If PCB's stream had been live and not 10-15 mins behind the actual live match, their YT views could be well in the range of over 70k+ instead of 10-15k I have seen at some times and even much lower at most times.
It really is bizarre as to why they can't get much right or on point from the start or in the middle of the tournament.
The graphics are still very bad and not readable at all, the score trend that they call it is all over the place with both teams have pretty much the same colour chart and makes it even harder than it is to be seen which belongs to which team.
They really do need to pull up their socks and improve in all aspects of their production for the coming years and get some people who know how to do good work in all of these.
Firstly, the PCB stream gets up to 30K unique views at one moment and about 500-600K viewers in total per match. Add to that, there's another stream maintained by Dot Republic (the same company that manages PCB media) that is showing the match live in 720p which also has viewership.
Note 1: PCB live streams aren't showing up in the archived section of their YT video page now so these figures are from the first few matches when I saw these myself
Note 2: Dot Republic's live channel used to rake in about 5K viewers as well when I was watching the stream there.
Secondly, a match being streamed 10 minutes late really has no impact on people watching it. We are watching the match there for HD quality, and if we are not following it on live text pages, it really does not alter the viewer's behavior.
Thirdly, the graphics need to be redone. It's not the color scheme that's the issue, small things like ALL CAPS TEXT is so hard to read. Someone needs to hire a professional design company that brings the production into modern times canceling all caps text, emboss framing/texts, and layout highlights.
Lastly, it's not about where they are at this moment that matters in terms of cricketing broadcasting but which direction are they heading that really matters. If they are on the upward curve with more and more improvements heading our way, this is a good place to be. Just check the last National T20 cup or any other cup in Pakistan and see the quality there. I was just checking an old tweet of Saj about Danish Azeez and it was impossible to see anything in it; the ball, the bowler, the batsman -- anything and everything was a literal haze and nothing else.
Yes, they need to continuously improve but it's a lot better than before and that's a small victory. Hopefully, this is just the first glimpse of the upward trajectory and not the ultimate.
