As per Numbeo Pakistan is the most cheapest country to live in.

The cost of living in Pakistan is notably lower compared to many other countries. This includes expenses such as housing, food, and transportation, which collectively contribute to a more affordable lifestyle.

Affordable housing options are prevalent in Pakistan, and the cost of property and rent tends to be lower compared to many other countries. This accessibility to reasonably priced housing further contributes to the overall affordability and attractiveness of living in Pakistan.

Which other country do you think is notably cheaper and easier to live in?

Thailand , Nepal , Bhutan would be preferred.
I find Thailand a bit expensive but Nepal and Bhutan are very affordable but only for tourists because problem is that the income per capita is very low there which makes life much more difficult for the locals.

If you want a good quality of life and affordability, you can’t go wrong with Malaysia. Definitely enjoyed my time there.

Massive and beautiful mosques within walking distance, you have access to the entire world’s cuisine. Whichever part of the world’s food you want, you can get, and of very high quality too. Not to mention how good Malaysian cuisine is itself. Not at all expensive.

It is tropical weather, so a lot of rain, but it’s also very beautiful. Tropical forests are preserved, a lot of exotic animals and plants and well developed cities with transport. Kuala Lumpur is comparable to Hong Kong if you need a visual.

Highly suggest it.

It has to be Pakistan for sure. Haven't had the chance to visit other countries but have been following many vloggers and travel enthusiasts who repeatedly say the same.

I think central Asia (i.e. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan) is the cheapest region in the world considering the level of development. I'm sure some country in sub-Saharan Africa is probably cheaper in nominal terms but doesn't really matter if there are no roads and people are living in mud huts.

Well in my view, Pakistan is such country and also Russia used to be one before Ukraine War.

Interesting.

I was expecting more African countries there.

Malaysia is one of it. Indonesia also has some facilities but for someone from subcontinent, Malaysia is more preferable.

Based on what I have seen, third world countries are more affordable than first world countries.

Have to agree as I have a Peer bhai in my social circle who travels all over the world with his jamaat and was recently back from Uzbekistan and said it was dirt cheap.

You have to remember these ex soviet satellite states were closed off to the rest of the world and have just started opening up.

I hardly have any knowledge on what to look for when wanting to live in a new country, but this list clearly tells us that we cant just look at cost of living as the main factor.

Of course, the likes of India and Pakistan are cheaper. A fun way to look at it is always the Big Mac index

Pakistan's the cheapest Big Mac in the world.

Wow! Turkey is quite affordable. I don't mind living in Turkey.

a lot of them, Nepal is the only South Asian country to have more people moving in than moving out.
Seriously? I am astounded. Judging by the vast number of Nepali people who recently moved to the US and living where I am, I am amazed there could be more people moving into Nepal.

Why is Nepal such an attractive destination for foreigners?

Well in my view, Pakistan is such country and also Russia used to be one before Ukraine War.
Nope. Russia was as almost as expensive as any Western European country even before the war. Their capital Moscow used to be even more expensive than London or Paris.

Yep I was referring to Russia on the eastern side of Ural Mountains.

When we talk about low cost of living countries, you also have to look at the standard of living and culture.

From what I see, many Westerners try to retire in Thailand. Low cost of living, decent infrastructure and very tolerant culture. Beautiful beaches too and nice tropical weather with plenty of greenery. I know some folk here who do not have much of retirement savings are planning on moving to Thailand. $500k goes a long way in Thailand. In US, it is nothing.

Peace of mind, spiritual I suppose, there are lot of Nepalis in Dallas and LA too.
Nepal in 1990s had as much tourism as France, their politics destroyed the nation.
Also have to say the quality of food in Nepal, Bhutan and Sikkim(India’s organic state) is still very very good , could be due to less corruption/corporations.

Nepali wave of immigrants happened due to Earthquake where US govn gave them TPS visa, before that there weren’t as many.

Well... don't know much about Nepal but judging by the Nepali people coming here, apparently they didn't get a lot of peace of mind in their home country. I see 10-15 living in one house here. They were the primary culprits behind the spread of COVID in our area because of that. It was pretty bad!

I also see a lot of Bhutanese who came here by way of Nepal. So first they got sick of Bhutan and immigrated to Nepal and then they ran out of there and came here on asylum visas. There is a whole community of them. I always thought because of that that Nepal is not exactly a go to destination for foreigners. I guess I have been wrong.

They have protected visa status for now , they have the easiest route to come to USA among any south Asian country.

Nepal hasn’t been that good since earth quake 2014, there are many Nepalis in India too, doing odd jobs as a chef , security guard etc.. but doesn’t mean many people don’t reside in Nepal.

Bhutan and Nepal don’t get along overall, Bhutan actually exiled a lot of Nepalis from their land in 1998, big controversy and honestly very racist(my opinion), so am surprised to see Bhutanese coming from Nepal, Bhutan overall enjoys good living quality of nature.

There are just a visible minority, that’s why one notices them, mostly blue collar so you would meet them at restaurants, autoshops, meat shops etc

for me Pakistan is still way cheaper compared to many other countries specially in food.

Actually, you know I am going to call you out on that. I got curious and started digging and Nepal shows up nowhere on any such stats that you are claiming.

Most countries that show up on the list are European or Australia/ KSA.

Never mind @JaDed, I see you mentioned within South Asia, Nepal is the only country with net in flow of population.

Seriously? I am astounded. Judging by the vast number of Nepali people who recently moved to the US and living where I am, I am amazed there could be more people moving into Nepal.

Probably lots of Indians from other states I imagine.

These are definitely the better countries..just among South Asians Nepal is extremely underrated, the white folks though love Nepal and I have to say personally I like it too, the quality is really good although I ve only been to east side.
