Once ODI became the major force in Cricket pedigree, Australia changed their policy of WK & I still think that's the best.
"Among the FC WK of the country, the best one with the gloves, REGARDLESS of his batting, 'll play in Test & the best one with the bat 'll play the ODI".
Even Phillips lost his place to Dyer/Joerar before they got someone best in both - Ian Hilly. Gilly started his ODI career about 7-8 years earlier than Test career & by '99, had Hilly not lost his keeping touch, I can guarantee, Gilly would have played Test as a specialist bat, not as a keeper over Hilly.
& I think this summer, Haddin is going to to loose his ODI place to Wayne (Or Wayte, that Victorian southpaw). PCB had that option to maintain a great competition between the ODI Keeper (Moin) & Test keeper (Latif) for a decade, which would have improved both's weaker side, unfortunately they failed to understand the ACB selection policy.
