Mohammad Nawaz : Not the all-rounder we deserve, but the all-rounder we need | Take a bow

Immensely under-rated due to favouritism towards Imad who has done nothing apart from keeping the RR down by bowling 24 left arm Yorkers from that angle.

Nawazey other hand is a clean bloody striker and left arm spinner with variations.

Pluck out any PSL stats and you will know nawaz has at least played in 2 finals and been a key member for QD.

As always nepotism and politics is destroying us from seeing the best 11 we have.

I just hope come t20 we actually go with the players who can boast and prove form with skills.

He should have been considered it’s not a one off performance he was clutch throughout bpl

Decent spinner. Need to start scoring some runs to get a look again. Not too far from a comeback.

Not good enough for international standards.

People, please.

Flattered to deceive.

Looked ok in small parts, largely flopped.

Move on.

As mediocre as they come, he can hardly bat, as proven by his test average. Hope we never see him in a Pakistan shirt again, unless he makes some crazy improvement.

Needs to start delivering with the bat regularly. He is a decent 5th 6th spin bowling option for LOIs but not someone who can be a front line spinner and currently this role has been taken by Imad who has showed pretty decent hitting ability at the end.

He cannot be worse than Shadab. He definitely deserves a few opportunities when that good for nothing golden boy has been given a free ride for 3 years.

The likes of Nawaz and Gohar have clearly suffered because of the extreme overhyping of Shadab.

Nawaz was the find of PSL1 and Shadab of PSL3. The issue is you can’t have 2 left arm spinners in a bowling line up with 2 left arm pacers (Amir & Shaheen). Shadab, Hassan Ali, and Faheem got a free ride under Mickey because they were right arm bowlers who could bat a bit.

Nawaz is one who can extract turn he is way better than imad wasim as a bowler but he is not given enough chances

Extremely average player with very coward mentality. He would always be a liability , should be kept away from the team . No comparison with Imad who has won some matches for pak team.

Dear me, this guy's bowling has gone downhill.

In the National T20 Cup only 6 wickets and his economy rate was an awful 9.45.

Nawaz has to be appreciated in this series for two reasons. First he bowled well throughout and with accuracy which is what we expect from him in T20s, secondly he has improved his nerves while batting a bit which were visible in his initial days on Pak shirt and scored some crucial runs in the decider.

Damn, hasn't quite lived up to the hype but shouldn't be discarded just yet.

He's back with a bang, can he remain consistent? Given that this thread was opened six years ago.

He won the match for Pakistan with his batting and bowling. He has improved a lot.

Top all-round performance from Nawaz. His best display in a Pakistan shirt.

Easily my motm.

He descended from hell and took the game away before India knew it.

Goes to show we need to trust our resources.

Nawaz is an AR and look what responsibility brought out in him.

Hardworking player despite being on the sidelines for a long time whilst having a captain who only shouted at him for every boundary conceded

Most of us knew of his batting potential, but never fully saw it on the international stage.

Just like Gohan, he’s finally come into his element. :inti

Utterly outstanding. Phenomenal. Brilliant. Stunning. No amount of superlatives can describe the brilliance of Nawaz today. I’m gobsmacked.

He will get the limelight now. Superstar performance.

Nawaz and Shadab is a dream combination for any captain.

A remarkable all-round performance. Even more so with the bat.

Truly the all-rounder we need!

A truly spectacular all-round performance. Take a bow!!

One of the most clutch performance one will see in Pak-Ind contest. Absolutely stunning stuff. 1-25 and 42 off 26.

Irrespective of how he finishes his career this all round performance will remain part of memories and and history of Pak vs Ind encounters.

He is Jadeja on steroids in T20Is. Don't drop him and don't expect too much from him either. He will silently do his job and you will only realise it once he misses any game due to an injury/fitness issue. :inti

Looked like a proper T20 batsmen today , the 6 he hit of Hardik was phenomenal and almost felt like Rohit Sharma 6. Should bat at no.4 permanently

Have always maintained that he far better then Imad and it should today. Mom for me.

Credit where credit is due. Pakistan's think tank took a chance on him based on the situation of the match and didn't stick to their usual robotic plans that were decided before the start of the match.

And Nawaz lived up to the expectations in every way.

42 off 20 only not 26 🙂.

I agree this performance becomes part of folklore.

He is upgraded version of Imad Wasim. Better batsman, better bowlers and better fielder than Imad. He need to utilise higher up the order

Pakistan wasted so much on that poor player imad Wasim who is neither a bowler nor a batsman.
It's Nawaz's time now. He just gonna get better with bat.
He is already much better with the ball.
Sky is the limit for this guy.

He repaid the managements trust. He changed the game in Pakistan's favour.

Nawaz bhai, take a bow! I am your new fan. Love you. What an innings. Man of the match for me. You beauty.

Absolutely, i used to think Imad is better but i totally changed my mind today. Both Imad and Nawaz can work for the Pakistani team though in the playing 11.

Respect

That was a Shakib Al Hassan performance today!

Absolute class

Excellent innings under immense pressure. Changed the flow of our innings and going forward it will give us more options because we are 2 batsman short in the top 6

Going forward teams will take his batting seriously. India were caught by surprise from him.

You can tell he is a cricketer who wants to improve and puts in the hard yards.

His bowling is consistent, his batting is improving and so is his fielding.

Keep up the good work.

Finally doing justice to the allrounder tag this year.

See us home my friend.

Blinder specialist and already won us a couple high profile games with his batting.

Plays both sides of wicket, has a decent number of shots and times it amazing when it's his day.

I hope Nawaz is made skipper for his PSL franchise and kept an eye on. This guy is improving and he's got a steady head. Invaluable.

Original breakout star from the PSL until Shadab stole his thunder. But Nawaz is very good and well done to the selectors for slotting him into the XI at the right time.

Best way to describe him! Also love that he can hit against pace

Over the last 2 years he- without many other power hitting option around, he makes your best t20 team on the strength of his striking alone. He's done quite well and vs some decent opposition (India, SA, NZ) as well. That's tick box one for an allrounder.

His bowling does the job required more often than not. I certainly haven't seen better spinners left out because he's playing. Seems to have enough nous to be able to carry his style across conditions and pretty calm about his work.

Could be a key player at #4 if he can bat in Oz too.
