ISLAMABAD: Member Punjab Assembly (MPA) Abida Raja’s spouse allegedly physically assaulted Additional Sessions Judge Malik Jahangir near Parliament House over a traffic dispute, CCTV footage revealed on Monday.

Raja’s husband, Chaudhry Khurram, allegedly punched the judge and broke his nose and inflicted other injuries on the judge's eyes and lips, as well as on his left leg.

As per sources, there was an altercation between two vehicles outside Parliament House over the crossing of a traffic signal.

When the two vehicles reached the fuel station near the Foreign Office, Khurram, helped by his driver, opened the door of the Additional Sessions Judge's car and slapped the judge.

In response, the judge drew his pistol and fired two or three shots at Khurram's feet, but did not manage to hurt him or anyone.

As soon as information was received regarding the incident, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Secretariat Police Station reached the spot and both parties were shifted to the police station.

Sub-Inspector Abdul Qayyum led the medical examination of injured Judge Jahangir Awan at Polyclinic Hospital and obtained a preliminary medico-legal report.

Police also obtained footage of the incident, but to prevent media coverage of the incident, a large number of lawyers, judges, and relatives of the two parties rushed to the spot to seek consent from both sides and settle the matter.

In any "normal" country MPA's husband would have been behind the bar for very long time, not in Pakistan. In Pakistan , people in power get way with murder very easily. The murderer Majeed Khan Achakzai was acquitted in Quetta recently, a typical shameful style of "justice" in Pakistan.

Abida Raja belongs to PTI.

Had this been PMLN this thread would had got more replies. But they will ignore this

No one is ignoring anything. There is no justification for what the husband did and he should be punished for his actions as per the law. Furthermore, it should be carried out swiftly.

However, you cannot blame the wife for her husband’s actions simply because she is from PTI. If and when she interferes and attempts to use her political influence, feel free to abuse PTI.

ISLAMABAD: A sessions judge and an MPA’s husband, after a heated argument on Constitution Avenue, opened fire at each other, police said.

Both of them were shifted to the Secretariat police station and efforts were being made to arrange a patch-up between the two parties, said duty officer at the police station Abdul Qayyum.

He said Sessions Judge Jehangir Awan and Chaudhry Khurram were in their vehicles when they exchanged hot words near D-Chowk.

He said both drove forward but after reaching a fuel station located in front of Foreign Office, they began arguing and opened fire at each other.

“Chaudhry Khurram is the husband of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf’s MPA from Punjab Abida Raja. Both the parties have been shifted to the police station,” he said, adding that Station House Officer (SHO) Nadeem Mughal also reached the place of the incident.

According to a statement issued by the police, at a petrol pump located in front of the Foreign Office, two parties fought with each other due to which both were shifted to the Secretariat police station and further legal process was going on.

The Islamabad High Court has suspended an additional sessions judge who had opened fire on the husband of a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf lawmaker in Islamabad’s Red Zone, according to a notification issued by the court registrar.

A copy of the notification has also been sent to the suspended Judge Malik Jehangir Awan and he has been ordered to leave the charge as judicial officer with immediate effect. The action against the judge was taken under Punjab Civil Servants (efficiency and discipline) rules 1999.

Following that, Judge Awan had taken his gun out and fired shots close to Chaudhry's legs in an attempt to make him stand down.

“I opened fire to protect myself after two men attacked me and punched me on the head, nose, and lips,” the judge said.

According to the police, the incident took place at a petrol station opposite the Foreign Office building on the Constitutional Avenue. The Supreme Court, Parliament, President House, and the Prime Minister’s House are also located in the vicinity.
