What's new

Multan Sultans (169/8) trounce Lahore Qalandars (89) by 80 runs in Match 28

Wahab

Yes. Surprisingly he has improved at this old age. He's started bowling inswingers with the new ball which shown his determination. Plus he has the knack of stepping up on bid occasions

Lahore seriously need to be investigated here.

How do you win the toss, bowl first knowing that your side struggle to chase any score above 120? Then fiddle the batting order with Dunk as an opener and SA at 5?

Hafeez trying all sorts of ways to get out against the run of play and momentum!

Qalandars are a joke...this will effect their run rate so if karachi win last match i think they are out

The Pakistani batsmen are so gutless in this tournament!

Only Sohaib Maqsood and Asif Ali have shown some solid intention!

I think i'm sold on him to heck with this kid getting smacked, it's his persistence to never give up and habit of picking up wickets.

However, if the WC was being played in SA or Aus i'd opt for Rauf despite the poor form. I asked a guy the question whether Rauf would flourish on these conditions and he's just answered everyone's question that he can't. Dhani has shown he can bowl on these conditions so for me he makes the final XI, he could spring a surprise package to others.

Dahani is ready for international cricket. We'll only know when he plays in aus/SA/NZ. His natural length is slightly shorter than most bowlers from subcontinent so i think adjusting to those shouldn't be a problem for him

The kid has josh and just think he's got the hang of it out here, hopefully this is something M. Waseem notices.

That’s embarrassing stuff from LQ in last few matches

It's that Aqib Javed who needs a slap persisting with rubbish players like that joker Salman Butt for a season and then this clown Sohail. I'm pleased for Sohail when he does well but he's always stiff on the crease and sets himself up for the lbw.

Laugh at me all you want but i'd rather have Fawad as captain or even Nuaman Ali they will at least show some urgency in the field. Sohail deserves to be stripped of the captaincy as well as a place in the team he does nothing, even if he scores a 50 today it will be in a lost cause today.

I mean you couldn't give Agha 1 over??? He bowls at well, where is your head?

Just like QG, LQ have restricted them too much to their internal programs. Shaheen and Fakhar have been their most valuable players over the years and both have come through proper structure.

Credit goes to LQ for having such a program but, it doesnt mean they have to restrict themselves to just that.

Guys like Agha Salman, Hammad Azam, Mohammad Haris, Qasim Akram etc surely deserve to play PSL more than Mohammad Faiza, Sohail Akhtar etc.

LQ needs to do better than this especially when it comes to batting.

Agha is too stiff for me at the crease and similar to Sohail, add to boot he's a terrible fielder.

I'd like to see some better changes come the next season and the obvious return of David Weise who they've badly missed this season.

Shocking stuff from LQ. Absolutely brainless decision to bowl first given how terrible they are at chasing. This is very difficult to understand.

Multan just helped Karachi kings big time by getting lahore out at such a low score. I don't mind as we would love to beat Karachi in playoffs.

Yep as a Lahore fan i'm done with this Purchi Sohail who's done nothing and makes dumb faces whenever he drops dolly catches and his role is just non-sensical in the team for me. Just heard him talk about why Dunk played above him today and says it was due to Dunk's opening "experience". What a clueless and utterly shameful captain. They don't deserve to play in the play offs with performances like this along with rubbish selection.

Iftikhar too. Apart from them, it's been the same story of Babar, Rizwan, Malik, Akmal.

Khushdil doesn't deserve to be in Multan team.he is useless.Danis Aziz is another useless player who keeps getting chances.

Shahnawaz Dahani’s remarkable figures of four for five and a quick-fire half-century from Sohaib Maqsood helped Multan Sultans to an emphatic 80-run win over Lahore Qalandars in the 28th fixture of HBL PSL 6 at Sheikh Zayed Stadium on Friday.

Qalandars, in their chase of 170, were bundled out for 89 in the 16th over.

Shahnawaz, who recorded his career-best figures, accounted for Fakhar Zaman (13 off 15, one four), James Faulkner (22 off 11, one four and two sixes), Rashid Khan (two off five) and Shaheen Shah Afridi (two off three) in his 3.1 overs.

The right-arm pacer also became the leading wicket-taker in the HBL PSL 6 with 18 wickets at 14 runs per dismissal in eight matches.

Imran Khan snr picked three wickets for 24, while Blessing Muzarabani grabbed two for 26.

Earlier, after being put into bat by Qalandars captain Sohail Akhtar, Sultans got off to a poor start as Shaheen dismissed in-form Shan Masood lbw on the first ball of the match. This was the third instance of the left-armer striking on the first ball of an HBL PSL match.

After Shan’s departure, Sohaib joined Mohammad Rizwan and the pair added 45 off 30 balls before Rizwan fell to Haris for 15 off 20 (three fours).

Johnson Charles (10 off nine, one four) was next to go with scorecard reading 60 for three in the eighth over.

The pair of Sohaib and Rilee Rossouw got together and helped Sultans stage a comeback. The pair added 63 runs for the fourth-wicket and at one stage 200 looked on the cards for Sultans but the departure of Rossouw (29 off 24, five fours) in the 15th over and Sohaib (60 off 40, three fours and four sixes) in the 17th over dried up the runs for Sultans.

That the Sultans were able to cross 150-mark and post 169 for eight was because of belligerent batting from Sohail Tanvir, who scored an unbeaten 26 off nine balls, smashing three fours and two sixes.

The left-handed batsman struck two towering sixes and three fours in the last over of the innings bowled by Haris which went for 24 runs.

For Qalandars, Shaheen picked three wickets, while Faulkner took two wickets.

The victory took Sultans to second spot on the points table with 10 points from nine games (five wins, four defeats).

Qalandars, who suffered their fourth loss in a row, are down to fourth spot of the six-team table with ten points from ten matches (five wins, five defeats).
