"Mohammad Amir is the most skilful bowler I've faced" : Steve Smith

I still think Amir is missed as much for his batting as his bowling.

Imagine having him at Number 9 in England......

His batting has declined just like Stuart Broad’s

Amir is probably the only guy in the world who wears a chest pad also

He just doesn't have the fire or the desire anymore. When he does, you can clearly see why people like Smith and Kohli rate him so much.

Australia v Pakistan, 2019 World Cup

Mohammad Amir 10-2-30-5
Economy rate 3.00
Strike Rate 12.0

The Rest: 40-0-267-5
Economy rate 6.68
Strike Rate 48.0

And I’m saying he bowls 140kph, how is that trundling?

What you're saying is wrong though. He hasn't bowled even semi-regularly at 140kph for the last year or two. Was regularly in the 130-138kph range in the World Cup, the T20s against Australia and the PSL. Contrast this with him consistently being 140kph+ with the odd delivery above 150kph in LOI matches in Australia as a teenager

Steven Smith has praised Ravindra Jadeja very recently as well and called him one of the toughest bowlers in subcontinent to face.

He is no doubt in Asian condition his record is clear.

Our star bowler is not taking wickets. Nothing else matters.

You can call him the best or the best ever.

Indians produced one bowler in its 5000 year history who could bowl 6 deliveries in a row above 86mph, and they now want to give it large about trundling :)) :))

I have no problem with our trundlers in the past even though that seems to be a thing of the past now in Indian cricket anyways given our current line up and the upcoming youngsters.

In fact dare I say I love our trundlers. They have given me some of the greatest moments as an Indian fan

Kapil Dev and his army of trundlers demolishing the mighty WI in 1983.

In 1992 Javagal Srinath bowling Miandad with a yorker and then Sachin who obviously owned Pakistan many a times with the bat as well at times with his spin bowling, also got in a man of the match level allround performance with his dibbly dobbly Seam ups.

1996 the infamous Sohail-Prasad encounter

Sahara cup- Ganguly getting 2 5frs against Pakistan line up :))

1999- Sir Venky with yet another man of the match performance

2003- India was said to have one of the best bowling attacks in the tournament. Even though our “trundlers” let us down in the final, they gave some outstanding performances to get us there.

2004 jeet lo dil - Bala and Irfan. Enough said

2007 WT20- Joginder Sharma Lol

2011- Still remember Razzaq’s face after having no clue against Munaf’s leg cutter/spinner

Our trundlers have won more tests than Pakistan in South Africa. Won a series in Australia.

Anyways forget on field moments, in fact our trundlers like TA Sekhar,B.Arun,Madan Lal etc etc have contributed a lot to Indian cricket.

TA Sekhar is a major contributor to the MRF academy which has changed the face of how India produced and trained fast bowlers.

I would not even trade a single Indian trundler even the one at the bottom of the barrel for the top most Pakistani bowler leave alone Drug Addicts and Fixers like Amir and Asif. Those are not harsh words but facts.

Why would I trade these people who have built an outstanding legacy of on field and off field contributions to make Indian cricket an empire for a couple of criminals who play for an average side run by a mediocre administration.

In fact PCB might benefit by picking couple of Indian trundlers, trust me Pak will start winning more.

Well done for the emotional post, I read it with a tear in my eye.

I hope Smith admits Bhuvneshwar Kumar is the ATG bowler he has ever faced in his autobiography after he retires just to make you happy.

Good even if it struck a chord or touched a nerve I take that as a win for the both of us.

This is high praise coming from the best test player in the world and one of the best of all time.

Tbh even as a Pakistan fan I have to admit India has done better with these trundlers since the 2000s. Sure we have much better fast bowlers but I like the discipline and consistentcy of the Indian pacers. They have won tests in Aus and SA, which I dream of for Pakistan.

Pakistan have botched Tests in these locations. They have not been completely overhauled as the post may suggest.

Amir used to be a sensational bowler back in 2010 and has shown glimpses of his talent against the best in business.

Ultimately when two of the best in the game are praising you, then you have something special about you, even if you’re not consistent and have shown this talent only in short bursts. His spell against India in his comeback T20 WC is one such example.

Shame that he quit test cricket to focus on shorter formats. But to be honest, he was yet to showcase the same talent in tests since his comeback. After all he knew more about his game than us and Kohli/Smith.

Skilful, clever, very good, match-winner at times.

However can a guy who only played 36 Tests be classed a great bowler?

In my book, no. But I’m afraid that the new generation doesn’t care about test cricket as much we do.

Don't forget Rana/JK owning Indians in India or Hansie/Razzaq owning SRT.

Lols. PCB is incompetent and has 0 planning, but still Pak bowling legacy is undeniable.
