Muhammad Naeem, an enigmatic all-rounder for Lahore Qalandars, will feature in PSL X this year. He does not have ANY domestic record, and he is quiet on social media as well.

He had some games against the "Eagles" but in 2022...

Has LQ uncovered a hidden talent? Or will he just too raw. A mystery whose answer will only unfold over time.

Muhammad Naeem departs after a disappointing debut, gone for 8(11) against defending champions Islamabad United.

Who does he play for? The way he was batting he seemed like an amateur.....

He looked good when he his Naseem for a 6, but only seems to be a leg-sided player

Mohammad Yousaf speaking during a TV show:

"I’ve heard Mohammad Naeem’s name for the first time. Has he played any first-class cricket? I don’t know what kind of player he is. I’ve only seen him face 10-11 balls. They have Mohammad Akhlaq, who is a fantastic player with first-class experience. How can they pick someone with no experience over someone more seasoned?"

Because Akhlaq is a keeper and we need to protect the nexus.

Naeem is rubbish but akhlaq is equally poor.

Another day another disappointing stuff from the youngster but still he needs an extended run to prove his mettle. Gone for 7(5) against Karachi Kings in Match 6 of PSL X.

I’m sorry he need to go back to basics and work on his game. Maybe in 2-3 years.

Who is he?

Who’s his daddy?

Lahore Qalandars chose him as Fakhar’s partner when they could’ve went with Sharjeel?

Why is his selection in the PSL not being being talked about more frequently?

Piece of trash

Faiq Butt sitting out of the tournament and this parchi plays

I’m astonished that he is playing for Lahore Qalandars, one of the best teams of our premier national tournament. He won’t even find a place in my areas local tournament. Just hits blindly.

I think he has a big parchi otherwise there is no way he is playing game after game for lahore. He is not good at all and lahore should move on from him for the next games.

Not sure why they investing on him. They had better options

Lahore always have one or two totally useless players in their squad every season.

A despicable run by him as an opener for Lahore Qalandars clearly sends one message. He is not worth it. Gone for 6(4) against Multan Sultans in PSL X.

He looked good today but still departed without a big score conversion. Scored 25(18) against Islamabad United in PSL X match 19 courtesy of a great throw by Ben Dwarshuis

Finally Muhammad Naeem delivers with the bat for his side. Debut fifty for him In PSL. Accomplished this feat against Quetta Gladiators.

He looks like someone who has presence & power but there's also something missing in his game. Pak players no matter who they are have all been severely limited in terms of mental ability & he's no exception. There was a drop catch today for him that helped him get to a fifty but it was almost obvious the moment he got there that he felt that the job was done & when he got out, it looked almost inevitable.

Qalandars have kept faith in him which is good for him but he needs to improve a lot to become a regular and not just an emerging player quota player.

According to Naeem, he has been with LQ development since 2017 so then why hasn't he played any cricket in 8 years?

No FC, No List A and no T20.

He is a gora which LQ disguising as " Naeem " to use as a local player .

@topspin @mominsaigol @RyanRyan10 @Dr_Bassim @CerebralPatriot @emranabbas

How is it that a guy who hasn’t played any FC or List A cricket still has more balls to play fearless cricket as a T20 opener in comparison to two washed up T20 players having a cry off if they don’t get to open the innings?

22 ball 50 in a high intensity match!
Ba/riz aren't washed up(I'm assuming you're referring to them), washed up would imply that they were actually good t20.players once upon a time.

He looks good.

Interesting how the new batters emerging do not have a traditional Pakistani batting style of using their bat like a road sweeper :ROFLMAO:

Yet another Tulla player who people have already started hyping. He was a failure in almost 6 games and suddenly 2 knocks and people are already jumping.
Who on earth is jumping? He's a player with 0 List A or first class experience and is literally just a player for fun?

But you have to appreciate a player when they win games for their team. Unless if you're babar or Rizwan.

Considering he has brothers who are 15-20 years older than him, it is possible for him to be his nephew. Its common in big families.

An interesting prospect. He is in the mold of Khawaja Nafay for me personally.

He does have an off side game but obviously his strength is playing the ball on the leg side.

Well spoken & educated is a massive plus for him. Seems to have a good head on his shoulders.

The biggest issue I have with players like Naeem and Nafay is that they have done zilch in domestic cricket. Performances in PSL should be treated like icing on the cake. The cake is domestic cricket.

Unless a player scores piles of runs in domestic cricket for at least 2 seasons, I would not even think of picking them for Pakistan.

good bat speed, no off side game, useful at this level, unlikely to thrive any higher. good find for LQ tho.

Yeah crap players like Haseebullah have been doing what you want.

Half of his run making shots came off edges. Fine once in a blue moon but does not say much about his ability.

Naeem joins a distinguished group after once in a blue moon knock, Asif Ali Usman Khan AzamKhan Sharjeel waiting in the club for him.

He came through the LQ development program, so massive credit to them and they're doing something right

They have developed his hitting ability very well

He will only get better once he starts playing FC cricket

The pcb needs to get the same people running that development program to work with batsmen with strong FC records to improve their hitting ability

Guys like Maaz Sadaqat, Azan Awais, M. Shahzad etc

Haseebullah deserves a proper chance in ODIs and Tests absolutely

He has been treated unfairly both in international cricket and also in the PSL

What a season turnaround for the youngster. As he stuns all with the brilliance with the ball against Karachi Kings. He helped dismissed the dangerous looking David Warner and also registered an economical spell for his side with figures of 1/15 in 3 overs.

This is what happens when you believe in a player and give him a freehand to play his natural game. Failure is part of the process, but it's all worth it in the end when the player comes through.

Credit to LQ team management for believing in this kid

A magnificent half-century by the youngster in just 24 balls in Eliminator 2 against Islamabad United in PSL X.

Lahore stuck with him and he delivered at crunch time... He was looking like a tail ender and was pathetic in the first few games, but I think he was nervous, not sure... But he played brisk knocks in important games...

How people changed their opinions about him as season progressed. Kudos to LQ for always bringing new players. Some fail some stay but they always bring new ones

And doing so when he's a complete unknown. It was gutsy and risky but that's what happens if you think a player has talent and you let him work through his failures.

What a completely crazy find out of nowhere. Hats off to Lahore and their PDP program.

I would expect going forward he will get legitimate chances to prove himself in domestics.

Bats with a very clear mind. Even when he gets beaten or looks a bit ungainly at the crease, it doesn't affect his confidence or level of intent.

good slogger, would struggle against international quality attacks, but has a good bat swing.

Probably the most explosive opener in this years psl, especially towards the back end of the season when he found form, often outplaying even fakhar.

Another opener ahead of Babar and Rizwan in the pecking order

Seems to have a solid mindset for the top level. Level headed and mentally strong. I still think he should develop his offside game as he will be picked out very quickly by the international teams. He slogs everything to onside/legside even the offside deliveries.

Hopefully Qalandars can get him a gig at Melbourne as well, because of their PDP transfer program. This will do him a lot of good if he can learn to deal with the bounce on Australian decks early on in his career

He can become a proper T20 opener for Pakistan both home and away

His hitting range range is pretty great for Pakistani batters. When he hits it, it stays hit. However, lack of offside game is worrying and he will need to develop it if he is to become an international class batter.

Credit to Shaheen for sticking with him despite initial failures.

Tall strong batsmen are needed nowadays in LOI cricket. Even India is shifting in that direction so Hassan Nawaz and Naeem emerging from this PSL is good for Pakistan. He is very strong on legside but needs to work on offside game.

Opening contenders with Saim in LOI cricket considering Fakhar bats at 3 or middle order.

M Naeem
M Sadaqat
M Harris

Healthy competition.

LQ have unearthed sm potential players and Naeem is one of them. Hope that PCB will utilize him sensibly.

Now it is up to him to invest in his game. Of course he can play T20 franchise cricket. It will not help if he goes the same route as our other paper tigers and start playing cricket all over the world and not working on his game.
