Mohammad Hafeez added to the Pakistan Test squad for the 2-match series against Australia

Is it the right decision to add Mohammad Hafeez to the Test squad?

RIP selection committee, take one step forward and 2 steps backward. What is the need of Hafeez when you have better options available like Agha Salman, iftikhar, etc.

I'd rather have him not bowl until the World Cup.

He can chuck a few balls here and there and help us win.

Considering the number of Left handers in Aussies team , hafeez bowling would be useful.

I have the same worry.

We need him for the World Cup and I hope he does not get reported in this series. Mickey knows his side is bad, and Aussies are strong so he pressed this panic button.

He'll be useful against the left handers but world cup is more important!

15 votes as yes in the pole :dw
Pak cricket isn't moving in right direction

Definitley awful decision. They were clearly looking for a allround option, not just a spinner. The first name that came into there mind was Hafeez. Now personally I would have a preferred Zafar over Hafeez and Bilal but clearly they want someone more able with the bat.

At the end of the day, it's a pragmatic & sensible decision to recall Hafeez. Make no mistake, this Aussie team can beat a Pakistan team & captain low on confidence at present.

A balanced attack of Abbas, Hasan Ali or Wahab, Yasir, Shadab & Hafeez will cause the Aussie's batting problems. Make no mistake we need to win our test series's at 'home' as that is what most of the strong international teams are doing right now. Do I think Hafeez should play test matches outside Asia or the UAE? No, but he is the right man at the right place in October 2018.

Indeed.

He can retire after the World Cup.

They should look to keep him from bowling until the World Cup.

He can chuck the odd ball here and there and help us win.

Poor decision to go back to Hafeez. Pakistan batting did reasonably well in England without him. They would have done well in UAE as well.

I agree with this decision.

Hafeez is an excellent all-rounder in Tests.

It's good to have at least one senior player in the team.

Pak. have Malik in LOIs and Hafeez in Tests.

Good decision as long as Hafeez plays at #6/#7.

so you don't consider guys like Azhar, Asad and Yasir to be 'Seniors'

LOL ..... a little more LOL ....... :)))

I tip my hat off to the visionary Inzamam.

Hafeez is obviously not a solution for long term but in the current series his bowling can be very handy knowing that Australia will come prepared and would have done their homework on Yasir Shah. Also, it will be interesting to see that if he does end up being part of the playing 11 where in the batting order will he come.

He is a decent player of spin, and can be handy dealing with Nathan Lyon on these pitches. The team management might also be thinking in terms of the world cup to perhaps have a second option available in the team in case shadab loses form or is unable to perform.

Fact is Mickey is clueless in UAE.
We remember, how SL badly beaten us last year in tests. We were winning, thats good, but some of his decisions baffles me.
1) Kept on playing Amir
2) Too early induction of Shaheen Afridi; we have 4/5 same kind of left armers [Usman/Amir/Junaid/Shaheen]
3) Too much love for Mr. Nawaz
4) Almost zero middle order batsmen in the team, Sarfaraz can't bat, and Malik can't outside Asia
5) T20 hack Asif Ali, is being thought of as mainstay of middle and lower batting order

its a good decision but question remain the same that at which position in batting he will play. personally i want him to play at no 6
