Muslim Man Dragged Out Of Mosque, slapped for not shouting ‘Bharat Mata ki jai’

Mohammed Haroon Kasni, 30, who was assaulted allegedly by Bajrang Dal members outside a mosque in Hisar on Tuesday, has said he kept explaining them that he also was against terrorism, but they did not listen to him.

“I kept explaining that I am also against the terrorists and traitors of the country. But they did not listen and slapped me after dragging me out of the mosque where I was performing namaz,” said Haroon, 30, on Wednesday.

The police on Wednesday arrested the main accused, Anil, who worked at the local auto market in Hisar, The Hindu reported.

A video showing a person slapping Haroon as a crowd coaxes him to chant "Bharat Mata Ki Jai" has gone viral on the internet.

According a report by The Indian Express, the incident happened during a protest by Bajrang Dal activists against the attack on Amarnath pilgrims.

Kasni, a resident of Mirjapur Pol village of Saharanpur district in Uttar Pradesh, had come to Hisar for the first time. At 5.30 pm on Tuesday, he was at Jama Masjid in the town to perform prayers when Bajrang Dal activists allegedly assaulted him.

Haroon, who claimed to be a maulvi. told The Indian Express: “They targeted me because it was easy for them to identify that I am a Muslim because of my beard and cap. Others hid in different corners of the mosque. They would have killed me had the police not arrived.”

Recalling the incident, Haroon said: “The Bajrang Dal activists dragged me out from the mosque and asked me to raise slogans like Jai Shri Ram and Jai Mata Ki. This was issue of my religious faith. I was fearful and kept standing silent. They slapped me again and again.”

Never understood the trend of Forced Patriotism in India where the public is harassed by mobs to sign the Nationalistic Anthems and Slogans. Also playing Anthems in Cinema Halls and Concerts is so ridiculous.

Intolerance to minorities is well known in India, but this harrasssment and Mob mentality by Nationalistic Vigilantes doesn't spare anyone.

Intolerance to minorities is well known in India, but this harrasssment and Mob mentality by Nationalistic Vigilantes doesn't spare anyone.

Beating people who don't sing the Anthem or those who don't stand while the Anthem is being played just reeks of insecurity and forced Nationalism. It's considered a litmus test of being patriot or traitor.

Forced nationalism, purposeful targeting of a group of people (mind you there are about 200 million Muslims in India), and forced religion usually leads to internal civil war and breakage of a country. If such actions continue then in my perspective we might see another "Pakistan" break away from India. Usually, such things lead to a domino effect.

Looks like India didn't learn from what happened in the previous century. This radical behaviour displayed by nationalistic Hindu's will eventually lead to the inevitable outcome of separation of the country.

This nationalistic jingoism needs to be put to an end by the government, but when people like Modi are the ones in charge, what can one expect.

Thanx to jinnah but spare ahmadi muslims for god sake. i have heard that the ratio of these muslims attacked in pakistan in only past one year is way much greater than muslims targeted in india in past 5 years for beef issue.

And i dnt see many indians applying for citizenship in pakistan as many pakistani hindus or sikhs have done.so look at your country. spare india alone.

It seems the easiest way to kill people today is under the pretence of terrorism. Bhai india is largest democracy but i dnt think we shud be proud of this especially where votes get sold for castes , religions , money . Second we dnt see india superpower yet .
Third kashmiris will never get support from anyone in india. Infact we have hardly heard even indian muslims saying much in their favour. Its not like they afraid. They do say many things as much as hindus say.
The thing is after what happened to kashmiri pandits nobody going to support and we dnt see any reason for kashmiris to join pakistan other than same religion. which is not good reason for us. These incidents are a common occurence in India it seems now days. As a nation, India needs to realize the sooner this facist "leader" is removed from public office the better it will be for the future of India (honestly believe electing him has taken India back, and the sideffects of this move will be felt long after he is gone).
