Most Embarrassing Home Defeat Ever in Test Cricket?

Pakistan has drearth of talent and on top of that Shadab is either not fit enough for test cricket or he doesnt want to play test cricket. He was probably pakistans one last hope for a test all roynder who could average in early thirties with both bat and ball. Nawaz is not the answer , not good enough with either bat or ball.

We were told that saman agha will play as an all rounder ,he hardly bowled whereas joe root was picking wickets.

Zahid mehmood is 35 years old and he has no control over the length he bowled. If he hasnt learnt to control his length then he never will.

Weldone and congratulations to Abrar.
He seems like one of the mystery bowlers who come and enjoy early success and then fade away. I will pray that he proves me wrong and have a wonderful fruitful career.

England's series win against India in India in 2012-13. England won the second test by 10 wickets and third by 7 wickets. :inti

Losing to Australia wasn't that bad. Australia can defeat all countries in their backyards.

But, losing to England at home is disappointing. England are generally not great in Asia.

England are now the only team to win a test series in India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan since January 2012.

They are the best team while touring in Asia.

Beating Sri Lanka is not a big deal anymore. Even Bangladesh won a Test in Colombo in 2017. Zimbabwe also almost beat Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka (one off Test).

I think Australia are better than England on paper. Their spin attack is better; Lyon is better than all English spinners.

Anyhow, I think losing to England at home is a bit surprising for a team like Pakistan.

So 26 runs at the end but the gulf between two sides is unimaginable

I don't agree. They can afford to miss star players and we cant- that's the only difference.
Shaheen is putting us in a series lead if he was fit- and that is with misfits like nawaz Zahid Ali agha in the eleven

On a positive note even with such rubbish squad Pakistan fought tooth and nail with Eng though its a stain on our proud record :misbah2

A better pitch narrowed the gap between Pakistan and Eng.

It was a good game.

A slight over rating of Australia.

A slight under rating of England.

Look at the records over the last 15 years or so and IMO you would change your view of this one.

I am convinced now that Pakistan is at the same level as SriLanka in test cricket.
They lost two matches where they were completely outplayed despite the narrow difference in the second test.

Will this be the worst one?

If only the players, the coach and entire management were feeling embarrassed about this.
Unfortunately, I don't think they care. For them Test Cricket just an add on. The money for them is in T20's.

Shameful.

Why is the mindset such ?
Pakistan are a proud cricket nation with rich history of achievements in this format. Why have they given up on the format all so of sudden ?

Why bother? PSL is still the best T20 league in the world and Babar is the best batsman across formats and it is all that matters to the fans.

Match results don't matter much, winning and losing is part of the game.

I am not sure when non-minnows got whitewashed in 3 or more tests at home last time?

Not done yet, but heading in that direction.

Atleast one test could be drawn. First one. No demons on the surface all 5 days. England attack was weak with that poor off spinner. Root bowled the majority of overs. Stokes didn't bowl much.

People who were crying about the pitch & blaming Ramiz for producing flat wickets have gone quiet now.

The curators produced two perfectly okay wickets that had enough juice for the bowlers & Pakistan have been stuffed.

Our fans will cling to any excuse that would prevent them from admitting that the team is just not good enough.
RedwoodOriginal kept telling us that Pakistan will roll England over if the pitches have spin. Multan & Karachi had spin. What happened?

Brother Mamoon, the reason many, including me, suggested turners was because Pakistan's pace bowlers look worse than BD seamers currently.

This series proved that you need quality seamers to win in Pakistan.

Vaas when SL won in 95
Simon Doull when NZ drew in 96
Pollock and co. when SA won in 97
Olonga, Mbangwa and Streak when ZIM won in 98
Cummins in 2022 when OZ won
Wood, Jimmy and Ollie with this win

It's all been pace

Other times it's been a balanced effort with Macgill and Mcgrath winning it for OZ in 98

Giles and Gough winning it for England in 2000

Kumble and Pathan winning it for India in 2004

Dilhara Fernamdo and Herath drawing a series on 2004

Paul Harris and Steyn winning it for SA in 2007

Only time spin alone won a series was when Murali destroyed Pakistan in early 2000. That's it

Basically, Pakistan's pace attack has been massively overrated at home since atleast since 1995 and currently it is borderline minnow level.

Without better pacers, Pakistan will continue to lose at home to competent sides :inti

Agree on certain aspects but, lets not forget the number of pacers that were not available for one reason or another. Hassan and Shaheen when fit and in form out bowled SA pacers in Pakistan.

Even with that there were better pacers in terms of red ball form that could have been inducted from the domestic circuit rather then trying to create hooch poach pitches and using Faheem as 2nd seamer in two matches and making mockery of test cricket.

It had abit of spin but not massive spin.

In the 2nd and 3rd Tests I feel like a lot of it came back to Pakistan’s first innings batting.

202 all out in the 2nd Test was just rubbish, at least 100 under par and likely more, and if you win the toss at Karachi surely you’re looking for 420-450 first up (minimum).

The statistics say that a first innings lead in Test cricket will often lead to a win, and so it proved here as England got a lead in all three games.

Yes definitely need a lead to get ahead of the game and Pakistan couldn't do that unfortunately.

Well, I said that "maybe Pakistan would have a better chance if the pitches were better".

I did NOT say that Pakistan will roll England over if the pitches have spin. So considering that you came up with that fiction all on your own and then attributed it to me, I guess that makes you a liar.

Which is rich coming from you considering that you were accusing me of posting fake stats not too long ago. Maybe take a good hard look in the mirror next time you call someone a liar.

Those stats are very embarrassing regardless. Pak only playing to draw or lose.

0 wins at home in 2022

Ramiz was harping on about success in his shoot interviews

What a dismal record. Wonder where the folks are who were talking about how Pakistan will dominate world cricket after they stop playing in UAE and start home tours. One of the easiest schedules to make it to the world test championship final and they completely bungled it due to a mix of incompetence and flat-out cowardice.

Pakistan beat SA 2-0 at home in a fantastic and exciting series on seaming tracks. Wickets were shared all-round between Shaheen, Hassan, Yasir and Nauman as our bowling attack exceled.

A year later and we decide to pivot to slow highways for the superior batsmen of AUS, ENG & NZ to dominate on, then get outbowled by opposition spinners.

The likes of Sodhi, Patel, Bracewell, Lyon and Leach had a fantastic time running through our batting order.

Why did they fix something that was not broken?

This message is for people who used to make excuse over the years that Pakistan is unlucky not able to play at home and how they would be a top side like India had cricket not been banned in Pakistan. I have always said its an excuse as UAE suited Pakistan the most. They hardly used to lose any tests there and almost made it a fortress in those slow surfaces. Tracks in Pakistan are always flat roads, meaning most top sides would outbat them. More often than not the result would either be a draw or opposition win. Pakistan would seldom outbat any decent side as their strength is bowling. I was correct and result is for everyone to see with 8 test matches at home - 4 defeats and 4 draws..LOL.

Hope such people would have learned few things about cricket and won't bring this home advatnage excuse in future :inti
