I find Thailand a bit expensive but Nepal and Bhutan are very affordable but only for tourists because problem is that the income per capita is very low there which makes life much more difficult for the locals.

If you want a good quality of life and affordability, you can’t go wrong with Malaysia. Definitely enjoyed my time there.

Massive and beautiful mosques within walking distance, you have access to the entire world’s cuisine. Whichever part of the world’s food you want, you can get, and of very high quality too. Not to mention how good Malaysian cuisine is itself. Not at all expensive.

It is tropical weather, so a lot of rain, but it’s also very beautiful. Tropical forests are preserved, a lot of exotic animals and plants and well developed cities with transport. Kuala Lumpur is comparable to Hong Kong if you need a visual.

Highly suggest it.

I think central Asia (i.e. Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan) is the cheapest region in the world considering the level of development. I'm sure some country in sub-Saharan Africa is probably cheaper in nominal terms but doesn't really matter if there are no roads and people are living in mud huts.

Have to agree as I have a Peer bhai in my social circle who travels all over the world with his jamaat and was recently back from Uzbekistan and said it was dirt cheap.

You have to remember these ex soviet satellite states were closed off to the rest of the world and have just started opening up.

When we talk about low cost of living countries, you also have to look at the standard of living and culture.

From what I see, many Westerners try to retire in Thailand. Low cost of living, decent infrastructure and very tolerant culture. Beautiful beaches too and nice tropical weather with plenty of greenery. I know some folk here who do not have much of retirement savings are planning on moving to Thailand. $500k goes a long way in Thailand. In US, it is nothing.

Peace of mind, spiritual I suppose, there are lot of Nepalis in Dallas and LA too.
Nepal in 1990s had as much tourism as France, their politics destroyed the nation.
Also have to say the quality of food in Nepal, Bhutan and Sikkim(India’s organic state) is still very very good , could be due to less corruption/corporations.

Well... don't know much about Nepal but judging by the Nepali people coming here, apparently they didn't get a lot of peace of mind in their home country. I see 10-15 living in one house here. They were the primary culprits behind the spread of COVID in our area because of that. It was pretty bad!

I also see a lot of Bhutanese who came here by way of Nepal. So first they got sick of Bhutan and immigrated to Nepal and then they ran out of there and came here on asylum visas. There is a whole community of them. I always thought because of that that Nepal is not exactly a go to destination for foreigners. I guess I have been wrong.

These are definitely the better countries..just among South Asians Nepal is extremely underrated, the white folks though love Nepal and I have to say personally I like it too, the quality is really good although I ve only been to east side.
