There was no Eid or chaand raat for us in Parachinar this year. Across the country, as people were getting ready for a happy Eid, so many of us here were buying shrouds to bury our loved ones, candles and incense to place on their graves.

As I was penning my sentiments, I could see on TV the scenes of jubilation as the Shawwal moon was sighted. My cellphone was ringing with messages of Eid Mubarak.

I felt disappointed, frustrated and hurt. My heart burnt in anguish thinking of the lives lost, children made orphans and wives made widows after the merciless attack in my hometown that killed more than 70 and injured hundreds more.

I feel like a stranger in my own country. The apathy of my fellow Pakistanis and the media hurts me more than the actual bombings. It is incomprehensible as to why a day of mourning was not declared in the country and why the national flag was not flown at half-mast.

I want to know as to why I am being treated as practically a non-citizen of this country. Where is the hue and cry in the media over the mass killing of people of my area?

I want to know why has there been no high-level meeting to urgently discuss what happened in Parachinar. Why didn’t any politician, high official or anyone of note attend the funerals?

TV channels across the board were broadcasting Eid-related shows; how many minutes were dedicated to the families who had gathered outside the offices of the Political Agent demanding justice, attention and words of sympathy?

I feel dejected and even though I would like to think that I am wrong, I cannot help but wonder if we are being ignored simply due to our sect, our ethnicity and the area to which we belong.

People had to transport dead bodies and the injured in handcarts because we don’t have enough ambulances. Many of the injured would have been saved had we had adequate emergency facilities.

The indifference of the federal government is there for all to see; the state of neglect only becomes more apparent when incidents like these take place. Even small towns like Sahiwal and Gujranwala have the basic amenities that Parachinar desperately lacks.

Homes that were full of life and light not long ago have turned into places of mourning. I met a distraught sister: “My beloved brother, I had just stitched new clothes so that you look like a groom on Eid.” I saw an inconsolable mother at the grave of her 12 year-old child: “O my son, sleep well, your mother will remember your wounds till the last breath of her life.”

Heartbroken at what was happening around me, I went to see my mother. She was down on her knees, head bowed, thinking about her brother whose body was blown to a million pieces in a similar attack previously. My mother’s brother is now joined by her cousin Kamil Hussain who lost his life last week. Kamil was killed in the second explosion; he had rushed to the site to help after the first blast went off.

“My God! Where should I go?” asked my wife. Her father was shot to death on his way home from an Imam Bargah a few years ago. “All I see around me is either the mutilated bodies of the victims, or Pakistanis celebrating Eid in the rest of the country.”

The prime minister visited Bahawalpur and announced compensation for the fire victims there, but we are hurt that he has so far ignored Parachinar. A visit here would have sent a strong message to terrorists; silence is not the way to fight terrorism.

As the rest of the country ignores us, we are trying our best to help ourselves and survive on our own. Maybe our wounds will heal and tears will dry out, but the silence and the indifference to our ordeal will never be forgotten.

#prayforparachinar

You mean as much to me as someone in Peshawar, Quetta, Muzaffarabad, Srinagar, Lahore, Skardu or any other part of the country

I love you Pakistan 🇵🇰💚

Till this Punajbi establishment of Nawaz Sharif is in power; smaller provinces will feel marginalised. Even we in South Punjab feel like outsiders! You should see the state of south Punjab.

We like to sympathize with greedy thieves worthy of the Darwin Award rather than innocent victims of terrorism.

trust me if there as anything we could do we would

we an only pray

All TV channels have been about eid celebrations and talked about parichinar in passing only. They talked more about IK tweeting the barb that people of Quetta and parichinar at are Pakistani also to PM rather than what is going on in Parichinar. I know they are doing a dharna till they get response for COAS and PM. Feel your pain wish the life of all Pakistanis was equal for those in power.

The media is always silent about Shia Genocide in Pakistan despite how rampant it is. And there's no surprise behind it either, I wouldn't expect anything less from a Pro Wahabbi government who refuse to not only stop the terrorism on Shia's of Pakistan but also give them any converge or importance. This has become the norm in Parachinar, Hazara, Gilgit-Baltistan and even Shia Mosques throughout Pakistan.

Since 1 January, 2017 over 250 people have been specifically and exclusively targeted because of the fact that they're Shia. Absolutely disgusting.

All Pakistanis are with the victims of Parachinar, they are in our thoughts. We a a people can go there and comfort them if possible letting them know that they've not been abandoned. When the PM only cares about Lahore there is little else we can do. I am sure Allah will make it up to those who are suffering. Stop making it in to a Shia genocide thing which is exactly what the enemy wants. many Sunni's have died as well over the years in these bombings. Watch yesterday's "aisay nehi chalay ga" to hear what the people are saying. Most Pakistanis have no problem with Shia believers at all or those from any faith.

That is a completely unfair and harsh comment. Whilst it is theft and there is no justification for it, the victims were supposedly from the very bottom of society. Just imagine yourself in their position, a life of struggle.

Sorry to hear about that WebGuru I hope you and your family are ok

He has a point. People have sympathized more with the Bhawalpur incident than they have with this one. The evidence is there for you to see. PM made an effort with them. Media gave them coverage. Check out the post count in the respective threads. I'm not saying they aren't victims but they were victims of their own greed and stupidity. Can you dare say the same about the people of Parachinar?

WebGuru is talking about himself. That's the title of the article.

A dawn writer Riaz Ali Toori posted this on Dawn website so i thought about sharing it i was really upset to see the silence of our media channels and govt on Parachinar and the attack getting almost no coverage in the media with 70+ dead bodies and 100s of injured people. This is the third attack in Parachinar we really need to set our priorities right there is Pakistan outside Punjab.

Let's not be naive, everybody knows the reason why Parachinar gets attacked time and time again. It is an area with a large Shia population and they have now experienced four major attacks this year. This is not a coincidence.

Infact the group that claimed responsibility for the attack - Al Alami (a faction of LEJ) - said they were specifically targeting Shias.

If we want to work towards improving Pakistan, then we need to be honest about the situation and not sweep it under the rug.

We always blame outside forces for terrorist attacks. When it is being done by our own people to each other. Stop blaming others and start solving the problem even if outside forces are providing support to them the people doing the acts are Pakistani

Why is Parachinar getting attacked again and again? Is this a recruitment hub for Pakistani Shia militants fighting for Iran and Assad in Iraq and Syria?

i firmly believe that parachinar attackers were backed by the military

i saw one video of parachinar guy who told that there are check posts all surrounding the city, even the parachinar resident cannot enter the city without going through check posts

one guy was shot as he was transporting his brother who had cancer to Peshawar and ran speedily

frontier corps (FC) shot and killed 7 parachinar protesters (this has occurred for the second time and goes to show that the military is hand in glove with this terrorism/ you arrest terrorists not kill protesters)

i firmly believe that establishment backs lashkar e jhangvi and other sectarian outfits.

cities like quetta are the hub of LeJ operation all across the Balochistan and FATA province

they were created to counter iranian revolution by agencies in the 80s and let lose

i believe that it has something to do with anti iran saudi alliance and pakistan is obliging this alliance by gifting the saudi alliance with shia killings

im not a shia btw

I read this Online.

Where is National Action Plan ? Cyber Crime Bill & Laws against Hate Speeches ?

Will the Civilian Government & Army act upon this ?

Will there be any arrests or pick ups ?

I have same questions & same sentiments.

Is Zaid Zaman Hamid immune from Pakistan National Law ?

83 years Old Shakoor Bhaee is behind the bars for 4 years for selling Copies of Quran to his faith fellows. Charged under NAP so what gives immunity to Zaid Zaman Hamid ?

NO. They are repeatedly being attacked because they are Shia. Do you not even understand? All the Islamist militant groups (ISIS, Taliban, Al Qaeda etc) follow Wahabbism - an orthodox version of Islam which HATES Shia's. They are simply killing and bombing Parachinar because they don't like the version of Islam they follow.

They are even bombing Shia Mosques in big cities like Isb, Lhr, Khi - does that mean it is a recruitment hub for Pakistani Shia militants? NO. Also, what even are "Pakistani Shia militants"?! This is the first time I'm hearing of such a term. Pakistani shia's have always been the recipients of terror and pain and have always chosen to remain silent instead of revenge.

I will keep on raising my voice until I breath Last.

Why didn't ARY, SAMAA, BOL, PAK NEWS gave coverage to protesting families after Shia Muslims Massacre.(For me Martyrdom) ???????

Why ??????????

Because Terrorist Outfits who are behind 75 % Sectarian killings of Pakistanis are Strategic Assets of Deep State ?

Very Easy & Convenient to ridicule & abuse Nawaz Sharif for all this........

Don't reply in a way where NAP, Cyber Crime Bill or Law against hate speech get hold of you ordinary pakistani. Don't want another dissapearance/kidnapping and than stooges on Tv will link you and potray you as a face behind blasphemous posts behind blasphemous pages so that either you fly out somehow or get rotten in jail or get killed by terrorists like Mumtaz Qadri mardood.

This is democracy where (allegedly) sitting government asks institutes under it to dismantle & crush terrorists outfits and sometimes they say Ohhhh there will be severe backlash and sometimes they say they are our National Assets wrt Balochistan, Kashmir or Afghanistan.

Average Pakistani will do what ? Will abuse Sharif & his family. Some will abuse Saudia & Wahabi, Ahl e Hadith, Deobandi, Barelwi Sect.

If a sitting Barelwi, Deobandi, Wahabi/Ahl e Hadith gov asks those under his command to Crush terror outfits than why don't they do it ?

Even if you succeed in getting me abused by some posters through such rallying you will get nothing from it. Reality cannot be changed.

Raisani gov was overthrown through Lashkar e Jhangvi Shia Massacre. Shia genocide did not end.

Forums are for Catharsis. Right ?

I am not blaming any Individual or hurling accusations at any Individual.

If you have the right to post what Shahid Masood, Mubashar Luqman, Imran Khan (anchor), Kamran Shahid, Shaheen Sehbai, Arshad Sharif, Sami Ibrahim, Arif Hameed Bhatti, Sabir Shakir, Orya Maqbool & Zaid Hamid regurgitate on Tv and in print media than I also have the right to post my opinion and beliefs.

All these are theories from either side which each one of us posts. A conspiracy theory for one group is a reality and fact for the other and vice versa. So there is no surprise in it.

I eagerly await your opinion, beliefs, theories, facts & convictions so post them. :)

Well said, the links between the sectarian thugs and the deep state are well established. I was hoping after Malik Ishaq encounter there would be a genuine effort to no longer distinguish between anti-state terrorists and terrorists who are supposed "national assets".

That turned out to be another false dawn.

I do not see any harm in defense secretary or even entire Army advising PM of Pakistan on any matter. This is constitutional and well within their rights. But State Institutes should do their main job and listen to Zardari/Nawaz/Imran or any other PM when they order them on matters involving Pakistanis.

PM's job isn't to resign once his subordinates don't listen to him.

Radd ul Fasaad, Cyber Crime Bill, laws against Hate Speech or Zarb e Azb are meaningless if we have to nurture and support terrorist outfits.

Even without PM's orders those with 100 plus Billion annual budget are supposed to Crush or dismantle them and not have tea and biscuit sessions with terrorists/extremists/murderers.

These Shia Muslims are your football ? You have no shame ? You will get them massacred to throw PPP gov than PML N gov than PTI gov ? Is this your playing field ?

Severe International humiliation and huge blocks of foreign investment due to Poor Law & Order situation affect Economy massively.

PM goes to England for medical treatment + meeting his family and 3 terrorist attacks occur. PM goes to China & terrorist attacks occur. Is this a switch which is pressed ? ?

We must fix these things otherwise Imran Khan will fail to bring a change aswell even if he gets 3 PM terms.

Civilian government whom we elect whoever they are have minimal say in Foreign Policy wrt India & Afghanistan. Your sitting PM does not appoint a Foreign minister because He fears getting stabbed in the back through him.

1. Why go to a far flung place in an obscure little town? More Shias live in Punjab than anywhere else.... why repeated attacks in that place.

2. Pakistani Shia militants fighting for Iran in Syria is a reality you need to accept ....

You and few others regurgitate what they feed you or indoctrine in you.

Nobody said that you post their videos or mention them.

Deep State is a name used to feed your emotions :)

Now start with your rhetoric & personal attacks as follows :

TSPK is a kid hiding in Men's skin

TSPK is immature, childish

TSPK tries to make people fool

Etc etc

I eagerly await your opinions, beliefs, theories, facts and convictions but whenever you dare to quote me it's personal attacks and you did not just that but you had a failed try where you thought I will defend Sharif's in Asghar Khan case where your those from whom I have phobia (allegedly) broke Article 6 of constitution to fund him. You also tried and failed at me defending Sharifs for model town or Sc attack incase they were behind it. Your heart got broken when you saw that TSPK did not defend Sharif's ;)

From now on I will ignore all your posts with personal attacks, digs & slurs and won't reply them and would only Adress incase you quote substance from my Posts.

Mian Ji Read this Post with Wide Open Eyes.

Mian Ji Jaan Deyo :)

1. Why go to a far flung place in an obscure little town? More Shias live in Punjab than anywhere else.... why repeated attacks in that place.

I would think this was pretty much logical and anyone older than 15 years old would most probably understand but never mind, I'll explain it to you. Parachinar is a Shia majority city. The biggest city in FATA. If the militants bomb a busy market place in Parachinar (a Shitte Majority city), it will result in more deaths of Shia's thus achieving their goal of being able kill more Shia's and causing terror.

Punjab definitely has more Shia's but that's because Punjab is one of the most densely and highly populated areas of the world. For every 1 Shia person, there would at least be 20 (if not more) Sunni's or whatever other sects there are and therefore a terror attack there would be more so a terror attack onto the nation than a particular community - which is not their goal since they want to cause panic among Shia citizens of Pakistan.

This isn't about a Sunni vs Shia thing. Both are Muslims. But these "Muslim" militants don't understand that. Hope this helps. :)

2. Pakistani Shia militants fighting for Iran in Syria is a reality you need to accept ....
https://www.google.co.uk/amp/mobile.reuters.com/article/amp/idUSKBN0TT22S20151210

Why is Iran sinically exploiting poverty and maybe sectarian attachments and bringing the war to Pakistan?

Bro, I accept that reality but there is a difference. These are not militants rather average people like you and me who are defending the Shia mosques and shrines, which mind you should be equally important to Muslims of all sects since they are protecting the shrines of people like Imam Hussain (A.S) who was the grandson of the prophet.

They would be militants if they attacked people in Syria or waged war. They are simply guarding Karabala and other important places. Shia's from all over the world going there to protect these places. In fact, more Shia's are going from India than anywhere in the world WITH the permission of their Govt. even though it is not only the responsibility of Shias but all Muslims.

I do not see any harm in defense secretary or even entire Army advising PM of Pakistan on any matter. This is constitutional and well within their rights. Mian Ji you can call every soldier a Saint, Waliullah, Momin, Mutaqqi. I won't mind Mian Ji.

Mian Ji do some reading on the History of Intelligence agencies worldwide including Intelligence agencies of Muslim Countries and how they operate or have operated in World.

Mian Ji Saleem Shehzad wasn't Indiam either and that Baloch female Doctor wasn't Indian Either.

Mian Ji I don't mind if you put blame on all Sectarian aswell as other terrorist attacks on India, Afghanistan, Israel or USA.

No one is denying that we do have sectarian groups in Pakistan who are causing trouble, what we have to do is tell the other group that they are not hated or disliked. As for dealing with the overall problem there is no doubt that these people are being used by outside powers namely RAW and MOSSAD.

The point is that there are bombings in Quetta, G-B, Parachinar, Shia mosques throughout Pakistan and they ARE being exclusively targeted. While Sunni mosques have also been attacked by the Taliban, which is extremely sad and I condemn that but even though Shia's are in minority, their mosques have been the target of terrorism far more times. There's no shame in accepting that Shia's are being exclusively targeted too.

Learnt something new today: Iranian Shias are backing LeJ and TTP who are both anti-Iran and anti-Shias to kill Shias in Pakistan. Wonderful logic!

Did You even read the article I Posted? But ofcourse you knew it all along, you were too readily giving false equivalency and pictures to obfuscate.. like how you mentioned defending Karbala, which ofcourse is in Iraq and not Syria. These Pakistani Shia millitants are fighting for Assad paid for by Iran to keep prop up his regime by subjugating and killing of Sunnis in Syria.... Your answer implies that you are OK with this but let me just you explicitly. Is it OK for Pakistani shias to goto Syria and kill Syrians apposed to Assad (most of whom are sunnis) paid for by Iran?

Here is an excerpt of the article that you should have read:

"According to the group's postings on the internet, some of the Pakistanis fighting in Syria were already residing in Iran, while others come from a community of Pashtun Shi’ites in the town of Parachinar in the Pakistani tribal areas."

So in light of what I originally posted... it does indeed seem that this little obscure town of Parachinar is a recruiting ground for shia militants fighting for Iran and and Assad... The Pakistani Hizbollah!

This to me is a national security matter that needs to be dealt with forthwith... The elders of Parachinar have lot to answer here as well as Iran who is exploiting these people and bringing the syrian war to pakistan. I very much doubt Iran would allow its sunni minority to be being paid for and fighting for another country....

Imran Khan is a brave and honest man with sincere intentions. However, even he refuses to acknowledge the role of LeJ and their off-shoots in the murder of innocent minorities. It's one thing to visit the victims especially when you're not in power, it's another to name them. The easiest thing for anyone to do is to blame it on foreign forces because that is a lie.

When will the Shia genocide be taken notice of?

We are under constant attack from these extremist groups, yet a large amount of the population fail to recognise or take note of the fact that there is a genocide going on in their own country. A lot of attacks against us are not even covered by the media, and as mentioned above, none of the protests in Parichanar are being covered by the media either.

We see this on the news, and it makes us sad, but imagine the hell these people go through. I know of a man from Parichanar here in Auckland who used to live alone. One day, we saw that he has kids with him. My mother talked to the eldest daughter, and then went on to ask about her mother (obviously not knowing the reality), the girl had tears in her eyes and went silent. We later found out that the man was in the process of trying to invite his family here but his wife was killed in a suicide blast in Parichanar, so the kids had to be sent here. This is just one of many stories we hear in the Shia community in a place like Auckland, with a relatively small Shia community.

Enough is enough, it is time that these barbaric attacks get covered and recognised. Something needs to be done about it, people can't just turn a blind eye on the cleansing of a religious minority in their own country.

There are too few of us who can see this unfortunately.

Whether people agree or not,Shias are attacked either with state collaboration or its tacit approval.
In an attack on Shia community in Chilas,a huge mob of an estimated 4000 people gathered and waited for the arrival of buses. They stopped the buses and asked the passengers to show their ID cards. They identified the Shia passengers by name and killed them. And the most shocking thing is that all this happened in the presence of police. Even a police DSP was there on the spot.
Now all this process of identifying and then killing takes lot of time.Where were the army soldiers, police and FC men? Didn't the security agencies knew that a huge mob has gathered in Chilas? In the age of modern technology,it is hard to believe that security agencies did not know about the plan and gathering.

Sorry for the belated reply.

I was really frustrated and disappointed while looking at some posts here (@Eagle_Eye) about Pakistani Shia militants and the need to eliminate "The Pakistani Hizbollah". Honestly speaking, are the Talibans, the Lashkars (all of them) and Sipah-e-Sahaba terrorists eliminated that we are talking about eliminating an extremely tiny fraction of unconfirmed Shia militants who're fighting for Assad. I mean please think sensibly before posting tripe.

Ok let's look at the issue in this way. Suppose that you were living in Parachinar as a Shia and in terror everyday from such bomb blasts. One fateful day, a bomb blast kills your family (God forbid). You come to know that the bombers were ISIS people. You're given the chance to fight them. Would you or would you not avenge your family? It is as simple as that and a no-brainer for anyone in this kind of situation.

Coming back to the topic, I don't feel that these incidents are supported by the army. If this was the case then APS or Mehran Base attack would never have happened. It is true that we do fight proxy wars but I'd much rather say that we as a nation have to be against sectarian attacks. I've seen loads of Pakistani people support terrorist groups because they kill Shia Muslims. Some have literally dedicated pages upon pages on Facebook to inform people about Shia "kaafirs/mushriks". If this type of thinking will not change then I'm afraid we'll keep on fooling ourselves by criticizing Army, PM etc etc instead of looking at ourselves in the mirror.

To all those who still think that Shia are kaafirs/mushriks, then keep in mind that your and mine beloved
Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was Shia "kaafir/mushrik" as well.

'Nuff said.
