Was last year's spanking not enough to realize Junaid is trash?

Overall, a mediocre team. They're going nowhere.

Most boring squad of PSL imo. I will only like to watch shoaib malik and saif badar.

By selecting the nightmare that is Junaid, Multan have pretty much kissed the trophy goodbye. He is one of the greatest match-losers in PSL's short history. He belongs in the 6th category called 'Liability', instead of Gold.

It was a miracle that we won the trophy last year in spite of him playing for the opposition, but Multan will probably not be so lucky.

you are forgetting sohail tanvir.umar gul and MOHAMMMAD ABBAS.JUNAId is better than these TTFs.

kashif bhatti and abbas may play .But that supplementary pick named hardus vijoley is a good bowler so he may play while pollard or Darren barvo misses out.Over all a very very poor squad.

weakest squad in this PSL.

2. Kumar Sangakarra
3. Darren Bravo
4. Sohaib Maqsood
5. Shoaib Malik
6. Saif Badar
7. Kieron Pollard
8. Sohail Tanvir
9. Mohammad Irfan
10. Hardus Viljoen
11. Imran Tahir

Darren Bravo
Shoaib Malik
and Kierron Pollard...... Whole batting depends on these three guys... rest are useless or below average...
Will be interesting to see how Nicholas Pooran plays if given chance ahead of Sanga.

Happy to see saif and abduallah shafiq picked. Both of them have got great potential and i hope they played as openers not at 7or 8.

Multan Sultans were the last one to pick. The guys didn't have many options to chose from.

Malik has a reputation for picking young players, but this KK-rejects squad is a joke from a Pakistan talent POV.

Multan promised to select young players, but as ever words are cheap.

Their saving grace are their EPs, especially Saif Badar.

LQ mistreated Saif last year and refused to give him a game. At least he is pretty much guaranteed a fair run in PSL 3. Malik rates him highly.

I agree to an extent, but I am criticising them for their domestic picks. Plenty of young deserving players who missed out. Can't blame the draft picks when the players are still available!

They already had Irfan, Junaid and Tanvir but went on to pick 3 more pacers in Abbas, Gul and Vilojen.

Why did they pick selfie? This guy might perform in a couple matches and Inzi will select him for West Indies series :)

Their best combination :

1- Ahmed Shahzad
2- Saif Badar
3- Sanga (wk)
4- Malik
5- Maqsood
6- Pollard
7- Kashif Bhatti
8- Sohail tanvir
9- Hardus Viljoen
10- Imran Tahir
11- Junaid/Lambu/Abbas

7 Bhatti
8 Sohail Tanvir/Gul
9 Viljoen
10 Imran Tahir
11 Junaid Khan/ Irfan/Abbas

Malik will support Saif and Maqsood.

My XI would be

Shehzad
Pooran
Sanga
Badar
Malik
Pollard
Kashif
Sohail
Junaid
Irfan
Tahir

Probably the worst squad in the tournament. Just seems like a TTF/Karachi reunion. In batting terms, Malik and Pooran will be the key. Sanga hasn't lighten the world alight in t20 domestic competitions not expecting any different this time. Malik will back Badar so it's a good experience for him to bat with Sanga and Malik. Tahir is the key with the bowl, in UAE conditions he could be a handful. Seam bowling opitions aren't flash but they will be a threat in these conditions on a good day. But if they are off there game, Multan will be hammered for 200 plus scores.

Not expecting a lot from this line. Think they will finish last.

Disappointed with Multan. They had an opportunity to build an exciting young squad but totally blew it.

Though they were given the worst draft picks and their retained (1st draft) 10 are the spill overs, but I feel Multan is the surprise team of the tournament - partially because of Moody, Malik & the new comers surprise. Most of their players are last pick of their rounds or spill overs, therefore they must have the fire inside to prove someone wrong and I feel Malik wasn't a smooth fit in Karachi team, he is a guy who is more comfortable working with "less ego, more passion" players. Don't think they'll win it, but I do expect them to make the 1st cut - after that, it's a matter of 2 good days.

I am not sure if anyone can pick from supplementary at random, but from starting XV, this is probably my XI

1. Ahmed
2. ^Sangakara+
3. ^Darren Bravo
4. Malik*
5. Badar
6. ^Pollard
7. Maqsood
8. Kashif
9.Tannu
10. ^Tahir
11. Irfaaaaan

Maqsood (No. 7) is the weak link here which needed a medium pacer all-rounder - not sure if they can bring from Sup. category, but if they can bring Hardus Viljoen (Kolpak player, should be available for entire distance) at 7, this is actually quite a decent XI. Otherwise, Maqsood bats at 7 and Pollard/Malik takes care of 4 overs. Amin should have moved to Multan, because he was certain to open for this team, could have bowled a bit as well - now that spot goes to Kumar or Pooran .... and at QG it goes to Asad.

I think Maqsood will either open or bat at #3.

I think Maqsood will either open or bat at #3.

That pushes accumulators one step down and Pollard to last 15-20 balls; I don't think Moody would do that. May be he'll open with Maqsood in exchange of Ahmed or play at 3 as stop gap, but not regular starter.

Excited to see Saif Badar selected. Hope he plays most games and bats in Top 4.

If given enough chances, I think he can be the emerging player of the tournament.

They have to play at least one EP so he will definitely get some chances. Also Malik rates him highly.

It's a blessing for his career that he has moved from LQ.

Ahmed Shehzad should have been in the platinum category like he was with Quetta Gladiators.

If Malik/Moody bonds well, #3 will be either Tanvir or Bhatti.

Otherwise, Saif Badar and Sohaib Maqsood is a potentially match winning combination at 3/4.

Are they better than Sanga, Bravo, Malik & Pollard between 3 to 6?

Shahzad on a gold package is actually decent business. He may well become the leading run scorer again

this Ross Whiteley guy has hit 101 6s compares to 74 4s in T20 cricket

that's an insane stat, especially considering how pace heavy county cricket is

Sohaib has his moments of madness thats becoming his second nature. Before that, He was good and will be best utilised at 3.

Badar is very good and can accelerate with ease, particularly against spin.

In a T20, Maqsood, Badar and Malik at 3-5 is a better combination when compared to Sanga, Darren and Malik.

Do we even have any Seraikis on the forum? Who are we going to make a fun off when we demolish this side?? :danish

Darren Bravo isn't even a t20 player. Surely MS could have picked another batsmen. Gunatilika and Dickwella were available for the draft. Would rather have seen one of those 2 than a misfit for the format.

He'll do well. Dickwella might not have agreed to tour PAK. Bravo has every shot in book, but he spends most of it to bail out his team. I am surprised why they didn't go for Hope, Dorwich or Chase (not sure if they were part of draft or not).

He was but no one wanted him.... :shezzy2

That is unfathomable...

He has been the leading run scorer in the PSL with the most 50's and most boundaries yet we still have to watch this farce.

No idea what the PSL owners are thinking

So all players who were selected was because they would travel to Pakistan? Wasn't aware of that.

Bravo could be playing for WI in world cup qualifiers. Not sure if those players were available for draft or not.

The captain of the national team did not want to retain Shehzad.

No way an Aussie like Mitch Johnson is going to Pak.

I wanted to support the new team but this team is very uninspiring and consists mostly of rejects from the other franchises.

The only way they can turn it around is if somehow malik is able to perform and lead the team well.

I think, CI wrote something that players willing to travel PAK are considered for draft, rest went to Sup. , while Chairman PCB long back said that every player playing in PSL have to agree on travelling to PAK, subject to security clearance. I am sure, it was a factor in the draft, other wise players like Ewan Lewis can't go unsold.

So MJ and Bmac will travel to Pakistan?

Not sure if that there was a rule where you must tour Pakistan to play in PSL. Maybe Saj or another mods could make this clear.

KP opted out last time. Nothing dramatically changed for him to change his stance. QG retained him so I am sure it was Sethi being Sethi then.

Woww Whatta team!!!
Whatta captain Shoaib Malik and Platinum demoted/Diamond demoted/Gold Player Shehzad
but team is'nt complete
Only if Kamran Akmal, Umar Akmal, Adnan Akmal, Arsal Sheikh, Shan Masood, Imam ul Haq, Wahab Riaz, Hafeez, Ibtisam Sheikh, Azam Khan [Moin Khan son] join this side,

then they deserve to be called the REAL SULTANS OF PAKISTAN CRICKET. Sultans are not made to perform they are meant to occupy.

I think, one year changes lot - last year KP & few others opted out, though few said that they are doing it on instigation from F&F (personally no issues). Since then, in last few months lots of things have changed, it might change to more positive direction in next 3/4 months, so why not? I don't think any player individually should have much issues for franchise cricket. Problem is when National team tours, because they are flag bearer and that call is politically influenced - Govt. has to answer lot many stake holders.

Well at least no franchise selected Salman Butt or Adnan Akmal which shows the Akmals lack influence in PSL.

Sohail Tanvir
Umar Gul
Mohammad Abbas
Mohammad Irfan
Junaid Khan

All in one team - what on earth Wasim Bhai?

We'll have to wait and see.

Shoaib Malik captaining the side is the biggest disaster of all.

Only people who haven't seen Malik as captain of Karachi kings will be able to think he can do wonders for sultans.

He is the complete opposite of Wasim Akram brings as a coach, he is passive, defensive, timid, meek, will find the escape route as soon as the going gets tough. You only have to recall Malik giving captaincy to Bopara in the first edition to see how Malik is when he gets under pressure.

Malik's cricketing accumen is only limited to grooming youngsters, no one should give him a team full of stars, then he acts like a phopoo and makes all these accusations and portrays himself as the victim.

Ahmad Shahzad
Sangakara
Malik
Sohaib Maqsood
Ross Whitelly
Keron Pollard
Sohail Tanvir
Kasif Bhatti
Junaid Khan
Imran Tahir
Mohammad Irfan

Then MS must be a better side than most thinks.

As if he was reading us last night, In National T20 match today, Maqsood batted at #3 and went on to win it for Faisalabad. A 42 ball 80* chasing 193 with 11 balls to spare.

Maqsood and Badar at 3-4 is a potentially Match Winning Partnership.

All teams have to select ATLEAST 1 Emerging Player in Playing XI. Either Badar or Abdullah Shafiq.

Multan will start as an underdog team and they will perform better.

Muddled thinking and their draft policy looks like it lacked a plan.

Bowling is ok, but that batting line-up looks terribly weak.

I'm guessing Moody was not at the draft.

Looking highlights of Ahmed & Maqsood in the T20 tournament, I guess Multan indeed has a better squad than most are thinking. If Maqsood can do similar damage from 3, they have the accumulators, finisher and bowers to make it a big entry in PSL. Irfaaaaan is bowling exceptionally tight, Tahir is world class, Tanvir is better T20 bowler than most credits him and if they can bring Hardus Viljoen (he is probably Sup. because of not willing to travel PAK, otherwise a Kolpak player, he is available for entire tournament), MS is actually the surprise team of PSL

Ahmed, ^Kumar+
Maqsood, Badar_e, Malik*, ^Pollard
^Viljoen, Kashif
Tannu, ^Tahir, Irfaaan

That's a much better T20 team on potential.

Was really disappointed by an interview Wasim Akram did regarding the draft.

Having already picked the "very experienced" fast bowlers: Sohail Tanvir, Junaid Khan, Mohammed Irfan and Umar Gul he goes on to justify the selection of Abbas, even though none of the other franchises did, on the grounds that "experience matters."

Seriously, what is this thinking? The PSL is a T20 tournament. The priority should be developing younger talent into prospects for the national side. Having picked a very experienced quartet, why didn't Wasim select a younger option rather than turning to Abbas?

Sends out a very bad message.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Aizaz Cheema as Multan's 21st pick. He's extremely experienced.

God this team looks weak. Nicholas Pooran has been bought mainly to strength the bench but Darren Bravo doesn't make sense at all. You want to go with T20 players that will guarantee you victories.
