Well deserved because frankly speaking that show was acting as the mouthpiece for the PML-N and PPP and making all sorts of absurd allegations against IK and the PTI.

Since 2011 I have observed many notorious journalists who are ridiculously pro PML-N and PPP but completly anti PTI and side with the Mafia party 24/7. It is time to purge this mafia and their tentacles from all segments and institutions in society

I personally don't like NS but just because he or anyone doesn't like PTI, it doesn't mean the show needs to be banned.

Ordinarily I would agree with you but in this case we are dealing with an illegal mafia operation.
As Savak says. they have their tentacles in to everything and this simply has to be stopped.

I can't stand this man. Take a look at his eyes and you see a complete liar.

IK had personal issues with him & also IK can't face criticism just like Imad can't handle short bowling.
Only darbaariz will survive in this era.

That is RUBBISH! I can list dozens of journalists who do nothing but IK bashing, in fact many pretty much copy paste what PMLN social media forwards them as many post pretty much same propaganda. Almost entire liberal brigade of journalists and analysts pretty much abuse him daily. Najam Sethi is next level con artist though, he is extremely venomous and have attacked IK many times. Most recently spread disinformation about IK's divorce again which was pathetic and low level attack. Even if there was some truth (which was rubbish btw), what was he trying to achieve?

Having said that, such characters should be tolerated (no matter how difficult it is).

That is the problem with Pak. We are giving liars and cheats the right to do whatever they want.

What about people who consider IK and all of his party leaders as liar? Would you ban them too?

Some action should be taken against them. There are many corrupt people in the PTI as well. No one should ever be above the law, not even the PM.

Good... this poodle of the Sharifs needs to be banned on all media outlets.

Who decides that?

why can’t we follow a proper procedure? If it was followed and he is accused of something wrong proves to be true then ban him. PEMRA exists for a reason.

Typical act of ignorance to appear smart. He spread fake news regarding IK's marriage without any proof and was given notice by PEMRA to apologize in his show for spreading fake news. The notice also said failure to apologize will result in his show taken off air. He did not apologize.

If it was true then all good.

We must follow laws, and stop becoming the Judge

Proper procedures can only be implemented once the system has been cleaned.
As regards to Sethi, his allegiance is there for all to see. A PMLN appointment through and through from his role in Punjab to his appointment at the PCB and his voca backing for PMLN and the family that runs the party, two of whom are now sitting in jail with three others sitting in London trying to avoid arrest.

We're not talking about small crimes either. This is the rape of an entire country.

Are you kidding me? People have been pointing this out to you for months now abot Sethi!!!!!!!!!!!

What pisses me off is that these same journalists have been on a ruthless anti IK agenda since 2011 and never made this much noise when the PPP and PML-N were in power where the country was being badly mismanaged. Pakistan is a highly corrupt society where everything and everyone can be bought with money. Once you have power you have to ruthlessly clamp down on this badniyat segment of society without mercy

But if we start banning Sharif/Zardari poodles then almost 80% journalists will be banned :))

Thats good then, less negativity in the media and less depression and feeling of despair in society

Imran suffers from Sethiphobia. He has made false accusations against him in the past due to which PTI had to apologize on his behalf.

Najam Sethi has immense clout and is one of the most well-connected individuals in the country. He will be a great asset for PTI, but unfortunately for Imran, he has shown no interest in joining his circus like the other lotas.

Sethi received a lot of favors from PML-N along with others, he feels duty bound to return the favor now.

This is what happens in a fascist regime.

US must be fascist too then...cause it happens here as well. In fact, journalists are arrested and jailed here for protecting their sources all the time...

A casual observation of Sethi's shows demonstrate that his idiotic uncle gupshup accuracy is probably no more than 25% at best.
A show which has gossip as its central premise should be ridiculed to irrelevance rather than being banned.

He is already onto a third grade channel which nobody even watches. A huge fall from grace.

I can;t believe I am finally reading this.

Everyone knew this about Sethi except Savak who'd blindly defend Sethi for years. Better late than never.

Didn't his wife try buttering upto PTI and Zartaj Gul after they came into power and was told where to go?

Imran is the biggest bully and crybaby in politics. For 10 years, he cursed Nawaz and Zardari non-stop on every TV channel. Now when he's in power and faces criticism, he bans Sethi.

Najam Sethi is is more competent and smart than anyone in the entire PTI.

Pervez Khattak > Najam Sethi

If anyone should be banned it should be Salim Safi, nowadays he is after Mufti Munib the least political & controversial cleric.

Good, why are they giving a convicted forger airtime. What is the agenda? A deserved ban and its long overdue.

There is something called free press and freedom of expression in a democracy.

Something people like you oppose in pakistan and support outside of it.

Whats your opinion?

This is a fascist government. There is only freedom of speech when you speak in their favour, but Imran Khan views Najam Sethi as a big threat, and he has suffered a lot of humiliation because of his paranoia. Najam Sethi is always two steps ahead of everyone when it comes to Imran's dirty secrets, and he would love to see him join PTI but it won't happen.

Reading "Najam Sethi has immense clout" is strangely hilarious.

In all seriousness, I do think that that his views are directly being censored and it's definitely linked to IK and his motives.

However to say that Imran Khan's government is a "fascist regime" is a bit extreme to me. Would you like to elaborate?

Not a fan of these clamps on free speech. Doesn't matter if it's satan himself, dissent should never be suppressed. This will only lead to more fascist practices.

There is nothing democratic about PTI. Anyone who question's Imran's policies and decision-making is met with hostility, and there is an active drive to forcibly suppression the opposition. Taking Najam Sethi's show off-air is just one small example, and something that will never happen in a true democracy.

The irony here is that Imran himself does not have any real power, because he is only here to do the bidding of the military and serve their interests. There will never be true democracy in Pakistan as long as the military is allowed to call the shots and control our foreign policy which is designed to serve their agendas.

Apart from controlling our foreign policy and ensuring that they maintain hostile relations with their neighbouring countries, they also quest to put a leash on the media and influence the judiciary. A country will never achieve true democracy unless its media and its legal system are free from external pressure. That is not the case in Pakistan.

In 1996, Imran Khan started with good intentions. Deep down, he is a good man. An egomaniac but someone who has wanted to do good for the country. However, over the years, he has been corrupted by the lust for power and it has led him to flushing his beliefs and principles down the toilet.

He welcomed all the crooks and frauds in his party (that he used to criticise previously) because they would help him win the election, and he also sided with the military who have helped him come into power. Same military that he used to criticise and insult publicly in the past.

Imran today is not the leader he once was. He sold people a dream but he was not prepared to fight for his dream and swiftly embraced the status quo that he promised to fight, which his supporters now defend by calling it "politics", but for 15 odd years, Imran promised that he will put an end to this "politics".

Where were your claims of fascist govt during model town or when peaceful protesters were targeted in the Islamabad sit ins? You are a hypocrite.

Thanks for this. From my understanding of Pakistani politics, IK and PTI (in general) haven't been seen in the greatest of light for many people due to their actions and "policies" over the years. So I was a little surprised when IK became PM seemingly comfortably, or at-least, that's how it was reported over here.

The military's control over foreign policy does not surprise me one bit. I've read up about the military and their control over the media and it's scary stuff. Dawn would probably be a good example, they've received numerous threats of censorship.

It doesn't help either that the military is such an economic burden on Pakistan's economy that it's got to a point where those at the top are trying to sweep it under the rug by moving expenses and getting politicians to do their bidding. It's certainly not a coincidence to me at-least that military tensions between Pakistan and India have been given more attention recently. All of this, combined with the fact that the investment into social services compared to the military is so big, creates constant financial problems and I doubt PTI care too much about doing anything to it, not that they probably can.

And still you voted for PTI

Oh no. Grandpa always had great insights. My daily routine has been disrupted. A dose of Zaid Hamid, Najam would show both extremes, the senseless and the sensible. It's tyranny!!!

Good decision by the government because he has a very shady past. For e.g. this is him when he was a Baloch rebel (3rd to the left - big guy!) but Mamoon will still find a way to bash PTI and defend Sethi despite what's apparent.

LOL!! Apparently kulbushan's biryani bill in his pocket was made with Najam's credit card.

Najam Sethi is a salty loser who makes a living on making false accusations on someone’s personal life.

But censorship is not the way to go. These people need to be taught a lesson through watchdog journalism that names and shames people like him in public.

Anyhow, most sensible people see through his desperate attempts at creating fake controversies so it really doesn’t matter.

Not only he but his wife & daughter should also be banned. No place for pro indians in Pakistan.

Modi must have done the greatest service to pakistan, because once it goes into War mode, army can do anything without judicial system. This might be the best time to clean the country from traitors within.

Spread fake news and still expect sympathy? not in Naya Pakistan.

India wants it to be normal thats why this use of force to quash the some people who want nothing but violence.

How did you convert an entire nation to 'some'?

Why hasn't the communication ban been lifted? Is it because they want to hide the reaction?

'Speaking truth in Pakistan is becoming an issue', Najam Sethi slams Imran Khan for shutting down TV show

Prominent Pakistani Journalist, former Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman and former Chief Minister of the Pakistani province of Punjab has slammed Pak Prime Minister Imran Khan for shutting down his talk show on Pakistani news channel '24 news'.

In his YouTube channel, Sethi said, "There is a conservative effort on the part of the government to censor media. My show was banned from television because I was speaking the truth and they don't like hearing the truth."

This comes at a time when Imran Khan has been crying about the so-called 'information blockade' in the erstwhile state of Jammu and Kashmir while prominent media personalities in his own country are accusing him of pressurising the media.

Najam Sethi has been critical on the Imran Khan government and its policies.

Sethi went on to say that the opposition uses the term 'Selected Prime Minister' and then finds themselves in jail. He is referring to a number of political arrests that have taken place in Pakistan since Imran Khan became Prime Minister. These arrests include former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, daughter Maryam Sharif and former President Asif Ali Zardari.

Talking of the authenticity of the government Sethi added, "the government is a puppet and strings are being pulled from behind (referring to the Pak Army), if the establishment and the government are working hand in hand, then their combined motives have banned my show from airing"

Najam Sethi was the Chairman PCB when Imran Khan became Prime Minister. Sethi resigned from his post the same day that Imran was elected.

Censoring is never the right option, you only validate the censored message. Why not offer counter-arguments to refute what you deem incorrect?

He spread false news that IK and his present wife are going to be divorced. IK issued a defamation law suit against him, but PEMRA required him to apologize within 30 days, which he didn't hence his program was taken off air.

Always helps to educate oneself before mouthing off.

No need for an emotional response, I was responding in regards to Sethi's general point of view favoring the Sharifs/Bhuttos/.

Preach. All Pakistan has to do is to have more media watchdogs that can debunk journalists like Najam Sethi. Censoring him will send the wrong message and will give the ultra-progressives another opportunity to play the victim card.

when the people are full of ignorance its hard to stop people like sethi.

there already idiots out there crying what has imran done. its been a year. you guys gave corrupt leaders decades give imran a decade and see what changes happen.

this is what happens when you have people that follow religion blindly. they also follow people blindly.

imran obviously had to sell out for the greater good. otherwise he was gonna die and the same merry go round wouldve been operating.

think about how corrupt pakistan is. think about how tough it would be to get anything done.

there is most likely a body trail as well. i dont mind as long as things change.

to get into a position like president and PM you gotta do some shady ****. politics
