Prior to taking over Bangladesh, this former great cricket player from Pakistan made a pledge to the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). As the cliché goes, he is leading the England U-19 team. The announcement that Mushtaq will be the England U-19 team's spin bowling coach has been verified by Pakistani media outlet Pakpassion.net. Mushtaq's new task starts with a four-day game against the young team of Sri Lanka.

Mushtaq Ahmed's successful position as a coach for spin bowling was demonstrated by Rishad Hossain's outstanding performance at the ICC T20 World Cup 2024. The Bangladeshi squad desired a long-term contract extension for this Pakistani coach. However, Mushtaq ultimately closed the Bangladesh chapter.

Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) sources also confirmed the truth about Mushtaq's departure. After the last 2 BCB board meetings, BCB President and Sports Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh Nazmul Hassan Papon told the media, “We are ready to extend the contract with Mushtaq. On the other hand, we are also looking for some new options. Let's see what options we have. We have contract with Hathurusingha till February.”

For the time being, Bangladesh is unable to accept any more coaches other than those for the spin coach position. At least until the ICC Champions Trophy in 2025, head coach Chandika Hathurusingha is anticipated to serve as the panel's leader.

Good to see. Mushy has always had a great relationship with English cricket.

Great for the likes of young talents Tazeem Ali & Farhan Ahmed (Rehans brother) in the u19 setup. So much experience to offer these youngsters and hope they make the most of it.

You have Rehan Ahmed & Shoaib Bashir for the men’s team, if these players kick on England spin bowling looks locked to be in good hands in the future

Mushtaq Ahmed is a great spinner and coach, hope England U19 will benefit from this now

I heard he will be with the end u19 untill Dec and after that will continue with BD.

The reason he did not extend his contract was that BCB did not gave him any indication of contract extension after the T20 WC and he took a deal with the eng under 19. Since he took the deal he have to honor his deal and when his contract with the eng u19 ends in December he will start coaching BD again

What has he done for Bangladesh as a coach? Was there a single achievement? Toy Tigers were thrashed left and right in every tournament.

This guy has really milked the spin consultant / coach role. He floats around from team to team, great little gig he’s got going.

Think he helped Rishad Hossain. BD found first leg spinner after many years only producing left arm spin, off spin.

He must be adding something of value that teams around the world hire him for his services from time to time.
