Ali proved you something right rather than wrong.

Might be harsh on Babar, but if he is not made captain and someone else is, we will continue to be a laughing stock.
It's unfair, but it's what we need right now. No one else makes this team on merit. We will be in the same position as with Sarfraz. The moment Imad or Amir lose their purple patch, we'll once again be reduced to a joke.He is the ONLY batsman in this team who deserves a 2nd look, but guy’s personality trait is soft. If he is given the hot seat at first go, PAK will lose their only decent batsman. He needs to be walked into that path slowly - officially just 24, 4 years deputy and occasional Captaincy against may be ZIM reserves to get him ready after 2023 WC, may be even before that if he learns to walk at faster rate.
Appointing Babar Captain will be a bigger disaster than appointing an unfit, over weight, over aged, not good at core job WK as Captain into his “official” 30s. Isn’t it enough yet?
Mohammad Amir's tainted past disqualifies him to hold the top position by default. Just the way the cookie crumbles am afraid.
On merit he should survive because he’s better than his competition. I firmly believe imam has ability to prosper as a decent test opener and he should play Odis unless someone better emerges. He shouldn’t be discarded for likes of Shehzad, Masod etc because he’s completely better than them
3 out 400 good days and he should be our next captain. MashAllah. Solid logic.
He clearly has an issue where he mentally checks out when stakes aren’t high. He always revs himself up for big matches.
So perhaps the responsibility that captaincy brings will make him more consistent
As is it is just an idea. We do not have many options to begin with

We need players who want to play for Pakistan and genuinely want to make us a force in world cricket. Improve and motivate themselves to touch new heights, which will indirectly benefit the team in the long run. Even with our destroyed domestic cricket set-up, this is still achievable. But what we are getting now are do number ke shodaybaaz, who stop working hard the moment they achieve even a bit of a success.
I'm sorry but Amir just cannot be that individual, who motivates his players to challenge themselves. I can only see Babar Azam do that, since he is someone who can play a level above the rest of these jokers.
Not manay successful bowlers captain came on Earth
imad should be made captain and his role should be changed to a batting all rounder who bats at 5?why this guy bats low is beyond me?
Selfish azam who bats only for himself to be the national captain? He has akmal DNA, don't forget. Zaman is the answer.
Something I and MMHS have been asking for since a long time.
He's a natural choice. Good cricketing brain and the best bowler.
Been a long time since we had a bowler as captain.
I worry about his workload though and don't think he can play all the test matches. So for now maybe avoid being the Test captain.
In my 1st innings (of career), I raised enviously fast.... at a very tender age I had to manage/handle teams (not people - separate work groups). So, I had to manage several people in a matrix structure and had to get job done others.
Among several personality traits, I found two distinctively unique groups - first one is capable, but bunkers, you allow them a little space ... they’ll spend 2 hours in Facebook/IG and come back with excuses. 2nd group is brilliant, but often gets bored too early.
I got them engaged in two ways - chain for 1st group - give them measurable tasks with time line, follow up progress and make them accountable to deliver in time- that’s micro management at the harshest degree ..... then allow them a little space for FB/IG or a bit flattering with the ladies... 2nd group is rare, but you have to keep them engaged always - give them responsibility and NEVER micro manage, rather empower them, give ownership - they’ll find a way to deliver. These people are often egoistic crazy - give them average job, they’ll create a mess and you’ll start to avoid them next time in crisis. Give them ownership to complete something in their own way - often they’ll raise their level & delight you.
My hunch is Babar is in first group - very good at his task but needs contestant monitoring. He needs to be groomed into a leadership role by constant mentoring, guiding and reminding. His current level is at scolding that pretty lady Zainab for a bad joke ..... But, once managing responsibilities are into his habit, he can be a very good captain.
I believe, Amir is in 2nd group - responsibilities & ownership will bring best out of him. One of my best managers was almost laid off because no one wanted to have him in team - aloof, often moody (would love to work things that he likes, not priority needs), but brilliant in his task if he puts his mind into it. So CCO told me if I could “mentor” the guy a bit, because he had a soft corner for the guy, wanted to keep him. I had a fifteen minutes chat and found that guy will break but won’t bend. So, I identified few tasks that he is good at, attached two of my very loyal junior guys with him ... and gave him a long span of time ...... I need this, this, this & this to be done by next weekend; these are two guys you can use ..... I am off for this week, so you’ll have to do it on your own - work independently, at your comfort but please don’t let me down in front of boss. Responsibilities made that guy trigger like horny stag ... and he became one of my best project managers - any unique, troublesome task that most will avoid, this guy would almost snatch it.

Have you seen his average? He has an decent technique to bat at the middle over ,he is not an finisher he is an proper middle order batsman who can take away the game once he is set,his hitting is very similar to david miller ,who is very strong down the ground. The management should groom him as an batsman not a bowler.Oh yeah, that one six he hit in the England series proved he is a proper batsman. Imad has gotten enough chances with the bat and still looks like a fish out of water while batting. You sure you can read the name on the scoreboard and jersey correctly?
Has Amir ever captained a side ? If he is considered to be a candidate then atleast let him test out in PSL etc first.
However i feel Imam-Ul-Haq might get the post soon enough.
Shaan Masood - He speaks good english
Honestly, wouldn't mind someone educated as a leader...wish Shaan had cemented a place in the team

+1
Yes please, Fakhar has Navy service experience and knows the rigors of discipline and fitness. Responsibility will definitely give him bigger perspective to conduct the team business.
