Muslim Footballers

beckham must be the jewest link

Samir Nasri - incase he been missed

Karim Ziani of Wolfsburg. Just saw him play today.

He's a muslim as well. The lad even fasted during the month of ramadan and still played for the team.

So is Kiran and yet Muslim girls have that name too. Nasri for sure is Muslim, comes from Algerian background.

Im sure i have seen him do that cross thing on the pitch and also i think he has worn the cross on many times - or maybe im confusing him with someone else :13: :13:

Diouf is a muslim.. His mistress was my neighbour though when he was with liverpool and hes been charged with drink driving.. vile, both of them..

So what is the latest with the Muslim XI

Al Habsi
Sagna-Kolo-Srna-Taiwo
Yaya (c) - Kheidra
Ozil - Nasri - Ribery
Dzeko

Subs: GK?, Abidal, Anelka, Aboutrika, Lass, Allefay, Pjanic

*Subject to change

Ok little skeptical on my options for goalie. Can't think of anyone better than Al Habsi which is clear as I can't even name a sub GK!

I feel I am missing some players.

Nah, Al Habsi is quality, certainly good enough

Benzema and Ben Arfa should be there - on the bench at the least

For defenders, you can add Tasci from Stuttgart and Germany

Wasnt aware of Srna being muslim

and there is Sulley Muntari BUT he is a mackem so he gets removed as default :D

Is it confirmed Dzeko is Muslim? If so, I probs have him as my starting striker.

Geordie I was looking for a wide player on the bench. I initially put Ben Arfa but to be honest his form has been patchy over the years and he had one good performance at Newcastle before getting injured. From what I seen of Pjanic, I been impressed.

Dzeko is Muslim, though admitted he doesn't pray 5 times a day.

Sagna has to be the right back. I'd like to see Diaby in there somewhere too.

van Persie may be a Muslim too and if so should definitely be involved.

If Sagna is Muslim, then him def RB. Though for LB, Abidal or Taiwo? Abidal a bit slow but can also play CB.

Dzeko is def my striker then, RVP not muslim. Scroll up for explanation.

Sagna is defo Muslim- straight from Kolo Toure's mouth: We have many Muslim players at the club now – Abou Diaby, Bakary Sagna, and we all go to the mosque to pray together after training.

As for van Persie, I've read the above comments previously. I'm not convinced that he isn't Muslim- he hasn't seemed to categorically and emphatically quash the speculation and it raises question marks for me, as well as his choice of wife and names for his children. Though when his status is open to interpretation that should affect his chances for selection in the team.

I am glad to see that I am no longer alone in taking this seriously :))

What about Muslim managers? Was the Turkey manager from Euro 2008 muslim?

Zidane? Can he be trusted with such an important role?

This is proper stuff this, needs to be taken serious

The Turkish coach is Fatih Terim

also Emre should be in the squad, dont care if he isnt playing to the level he was previously

In recent years I've also looked at creating a Muslim XI myself, which is why I know a fair bit on which player is Muslim (at least I think I do).

As for Muslim managers, the best I can offer is former French manager Phillippe Troussier.

And we are still awaiting our first proper Muslim player at Man Utd...

:sigh:

Wiki ain't a reliable source so I don't think you should go by that...

I really need a center back though....until disproven, who am I to question his faith? :P

Well earlier in the thread someone said Llajic is Muslim. Though he never officially joined us.

Yes, I fear we did another "Pique" by letting him go.

A "Pique": an action where a top quality world-class young player is let go, and Ulster numpties are kept as "great prospects".

I'm not into football/soccer so don't really know which player you're talking about to be honest.

Well it depends I mean they don't allow us to use Wikipedia for research because it is classified as a "unreliable" source, plus anyone can come anytime and edit whatever they wish to.

Its not like we let him go, or Rossi. They requested and in Pique case he wanted to return home, like all Catalan players not realizign that at one point they weren't good enough for Barca so they got sold away but now all of a sudden are wanted back ;-)

To be honest, Pique a bit slow. I think he better suited to SPL (Spanish Premier League).

A true Muslim would never wear a shirt with an image of the devil!

Link: Muslims ban Manchester United shirts over red devil image :D

Younes Kaboul is a Muslim I think, as is 23 year old German international centre-back Serdar Tasci.

On the basis of your inclusion of Srna, surely RvP deserves similar treatment?

Tasci is a good centre so keep him there

Dont ManU have some young lad called Hussain in their academy? I recall watching some match where he was playing

Probably not good enough to get in the team BUT Adel Taarabt is a canny player, doing very well for QPR in the Championship

OHHHHHHHHHHHH yes, I forgot him. He does look canny. I am shocked to see no PL team put a bid in for him this January. I think he should def be playing at a lower-table PL team. Though, he probably will soon with the way QPR are going.

Srna was born to Milka and Uzeir Srna in Metković. He has stated that he owes all his credentials to his father, Uzeir, who kept him alive and faithful during the tough years of the war, helping him pursue his dream as a footballer in light of his own personal tragedies. During World War II Chetniks, killed Uzeir's pregnant mother and his father was killed by a stray bullet during the ethnic cleansing against Bosnian Muslims.[7] Before leaving Croatia to join for Shakhtar, he gifted his parents with a brand new Mercedes.[8] He has a tattoo of a deer playing football on his leg, as 'Srna' in Croatian means 'deer

From Wiki but I assume if his father Muslim, then so is he.

But I also noticed he plays at RB, not CB. Never heard of Tasci. Can Abidal play CB?

He was heavily linked with us BUT unfortunately nothing came of it - he certainly is capable of playing in the Premiership

I recall an interview of his where he says he fasts during Ramadhan (except match days) and how the manager is supportive of that, they change his training etc

Depends, can he play as in has he played there? then yes BUT is he any good? Nope, he is a donkey at centre back

Tasci has played for Germany a few times, was at the World Cup BUT never got to play - good defender

Taarabt is a very good player who is too good for the Championship. May go to the very top in the future. Though having said that he was largely ineffective in the one game I saw him live in this season..

Salomon Kalou is also a Muslim- don't think he has been mentioned. Would fit the bill as a wide player for the bench.

Tasci has played for Germany a few times, was at the World Cup BUT never got to play - good defender
I think he did manage to get a couple of minutes against Uruguay in the World Cup.

He's a good player though- young, in the international set-up and supposedly interested Arsenal and Spurs in the summer. Personally I wouldn't consider Abidal as CB over Tasci and Kaboul.

I'd scrap this Muslim XI and just go with the Turkish national team.

At the very least have Hamit Altintop and Arda Turan in there.

marouanne chamakh (arsenal) is also muslim from morroco. he'd be good as a striker!!

Dzeko better.

BTW, why was this thread moved? Its a sport thread and I fear it will get buried in time pass while at least in the sport forum it gets bumped once in a while :(

we've got 2, Momo Sissoko and the perpetually injured Armand Traore.

It’s great to see so many Muslim footballers doing well. I am not aware of too many British Muslim professional footballers?
