Given that it is from the stables of bollywood, must be a crap movie. Way to tarnish Dhoni's legacy.

WOW never seen such a good sports movie trailer coming from bollywood....Looking forward to it.

Just saw someone in FB post that having spent so much money they couldn't pay attention to detail, for e.g. a scene where dhoni (sushant) is carrying his bat under his right arm pit, where as the real Dhoni carries it under his left, when he comes to bat.

Just goes to show that you cannot fool the public by showing a pompous trailer. Hope the content is as good as the trailer.

Think this one will be better than Azhar. Azhar was as well made as it could be, but tbh irl Azhar's life as a man and cricketer weren't THAT interesting because there was no epic climax, he just faded into the background.

With Dhoni there is a lot of material from ticket collector to ODI ATG and the best LOI captain.

But the guy looks nothing like him..

Should've gotten Farhan Akhtar to do it.

Then again Emran Hashmi doesn't look like Azhar either.

Also LOL the guy playing his teacher was the head honcho bookie in Azhar haha. :asif

Legend Dhoni.

From a ticket collector and living in a 4 staff quarter in Ranchi to the richest cricketer in the world.

Will be a hell of a story to tell if the movie is done properly.

Awesome trailer. Would be watching a bolly flick in cinema after a long time. :D

Would be amazing atmosphere in cinema, especially, for that winning shot by Dhoni.

Very good trailer.

This movie has potential. Will do much better than other Biopics that have come out recently in Bollywood.

What is so special about an athlete from low-middle income class becoming a star athlete ? Is cricket only exclusive to the middle-high and high class families in India ? Most of the athletes in professional sports generally come from poor households. If I remember correctly, he only got that job because he was a cricketer.

How many of them become one of the highest paid athlete in the world and the richest cricketer ?

Need more goosebump moments in the movie.

Dhoni is the PERFECT story to give audience the ultimate experience.

Everyone knows the story....it all lies in telling it.

Isn't the rags to riches the story of most Indian cricketers

Dhoni is the same guy who was once a train ticket examiner and after getting success starred in a commercial ridiculing the very same job.

Not all. Ganguly, Gambhir etc were from very well to do families. Infact Ganguly family was one of the richest family in Kolkata.

Hmm Let me think, Mike Tyson, Usain Bolt, Williams Sisters, Muhammad Ali, Holyfield, Mayweather, Pacquiao, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson and basically every single basketball players except for Kobe Bryant. Here are the NBA contracts signed this year, take a look at the salary and they don't include their shoe contract. I haven't even talked about NFL, Baseball and soccer players. Cricket and Ice Hockey is the only sport where most of the cricketers seem to come from wealthy families or good-middle class families. This may have to do with the cost of cricketing equipment, coaching fees, match fees and etc that prevents low income children from participating. How many street cricketers are there? Every single Indian kid has touched a soft ball and gully cricket bat, how many of them would go on to play with a hard ball and willow bat ? Anyway it is very normal in sports to have a poor person do well and there is nothing amazing about that. Dhoni is from a low-middle income family and was never poor.

Indians don't care about Mike tyson and Holfields bro :P
As far as cricket is concerned, I think Dhoni is the only one who went on to become an ATG cricketer coming from such background.
Ganguly came from a very rich family.
Sachin, upper middle class
Kholi, middle class Delhiite
Dravid, Laxman, Segwag, Yuvi, Gavaskar, Kumble all came from upper middle class families.
Plus, they all lived in big cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Banglore. Where as Dhoni lived most of his childhood in Rachi, Jharkhand (Then Bihar) which is a very backward state of a poor country (India).

In India you will find many athletes from poor families, but I don't think anyone had such an impact on their respective sports like Dhoni had on cricket.
It may be very normal in sports to have a poor person do well but its not normal in cricket.
(Sorry I don't know much about early years of cricketers from Pak, Sl, Bang)

Rags to riches story is always impressive no matter how many times it's been done in sports. Even middle class to riches.

It takes an immense amount of dedication and passion to grind out practicing one skill day in day out when there may be others out there who are better than you. In Pakistan and India especially, this could mean millions.

It's why watching movies like this and for e.g. Creed (where the guy was actually rich, but ditched that life) are still enjoyable to watch.

I think its a thing in India. If you look at most of the cricketers, apart from bowlers you'll probably not find a batting poor cricketer. Bowlers get in based on their raw speed for the vast majority of the time. Batsmen, you need coaching from the age of 14 at the latest and then you need bat, pads, fees and etc. SL and Pak emphasize more on public schools and school is free so students of any background can get a chance to shine. Dhoni isn't poor, he had his own house, just very struggling family. But ya, in India its a big thing I guess.

A Song from Dhoni's movie:

I'll give it a watch; I don't expect it to be any good though.

The Tamil dubbed version sounds nasty as hell. Might have to watch the Hindi original version.

Nawazuddin should have played Dhoni's character.

Lol he's an excellent actor but he is not suited for the role of Dhoni.. Body structure is way too different audience won't be able to relate to him as Dhoni so no point even if he did better job at acting..

Boooring. Typical Bollywood stuff trying to take advantage of peoples emotions. What a terrible trailer btw. I feel like I just saw the whole movie.

This is a problem with most movies nowadays. I was watching dont breathe in the cinema yesterday and the trailer for the new Ring movie came on and they literally just showed the whole movie in the trailer

Spoiler Alert. He becomes captain of India and wins the 2011 world cup.

Back in the day it was a lot worse, they don't give the plot away as much as they do now. But going by the trailer in the OP the narrative is predictable but at the end of the day it is a biopic. Won't be watching this movie though, I don't like India.

As a cricket fan, you should already be aware of the main parts.

Although, I'm hoping they tweak things around and Pakistan wins in Mohali 2011. :yk

Na bro, they already showed the winning 6 and carrying sachin in the trailer.

I don't watch bollywood anymore because its trash cinema but will watch this just for dhoni

The purpose of such movies' trailer is not to create suspense.

There is no suspense in such movies. Even a kid knows the climax.

It is to get people to feel HOW everything has been shown in a movie. If that's sold, job done.

I didn't like the ACTUAL cricket match's footage they showed in trailer.

That's cringey.

Finally with his face after sixer.

Like a bad photoshop.

Great trailer.

Btw - this is the same guy who was in PK right? Sarfraz?

Sushant Singh is too thin imo.

Not athletlic enough

terrible trailer

the actor is not even remotely reminiscent of Dhoni

hopefully sachin movie is better

Most of our Indian Cricketers have come from extremely humble backgrounds and are genuine examples of Inspiration.

Who else makes the cut if not these guys? Abhishek Bachann, Ranbir Kapoor, Soraj Pancholi, Varun Dhawan or Tiger Shroff? Lol.

From Kapil Dev to Azharrudin, , Pathan Brothers to Harbhajan, Sachin Tendulkar to Vinod Kambli, Joginder Sharma to Umesh Yadav they have all done the hard yards with even their families making exceptional sacrifices to help them reach where they have. Some of these guys were orphaned at a young age, so along with bearing the burden of family and taking out time to pursue something in Sports which is discouraged as a waste of time in a country like India is no mean task. Travelling for hours everyday to reach Practice Centers, being unable to afford basic Cricket equipment and uncertainty of a future, these guys have seen it all and yet managed to shine against all Odds.

Gotta Salute them!!! Not just in India but everywhere in SC.

The Sachin movie is not an actual movie but a documentary. So I'm guessing it will have video clips of real matches.

Dunno how this movie is. Bollywood has improved a lot in other genres but when it comes to biographical movies, they make utter trash.

That Azhar movie was a huge LOL. Either we all were blind & deaf when the scandal broke out & azhar confessed or Ekta kapoor is using a pretty strong weed to promote a real life picture with that screenplay.

Same goes for that Bhaag mikha bhaag. Since when do runners have six pack & muscular chests/arms.

I digress that fictional Liberites are always taken in biographical movies. But in bollywood biographical film, they expect the audience to send their brains on a long vacation.

this is good wat u can expect from Neeraj Pandey

Every sports person has an untold story. With Pak having banned Bollywood cinema releases we won't have to watch the story of sporting nobody. Thank God for that. These people across the border like to make movies about the smallest of sportsmen, Dhoni is nothing more then a glorified tail ender.

Watched it. Really enjoyed it. It's a very good cricket/Dhoni fan's movie. Dhoni has lot of personal interests vested in it, so obviously nothing negative shown about him.

If you go expecting a Bollywood movie which is pretty good, you'll get pretty much that.

Paan Singh Tomar,Zubeida,Aligarh have been pretty good imho.

True hearing the same from everyone that is very enjoyable eventhough critics have slammed it.

Dhoni is brilliant limited overs player, perhaps in the top 5 ever to play the game and def the best finisher we have seen but I can't imagine sitting through a movie of his life.

I live in dubai and i don't want to go with my indian friends because i will feel embarrassed if they show india beating pak in the 2011 wc semifinal :(

Those who watched the movie can you please tell me if there are any references to pak in the movie and do they show or talk anything related to the semifinal? honest answers please.

Why unlike other major players the guy is not from top cities in India(Mumbai,Chandigarh,Bangalore,Delhi) and still made it big not sure how it doesn't make a good bollywood story.
