Mohammad Rizwan vs Mohammad Haris – Is the comparison even justified anymore?

Who should be Pakistan's first-choice wicketkeeper in T20Is?

If Rizwan comes in the set up pakistan will have 3 consolidators in the middle order. All 3 are right handers. Feast for left arm spinners, wrist spinners.
Playing 3 consolidators in T20 cricket would be suicidal.

Jab aggressors M Haris, Azam Khan aur Usman Khan jaise hon, tou consolidators hi theek hain.
1 or 2 consolidators are enough, 3 would be too much. You can't win T20 matches against top teams by scoring 150.

Call me when Rizwan scores 100 off 45 balls.

I don’t care about career stats, just peaks

Well, it’s not like we play to win

We play to make fans happy.

Yes and those two are RizBar.

Agha has no place in T20s I am afraid
Some random bloke says you need 2 accumulators and your gullible tashreef believes him?

Tone down!

Agha is staying! Pakistan cricket team isn’t set up to make looney tunes fans happy. That era is over.

So what's latest in this wicket keeper battle ??

Rizwan v Haris v Usman v Haseebullah

Who's on plane to Colombo.

Neither should be in squad. We have invested in Usman recently and he should be given the world cup or have Khawaja as a wildcard.

Haris fielding efforts v India was unforgivable.

Agree.

Nafay kept in the last game. Also, his strike-rate is pretty good.

Nafay or Usman should be the T20 keeper.

First time in a long time that Pakistan seem to have a problem in wicketkeeping and none of the options look attractive.

Rizwan is woefully out of form. He is still the best keeping option but hasn't played for a while and seems to be out of favor. Also with Babar in the squad picking Rizwan will be suicidal unless Rizwan bats down the order in a finisher role which he has never done and there is little evidence that he is capable of it.

Haris is and has always been a lottery. If he had even a shred of common sense he could have easily cemented his position in the team but time and again he has thrown it away. Given the lack of options i'd still be tempted to pick him given he is a specialist keeper but i feel the management's patience has run out.

Both Usman and Nafay are a gamble but the management seems to have decided that they'll go with one of them and I don't think it'll make much of a difference who gets picked.

After the WC we should look for long term specialist options.

Usman has been picked as the fall guy, they expected him to fail paving the way for a Rizwan return under the guise of “Vell ve have no one better”. Usman although not stellar has done a workmanlike job and kept him out. Now they are clutching on to the inevitable knock out in the world t20 and theyll bring him back under that same guise.

As for Nafay, they’re not serious about him. If they were, they could have given him some extended chances vs both SL and Aus. This was just for optics

Rizwan is not coming back on a few counts:

- He fell out w/ Hesson in the Windies away tour because he wanted full control over the ODI lineup and Hesson wasn’t having it. It’s the reason why Riz isn’t ODI captain anymore.

- the board themselves aren’t Riz fans after his comments about ignoring PCB comments wasn’t caught on camera in the Champions Trophy period.

Another thing that precludes Riz coming back to the T20 team, is timing. He’s had a terrible BBL. If InshAllah the U19 lads get to the semis of the ongoing WC, the PCB will start succession planning w/ Hamza Zahoor in mind. During this time you’ll also see two other young keeper candidates emerge, who’ll get games in the PSL:
a) Former U19 captain and current QEA trophy top run scorer Saad Baig,
b) young Abdul Qadir (a travelling reserve w/ the U19s who just missed out based on being aged out and per the domestic u19 tournament, has the highest s/r as a no.7 hitter

We’ll also see a full season of Nafay with the gloves in PSL and who knows how a slimmer Azam Khan looks in PSL11.

However, Riz has to be the test keeper because he’s the best gloves man we have. And that same reasoning is why he also is the incumbent in ODIs.

Pakistan’s standout quality as a team will continue to be wicket taking bowlers and you need the best keeper to complement that. He’s also decent in the middle order in ODIs, an area of weakness in Pakistan whiteball sides.

But to reaffirm, he isn’t anywhere near the thinking for T20s by the selectors and nor should he be, on merit and form alone.

Stop doing bhangra over once in a blue moon knock of Usman Khan... I hope he becomes more consistent, but his past has been pathetic to say the least..

People also did bhagra over farhan's 2 sixes but now farhan feels like under pressure. Chill... let them play

That’s what we said

LET THEM PLAY

It’s you who didn’t let the youngsters play and grow in international cricket!

Ok that’s over the top. Did he personally go and stop them growing? Or sent diktats to PCB ordering them to stop youngsters from growing?

This is a forum and all we do here is chat / blow hot air.

Dont wanna get emotional as emotions shouldn't influence selections BUT I found it weird that fans aren't willing to back a lad who turned down money and a first world lifestyle to play for Pakistan. Who despite his limitations gives it his all. Sure it shouldn't cloud the judgement of selectors but such players usually get goodwill from fans. Our fans have the knives out for him as soon as he steps onto the pitch and are ready to point and laugh at him when he gets out. I've never understood this mentality.

He is a poor guy, not parchi and selected on merit after grinding hard and bringing himself to selection in PSL via BPL performances.

Great to see both useless out of team

Nafay is the future
Azam khan when fit comes back - both can play in middle order .
