MS Dhoni becomes the 12th man to reach 10,000 ODI runs

Congrats. One of the ATG ODI batsmen although he surely had the potential of having a 48+ average with 100+ SR.

A record worthy of him. An ATG in ODIs and an ATG captain. Well done, legend. :48:

Playing for records rather than his team. Sad way to go.

Congratulations to the man. One of the greatest LO cricketer to have graced the game.

A legendary captain, a brilliant wicket-keeping and one of the finest finisher to have played the game. It was a pleasure watching him win India so many close matches when he was going all great.

Legend of cricket. Humble gentleman as well. Great ambassador for Indian Cricket.

I want to see him score 15k. Doesnt matter if India loses a few games here and there. Records and averages are more important for some fans.

I can't wait to see him retire, but that does not change the fact that I have enormous admiration for this man. His retirement will hurt as much as Sachin's.

Legendary LOI player.

He will be missed when he retires.

Bottomline - he's potentially going to cost us a World Cup next year, in a similar manner to how Yuvraj has cost us a World T20 and Champions Trophy apiece.

The greatest finisher ever. One of the greatest all time ODI batsman. Definitely among top 5 ever.

But his time is up and he is holding on to a place thar rightfully belongs to Dinesh Karthik.

How did Yuvraj cost India the champions trophy?

How did Yuvraj cost India the champions trophy?

He hadn't done anything in ODIs for half a decade, was randomly brought back from oblivion, and continued to do nothing in the format including in the CT final.

Should have just called it a day in 2013 and spared us the trouble.

I repeat, how did Yuvraj cost India the CT final?

Dont beat around the bush.

Congrats to him. Was a great player in his peak and seems a humble man.

As far as I can remember Indian keepers used to be walking wickets till this boy arrived. Credit to him his batting draws the same expectations as any of the top order players in the side. His keeping in England has been good, still calls the shots in pressure situations more than the captain, he even gives the yes/no for drs. On top of that the guy is expected/can finish games.

His loss will be big for India.

I saw the final which Kartik won against Bangladesh! He looks a cheap imitation. India's limited overs side will be a lot weaker in dhonis absence.

I repeat, how did Yuvraj cost India the CT final?

Dont beat around the bush.

Beat around the bush? The guy scored a 22 (31) chasing a 340 total in the final to top off several years of mediocrity where he had also cost us another LoI final.

You're welcome.

India lost that match by 180 runs. Yuvraj was infact the 2nd highest scorer from India.

How did he then cost India the match?

That's an outrageously dumb statement.

Kohli will become the 13th player to do so this year and the quickest to achieve that feat too.

You're welcome.

The second highest scorer cost you the match and not the guy who got a duck up top and another who got out twice in 2 balls

Congrats to Dhoni. One of the greatest ODI players and one of the greatest captains.Seems past it now but he deserves all the plaudits.

When this man dropped himself to lower order at the start of his captaincy from number 3 position and curb his natural attacking instincts to be the finisher India needed from that day on this man has been super phenomenal team player one of the calmest players to grace the game. Opposition always knew it's not over till they don't get dhoni. Still remember his 140+ against Pakistan in 2005 he really announced his arrival there and then. What a player what a legend

Must be the first batsman scoring 10K runs while batting at 6 or 7.

Outstanding achievement

Another achievement in great illustrious career. Should retire gracefully now since nothing left to prove for.

Strike rate regressed badly imo. He was good enough to maintain 95+ strike rate but changed batting style in middle of career from fearless attacking batsman to defensive & calculated risk taker .maybe due to adapting for test cricket.

Hope he retires on high note.

His SR probably is lower for a no.6.

In this era, a SR of 100 is bare minimum we expect from someone who mostly batted below 5.

For example, Buttler has a SR of 118. Obviously, he debuted in 2013 but still a SR of 100 would have been nicer for Dhoni's era as batting become a lot easier post 2008 and he was going great till 2014.

Legend. A true ODI champion.

PS: seeing this stats table, y'all can easily add +15 to 90s ODI legends' averages and +10 to their SRs

Bottomline - he's potentially going to cost us a World Cup next year, in a similar manner to how Yuvraj has cost us a World T20 and Champions Trophy apiece.

How on earth did yuvi cost ya the CT final? CT final was lost by bowlers and then won by Pakistani bowlers opening spell.. Rohit Sharma was more to blame than Yuvraj if he had survived initial 2-3 overs from Amir then the swing would have been gone and Kohli could have won us the match from there.. But Sharma couldn’t handle the swing and neither could kohli and match was lost there itself..

Yuvi, Dhoni were also culprits but chasing 300+ you need one of your top 3 to score a 100 and that did not happen..

So it was not Yuvi’s fault India lost.

Over achiever.. lucky to play most of his matches in flat tracks of India.

Flat tracks of India? Do you even watch cricket? Everywhere in the world ODI’s have flat tracks, if you are dismissing achievement of indian batsmen for scoring runs in India then dismiss the runs of your Aussie batsmen for scoring on roads, English batsmen as well as South Africans..
