Nawaz Sharif in London due to illness - Discussion Thread

Open for everyone.

Saturday is a regular working day for the aforementioned courts.

Secondly, I haven’t admitted anything - if you want to make accusations it is your problem. Since there is no possible way for me to prove or disprove anything here, you can say what you want.

So there are normal sittings or just admin? Is it normal to give bail within 48hrs of applications? Would your corrupt family be able to avail the same treatment from these courts as the top mafia families? And as far as your guilt is concerned, you went on for weeks how its better to be corrupt than be overseas PK paying taxes. As it turned out you had been abroad paying taxes in the USA ( the biggest killer of Muslims) , and then suddenly you shut up on that claim because you also paid taxes. So you have been proven to be corrupt( your words), a hypocrite and a liar. No wonder you are so in love with the mafia.

Dr Awan called to IHC for contempt of court. She had the audacity to challenge the corrupt decision and make this corrupt court face its own mirror. Athar Minullah makes Qayyuym and Malik look like school boys.

Services Hospital Lahore Medical Superintendent Dr Saleem Shahzad Cheema has said that former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's platelets have increased but not to the normal level.

Talking to the media on Saturday, Dr Cheema said that the former premier was not medically fit. He further said that the number of platelets in Nawaz's blood have not increased to a satisfactory level.

He added that Nawaz was made to walk today so doctors could know if he was able to travel or not.

Other doctors are of the opinion that the former prime minister is not in good condition so he remains in the hospital, he said, adding that Nawaz Sharif can make a request if he wants to leave the hospital.

Nawaz Sharif will be declared fit after his platelets count increases to more than 150,000, the MS said.

Dr Cheema further said that Nawaz was being administered steroids to resolve kidney-related problems. He also said that Nawaz's blood sugar level has increased from 200 to 375.

Earlier in the day, Nawaz's family doctor, Dr Adnan Khan, took to Twitter to share updates on Nawaz's health. He said that the former premier's condition remains "critical".

"The treating doctors tried to reduce the steroids dose being given to him but unfortunately resulted in drop in platelet count again which has come down yesterday," he said.

"The cause needs to be diagnosed and established without delay."

The former premier had been shifted to the hospital from the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore’s custody on October 21 after Dr Khan raised alarm.

Initially, Nawaz was reluctant to go to the hospital. However, he later agreed to be treated at the Services Hospital when his younger brother Shahbaz Sharif, who was especially called there, persuaded him.

On Tuesday, the Islamabad High Court had granted bail to Nawaz, suspending his seven-year sentence in the Al-Azizia corruption reference on medical grounds. Earlier, Nawaz had secured bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case from the Lahore High Court, also on medical grounds.

The go is so ill, that he is on the phone to Diesel about the march. I have missed something?

Former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif continues to remain critical and his platelet count has dropped again even as doctors are trying to reduce the steroid dose being administered to the ailing leader.

"Former PM #NawazSharif remains critical. The treating doctors tried to reduce the Steroids dose being given to him but unfortunately resulted in a drop in Platelet count again. The cause needs to be diagnosed & established without delay," Sharif's personal physician Adnan Khan tweeted on Saturday.

"Severe existent co-morbidities has added to the seriousness of the nature of the critical illness, where a very delicate balance has to be maintained between coagulation & anti-coagulation to sustain fragile unstable health status," he said in a follow-up tweet.

Earlier on Tuesday, the doctor said that Sharif's health was in a critical condition and fighting a battle for survival.
Sharif, who was admitted to Lahore's Services Hospital on October 22, is being treated under the supervision of the special medical board of the hospital.

Doctors treating the ailing leader have said that they cannot discharge him from the hospital citing serious health risk, sources told Geo News on Monday. The 69-year-old Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo's platelet count had decreased, with the number dropping to 25,000 from 45,000.

As per the medical board, the platelet count had dwindled owing to medicines being administered to Sharif for a cardiac disease following a minor heart attack earlier.

Doctors have advised that Sharif should be kept under observation till the platelet count comes back to normal. They added that the ailing leader faces a "serious health concern" and could not risk shifting or discharging him.

Sharif was earlier granted bail by the Islamabad High Court on medical grounds in connection with Al Azizia and Chaudhry Sugar Mills corruption cases.

The ailing Pakistani leader was serving a seven-year imprisonment in the Al-Azizia case in Kot Lakhpat jail in Lahore. Besides this, he was remanded in NAB custody in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills matter.

But Well enough to direct the Diesel to do the March.

The Lahore High Court (LHC) is set to announce the verdict on a bail plea filed by PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills (CSM) case today.

A two-member bench of the high court comprising Justice Ali Baqar Najafi and Justice Sardar Ahmad Naeem had reserved its verdict in the case on October 31 after both the petitioner and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had concluded their arguments.

The PML-N vice president had approached the high court on September 30 seeking post-arrest bail in the CSM case, in which she is suspected of money laundering.

Following the sudden deterioration in the health of her father, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, she then filed a miscellaneous petition on October 24 seeking immediate bail on the basis of fundamental rights and humanitarian reasons. On October 29, the Islamabad High Court suspended the former premier's sentence in the Al Azizia case for eight weeks.

Before the court reserved its verdict on Maryam's bail plea, NAB's counsel Jahanzaib Bharwana had opposed her request for bail on humanitarian grounds and said: "It has been established by Supreme Court's verdicts that a suspect can only be granted bail in extraordinary circumstances.

"Maryam Nawaz's case does not qualify as an extraordinary one."

Maryam and her cousin Yousuf Abbas were arrested by NAB on August 8 in the CSM case. Later, on September 25, they were sent to jail on judicial remand by an accountability court in Lahore.

The accountability watchdog suspects Maryam of involvement in money laundering through investments of variable heavy amounts being the main shareholder of the CSM. It has alleged that she was involved in money laundering with the help of some foreigners during the period of 1992-93, when Nawaz was the prime minister.

Maryam was convicted for abetment by an accountability court in the Avenfield corruption case and was sentenced to seven years in prison. Her sentence was later suspended by the Islamabad High Court as it was hearing a review appeal.

Nawaz Sharif's transfer to Sharif Medical City deferred on his request

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who had earlier been discharged on his request from Lahore's Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), changed his mind on Tuesday evening and requested that he spend the night at the hospital, a member of the medical board said.

Nawaz was to be shifted to Sharif Medical City Hospital, but since the release orders for his daughter Maryam Nawaz could not be obtained from Lahore High Court, the former premier decided to delay his departure from the hospital so the two could leave together.

Maryam's bail
Maryam Nawaz has also been under treatment at the Services Hospital since October 23, a day after her father was admitted.

She is awaiting her release on bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case after the LHC had granted her request a day earlier.

The PML-N leader has been ordered to furnish two surety bonds, each worth Rs10 million, and deposit an additional Rs70million and surrender her passport to secure her release.

While her husband retired Captain Mohammad Safdar submitted the additional amount of Rs70 million along with her passport to the court, Maryam's lawyers were late in completing documentation and the surety bonds could not be submitted within the court's working hours.

Discharge slip issued
Nawaz's discharge slip was issued by the hospital on Tuesday evening after a medical check-up was done. An ambulance from Sharif Medical City Hospital had arrived to transport the former premier. PML-N president and brother of the former premier, Shehbaz Sharif, had also arrived to review the arrangements made.

Later, when Nawaz decided to stay on at the hospital till Maryam's release was secured, the ambulance was sent back.

Dr Ayaz said that the former prime minister had himself expressed a desire to be shifted to Sharif Medical City Hospital.

The doctor had earlier informed the media that certain medical tests — including a genetic test — that have been recommended for Nawaz are not available in Pakistan.

His remarks followed a meeting between a 12-member board of the hospital to review Nawaz's health situation and decide the future course of his treatment.

The medical board recommended that a genetic test be carried out after it was observed that Nawaz's platelets could not be raised to normal levels and that his sugar and blood pressure levels were also inconsistent.

Dr Ayaz said that Nawaz's health, overall, had seen an improvement. "If he wishes to travel, he can."

Nawaz has procured bail on medical grounds in the ongoing Chaudhry Sugar Mills case from the Lahore High Court. His seven-year jail sentence in the Al Azizia case has also been suspended by the Islamabad High Court for eight weeks on medical grounds.

Nawaz's health indicators
When asked about Nawaz's health indicators, the doctor said that while his condition has seen a slight improvement, his CBC report has shown a decline in platelet levels yet again. His platelet levels now stand at 30,000 per microliter, he said.

Furthermore, his sugar levels have not been able to be stabilised in the past 15 days. According to the medical board, the former premier's sugar levels are checked 5-6 times daily. The levels have spiked as high as 150-190.

Members of the board said Nawaz's medicines undergo a revision every day and that despite the use of steroids, his sugar levels are unable to be controlled. They said that the use of steroids is necessary to maintain normal functioning of the kidneys. A low dose of these steroids is being given, the board added.

According to Dr Ayaz, during the meeting, it was decided that the dose of steroids should be lowered even further.

The medical board said that Nawaz's blood pressure and cholesterol levels are also beyond what is considered normal.

"We have now removed restrictions from his diet plan," said the board, adding that he will now have a simple diet instead of a restricted one. It was also decided that his water intake should be increased and that he should go for walks daily.

Additionally, some samples were taken so that cardiac, kidney and sugar level tests can be carried out.

Drop in platelet levels
The former premier was rushed to the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS) on October 22 after his personal physician raised an alarm about his deteriorating health.

That day, doctors at the hospital had termed Nawaz's condition as 'serious' despite the transfusion of three mega units of platelets within hours of his admission.

According to the medical tests carried out at the time, the platelet count of the former premier had "dropped from 16,000 to a critical level of 2,000" when he was brought to hospital that night, prompting the medical board members to go for "immediate transfusion of the platelets to save his life", one of the board members had said.

After a struggle of three days, a six-member medical board, headed by Services Hospital Principal Ayaz Mahmood, had diagnosed the reason for Nawaz's declining health.

"It is acute immune thrombocytopenic purpura (ITP), a bleeding disorder, in which the immune system destroys platelets," a board member had told Dawn.

Nawaz shifted to Jati Umra as ICU set up at home

EIrnDiXWsAArYDx

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif reached his residence at Jati Umra in Lahore on Wednesday where a specialised intensive care unit (ICU) has been set up for his treatment.

His daughter, PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz, was formally released from National Accountability Bureau's custody earlier in the day after her robkar (release orders) were issued by an accountability court.

The former premier and his daughter had both departed from Lahore's Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), where they had been admitted since October 23 and 24, respectively.

It was earlier reported that the father-daughter duo, accompanied by Shehbaz and retired captain Safdar, were en route to the Sharif Medical City Hospital in an ambulance.

However, in a statement issued today, PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said that an intensive care unit (ICU) has been set up at the former premier's residence.

She said that the special medical unit had been set up on doctors' recommendations with a view to safeguarding against threats to his health. The unit, where doctors will be available round-the-clock, was set up under the supervision of Nawaz's personal physician, Dr Adnan Khan.

Aurangzeb said that due to the critical situation of Nawaz's health, doctors have restricted meetings with other people. She said that doctors have directed Maryam to ensure that strict safety measures are taken regarding her father's health.

The PML-N spokesperson added that ICU ventilator and cardiac facilities have also been provided. Aurangzeb said that there is a grave danger of the former premier getting an infection due to his low platelet count.

Nawaz was to be shifted to Sharif Medical City Hospital on Tuesday, but since the release orders for his daughter could not be obtained from LHC, the former premier had decided to delay his departure from the hospital so the two could leave together.

Isn't it better for him to stay in a hospital if his condition is really critical? He will have to regularly visit hospital/labs for tests and other procedures i don't think all of them can be made available at home.

Look at that intricate design on the floor. It will put mughal emperors to shame.

Yes very unusual.

The whole scam was done to coincide with the fake Mullahs Azadi movement, the corrupt courts gave bail to the corrupt father and daughter. I wish the IK stops pandering to these crooks and shows them that they are just common criminals and dont deserve any special treatment. IK cannot control life and death and if he dies in jail, he wont be the 1st or last.

Courts are corrupt. Politicians are corrupt. So who is actually not corrupt?

Its duty of the state to provide treatment to the inmate.

So this drama has been exposed as a fraud. Why aren't IK and Buzdar back in court to cancel this fraudulent bail. The duffer is a total fraud.

Looking at the picture, can any of our resident doctors here tell me if the equipment on display is what you will find in an ICU? I would think ICU has a lot more monitoring equipment.
Also what's up with the blue partition in the back? In the hospital, they'd use that for privacy but what would the purpose be in his own home LOL

LAHORE: Former prime minister and Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) supreme leader Nawaz Sharif has reportedly acceded to doctors’ advice and family’s persuasion to go abroad for treatment of his diseases.

“Nawaz Sharif has finally agreed to go to London after the doctors told him categorically that they had already exhausted all medical treatment [options] available in Pakistan and going abroad is the only option left,” a Sharif family source told Dawn on Thursday.

Subsequently, he said, the PML-N had shared with the PTI government the doctors’ recommendations regarding Mr Sharif’s travel abroad. “In light of the doctors’ reports, the government is likely to remove Mr Sharif’s name from the Exit Control List (ECL) in a day or two, enabling him to leave the country,” he added.

The source further said that Mr Sharif might leave for London this week if his name was removed from the ECL. “Though Mr Sharif was not ready to go abroad after the recommendations of the medical board of the Services Hospital and the medics of the Sharif Medical City and the ‘request’ of his family members, he has finally agreed,” he said.

The source said Maryam Nawaz would not go with her father as she had surrendered her passport to the Lahore High Court as surety against the bail granted to her in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case. “At the moment Nawaz Sharif’s health matters more as he is fighting for his life. Maryam Nawaz may explore the option of going to London to look after her father later,” he added.

At present, Mr Sharif’s platelet count has dropped to 24,000. According to the doctors, 50,000 platelets and beyond are required for a patient to be declared fit for [air] travel. When asked that Mr Sharif’s platelet count should be 50,000 and beyond for travel abroad, the source said the doctors might give him high dose to increase his platelets, enabling him to undertake the travel.

Interior Minister retired Brig Ijaz Shah has already hinted at allowing Mr Sharif to go abroad. “If going abroad for treatment is the only option for Nawaz Sharif, then the government will find a way,” he had said.

Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, president of the government-allied Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid, has also asked Prime Minister Imran Khan to allow Mr Sharif to leave the country for his treatment.

Meanwhile, PML-N secretary information Marriyum Aurangzeb said that an emergency meeting of the board of doctors treating Nawaz Sharif was held after his platelets dropped to a dangerous level again.

In a statement, she said the doctors had declared Mr Sharif’s condition “extremely critical”, adding that despite all possible treatments in Pakistan, his condition was not improving.

The former prime minister was shifted to an intensive care unit (ICU) set up at his Jati Umra residence from the Services Hospital on Wednesday. The PML-N said the specialised ICU was set up at the residence on “doctors’ recommendations” and Sharif Medical City’s doctors would be available there round the clock.

Maryam Nawaz, who had been given special permission by the Punjab government to stay at the Services Hospital to look after her father, also left for Jati Umra in Raiwind after having been released on bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case on Wednesday.

A senior PML-N leader told Dawn that Ms Nawaz would only focus on the health of her father and not indulge in any kind of political activity. “Maryam Nawaz has no intentions to take part in any political activity at the moment as her total concentration is on looking after her father.”

The medical board led by Services Institute of Medical Sciences Principal Prof Dr Mahmood Ayaz has already recommended Mr Sharif’s treatment abroad in the wake of his health complications. “We have recommended genetic tests, followed by cardiac treatment under one roof, which requires more diagnosis to provide further treatment to Nawaz Sharif. The panel of doctors has come to a unanimous decision that since the complete genetic test facility is not available in Pakistan, the patient requires treatment abroad,” Dr Ayaz had told Dawn.

He further said: “Doctors have provided the best treatment to the patient [Mr Sharif] here. The patient is stable as compared to the initial days when he was shifted to the hospital. However, his platelets are not stable and the doctors recommended his treatment abroad.”

During the course of treatment at the Services Hospital, the former premier had suffered an angina attack, besides complaints of bleeding from gums and some other parts, because of his fluctuating platelets.

The Islamabad High Court had last week granted bail to Mr Sharif for eight weeks, suspending his seven-year sentence in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference on medical grounds. Earlier, he had also secured bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case from the Lahore High Court on the same ground.

What the hell is going on? If he goes without paying anything then IK should be ashamed of himself and really should also be the end of IK. If he pays then he can get lost and i dont care.

PML-N leader Maryam Nawaz on Friday said that it would be very difficult if she is unable to accompany her father, former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, abroad for medical treatment. She, however, said he should "certainly" go if his heath requires it.

Following an appearance before an accountability court in Lahore regarding the Chaudhry Sugar Mills (CSM) case, Maryam said that her uncle, PML-N president Shehbaz Sharif, had been managing the issue of taking the former premier abroad.

"I obviously can't travel immediately because the court has my passport," she said, referring to the Lahore High Court's (LHC) directive for her to surrender her passport in order to secure her release on bail in the CSM case.

A Sharif family source on Thursday told Dawn that Nawaz had agreed to go to London.

"Nawaz Sharif has finally agreed to go to London after the doctors told him categorically that they had already exhausted all medical treatment [options] available in Pakistan and going abroad is the only option left," the source had said.

The source further said that Nawaz might leave for London this week if his name is removed from the Exit Control List.

Speaking to reporters today, Maryam said: "It is very difficult [for me] that Mian sahib goes abroad for treatment and I am unable to go. It will become very difficult for me because I worry a lot."

She added, however, that it was a matter of his life and he should avail treatment wherever in the world it is available.

Earlier this week, former prime minister Nawaz was shifted to an intensive care unit (ICU) set up at his Jati Umra residence from the Services Institute of Medical Sciences (SIMS), where he was admitted on Oct 22 after his personal physician raised an alarm about his deteriorating health.

On Oct 29, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) had suspended the sentence of the former premier on medical grounds for eight weeks in the Al Azizia case.

Responding to a question about the former premier's health, Maryam said that he was doing better. She said that all treatment available in Pakistan, including steroids, platelet enhancing medicines and drips, had been used but they were not working.

"On a daily basis, his platelet count is dropping," she said, adding that despite exhausting all available treatment options in Pakistan, they have still not been able to diagnose the cause of the fall in Nawaz's platelet levels.

She said that a Services Hospital board consisting of government doctors and Nawaz's private medical board had recommended that the former premier should go to a specialised centre, where a diagnosis can be made regarding why his platelets fell suddenly.

She said that the doctors had added that all available options for treatment had been availed in Pakistan.

"Every possible effort to save [Nawaz's] life should be taken. If he has to go abroad, then he should certainly go."

The PML-N vice-president was asked about whether she would participate in the JUI-F Azadi March sit-in, in response to which she said: "Politics will go on all [my] life but you can't get your parents back."

"I lost my mother one year ago, right now my full attention is on Mian sahib.

"I don't leave him with servants and nurses. I am with him 24/7."

The PML-N leader also dismissed comments regarding a deal being reached, saying that people who are saying such things, should be ashamed.

Maryam added that she had appeared before the court with great difficulty today. The court adjourned proceedings in the CSM case till Nov 22.

Nawaz Sharif's personal physician, Dr Adnan Khan, on Friday said the former premier's condition was "critical" while two British doctors, according to family sources, advised the Sharif family to bring Nawaz to London for specialised treatment immediately.

Dr Khan also endorsed the view that the PML-N supremo needs to be shifted abroad for treatment.

"Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is critically unwell," Dr Khan said in a post on Twitter, adding that the platelet count of the patient was unstable despite maximum therapy.

The doctor said that the unexplained cause and uncertain diagnosis had "complicated the overall clinical scenario". He said that the condition of the patient requires "advanced investigations and specialised care".

Sources within the Sharif family told DawnNewsTV that the family was in contact with two surgeons of a private clinic in London. According to the sources, the two surgeons had advised the family to bring Nawaz to London for treatment and "genetic tests" which are not available in Pakistan.

The sources said that the platelet levels of the former premier could not rise beyond 24,000 per microlitre despite treatment in the Services Hospital for 16 days. Doctors had warned the family that a level of 50,000 and beyond is required for a patient to be declared fit for [air] travel.

A Sharif family source on Thursday had told Dawn that Nawaz had agreed to go to London.

Interior ministry forwards ECL matter to NAB
The Interior Ministry issued a statement today, saying that it had received a formal application from Mian Shehbaz Sharif for the removal of Nawaz's name from the Exit Control List (ECL) on health grounds and treatment abroad.

The ministry said it had referred the matter to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB). Furthermore, a similar request was also sent to NAB by Shehbaz Sharif. The ministry said it also forwarded Nawaz's health reports received from Sharif Medical City, Lahore to the "Standing Medical Board" for their input and review.

The statement said that the ministry took all necessary actions keeping in view the urgency of the matter as pleaded by Shehbaz Sharif in his request.

'Extremely critical'
On Thursday, PML-N secretary information Marriyum Aurangzeb had said that an emergency meeting of the board of doctors treating Nawaz Sharif was held after his platelets dropped to a dangerous level again.

In a statement, she said the doctors had declared Nawaz's condition “extremely critical”, adding that despite all possible treatments in Pakistan, his condition was not improving.

What can be the cause of such sudden drop of platelets? That too its not rising despite efforts.

Is it just thrombocytopenia or pancytopenia?

You guys are in Pakistan, any idea?

Aplastic Anaemia? If yes, whats the cause?

It's Politics bro. Everyone was fine outside jail, Zardari, Nawaz, Khaqan e.t.c e.t.c but everyone is getting cancer in the jail.

They are just trying to run away from the country on medical grounds. Thats it.

One of my fellow surgery resident spent some time around NS in services hospital. He says that NS had petechias around his arms and legs, an episode of epistaxis, as well as bleeding gums, all of which should more than evince the fact that he certainly had dropped platelets, despite the trolls claiming it as being mere 'dramaybaazi'.

As for the cause, it is hard to tell without labs. I personally think that it is isolated thrombocytopenia. His hemoglobin and WBC counts, as I heard, were more or less normal. Since he could not undergo a bone marrow biopsy, neither myelodysplastic disorders nor ITP can be effectively ruled out.

Courts are corrupt. Politicians are corrupt. So who is actually not corrupt?

Its duty of the state to provide treatment to the inmate.

Everykind of treatment has been given to THEM, but they are not satisfied with their own hopsital. They used to check their Blood pressure in UK :)) So obviously its a very solid reason for them to run away from the country.

I am not sure what’s going but if he hasn’t paid and he is allowed to go by IK, then IK has to explain and resign. You cannot allow a criminal to go abroad without him using a plea bargain. We know the courts are corrupt but the ECL is something under the control of the govt and the SC.

Isn’t the condition also associated with HIV?

This is the country of Pakistan for you. Everyone has a price, spend enough money, buy people, create enough noise to create pressure and go promote a big lie

Thank you for the detailed information. This is indeed very concerning. Because of the mass media propaganda and the PTI trolling, it is impossible to get accurate reports over his condition.

PTI trolls will go to any depth. At this point, they don’t have an iota of shame or decency left in them. Kulsoom Nawaz had to die to prove that she was critical.

I really wish the Y word wasn’t censored here. Fits these trolls to perfection.

Thanks for the info.

But why was bone marrow not done? Its shocking.

Its true that its impossible to diagnose the cause without bone marrow biopsy. Someone should tell the court why it was not done.

Though isolated thrombocytopenia points towards ITP.

But if bone marrow was not done, its a serious deficiency of treatment.

Isnt it odd that no bone marrow biopsy was done in a patient with thrombocytopenia?

How were they hoping to get the diagnosis?

12 Billion Dollars , confessional video, agreement signed with witnesses from middle east.

No NRO... but plea bargain... the details are being kept hidden on request of PMLN leadership as it may end their political career forever.

IK govt got the money back to Pakistan.

same plea bargain is going on with Zardari ....

It is difficult to comment without examining the report. However, bone marrow biopsy can lead to excessive bleeding in patients with low platelets, plus it can lead to heart problems which Nawaz has a history of.

Considering his present state and history, the chances of complications are quite high.

Every Media is acknowledging that NS is not well. Provide evidence of your claim.
About report, it is up to NS to release them. Not the government or you and I.

If I correctly recall, NS himself declined to undergo biopsy of bone marrow. He anyway seems to have been treated along the lines of ITP. But I was amazed at the consultants team arranged for his medical aid. Most of whom just wanted to dance attendance on NS -- in case he comes back in power. What a circus!

That is correct.

But its impossible to get a Dx without bone marrow here. Its a case of weighing the benefits and doing a high risk procedure to save the patients life.

Its true, confessional video is an additional thing with agreement, becoz of NS past record of denial.
and Maryam will stay back in pakistan for few weeks/days and after that she will go too. its all according to plan. now noonies will be yateem for atleast a decade or two.

So treatment along ITP lines, without confirmation Dx.

Now what if its not ITP but MDD?

It just seems too good to be true. For a start these guys have money as assets and it takes years to convert into Cash and Cash equivalent, and the other thing is that it will be with front men, and those guys aren't the kind to volunteer their own guilt by selling the assets. As I said if he has paid then it's great news, but if hasn't paid, IK has lost. Let's hope you are right and I am wrong.

the "third party" is involved from middle east to make sure NS family wont back track the deal. They know the NS family assets and cash inside out. people will believe when Zardari will also go abroad for medical reason just like NS. according to some sources Zardari is more ill thn NS. but NS is going now after NAB gves the green signal. only time will tell.

What happens if they go back on their promise? And Why would the 3rd party get involved?

To be fair, I feel that Nawaz Sharif did not want to fly abroad for treatment, at first. He gave platelet transfusion, immunoglobulins, and most of all, the government-arranged woefully incompetent medical board a chance.
But you can not subject anyone to non-consensual medical treatment and experimentation (with regards to him declining BM biopsy), especially where the medical team is apparently more intent on obsequious and secret flattery with NS (to gain benefits from him when he returns to power) than on provision of professional medical aid.
And so far as it goes, what with the massive media scuttlebutt about NS faking his illness and what-not. For Pete's sake, he was sick. Stop making a federal case of it, as y'all did with Kulsoom Bibi.
Nonetheless, this ridiculous horseplay had gone far enough. Great decision, in the end, by the former PM to travel to UK in peace, ultimately to acquire professional medical treatment.

third party as guaranteer and witnesses...
they tried to break that before in musharraf era and guess what happend, the royal family send the FM with Airplane to take them back to KSA. they got pissd off, the FM was waving the agreement in PC room.

I would normally be embarrassed by my cynicism but Knowing the family and their dishonesty- remember this was the family that blamed the dead dad for the money laundering, I am not convinced.

Let's see if you are right but I can't trust a family that was willing to blame a dead person for all their criminality and laundering. Who is the 3rd party and why are they the guarantors.

NS family requested to other "brotherly" countries for help, as usual.
dont know the details of the country yet, but even turkey tried that before with IK govt, it was on the news. IK rejected. this time its from middle east. someone close to KSA.

Which is why i am stunned that no BM was done.

What was he being treated for and on what basis?

"The lights are on, but no one is home."
Consequently, NS had to head to UK for specialist treatment, regardless of the afloat deals-and-pleas rumors to the contrary.

LAHORE / ISLAMABAD: In a dramatic turn of events, the government on Saturday delayed the removal of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s name from the no-fly list, thus forcing a change in his plan to leave for London for treatment on Sunday.

Both the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Ministry of Interior couldn’t arrive at a decision regarding removal of the name of the PML-N supremo from the Exit Control List (ECL) for one reason or another.

“Nawaz Sharif, 69, was due to leave for London on Sunday (today) morning on a PIA flight along with his brother Shahbaz Sharif. All arrangements were finalised but at the eleventh hour the PTI government played a trick and did not remove his name from the ECL,” a source told Dawn. He recalled the government on Friday had stated that removal of Mr Nawaz’s name from ECL was just a formality.

“We are wondering that despite Prime Minister Imran Khan’s assurances and his adviser Naeemul Haq and Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi’s positive statements, Nawaz Sharif’s name could not be removed from the ECL, which shows there must be some issue somewhere in this respect,” he said, requesting anonymity.

Ailing PML-N supremo won’t be able to leave for London before Monday

“Mr Nawaz is in extremely critical medical condition, which is worsening with every passing moment as his platelets are not stabilising. He needs to be prepared for travel through potent steroids, and this dichotomy in the government’s statements and actions is only making matters worse,” said the source, adding this delay was “extremely dangerous” for him as every hour was important.

“Who will be blamed if complications arise from such impediments to his travel,” he said.

‘Passing the buck’

“It appeared that both NAB and the interior ministry acted consciously, passed the buck to each other and did not make any decision,” an official said.

NAB sought a medical report regarding Mr Nawaz’s health to make its decision whether to allow him to travel abroad or not.

A senior NAB official, who did not want to be named, told Dawn that the anti-graft watchdog had written to the interior ministry, in reply of the ministry’s letter, that the bureau required a media report of Mr Sharif to ascertain the “severity of his health”.

“Yesterday we received a letter of the interior ministry in which NAB’s consent was sought for removing Nawaz Sharif’s name from the ECL,” he said.

“In our reply, we have asked the ministry to present the medical report of Nawaz Sharif as mentioned in the [ministry’s] letter,” he added. He said NAB would take a decision once it received the medical report.

On the other hand, an Interior Ministry official said that the concerned staff remained in the ministry despite the fact that Saturday was the weekly holiday and waited for NAB’s reply.

The ministry expected that NAB would have no objection to PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif’s application seeking removal of Mr Nawaz’s name from the ECL. However, NAB asked for the medical report.

On Friday Mr Nawaz, convicted in the Al-Azizia corruption case, was allowed in principle to travel abroad for seeking medical treatment while his daughter Maryam Nawaz, who is on bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case, has to stay in the country till further orders, according to a decision taken by PM Khan.

Interior Ministry’s letter to the NAB said that health reports of Nawaz Sharif, received from the Sharif Medical City Lahore, had been forwarded to a medical board for their input and review. “Now this matter will be taken up on Monday,” the official said.

“The ministry has taken all necessary actions keeping in view the urgency of the matter as pleaded by Shahbaz Sharif in his request and will forward the matter to the competent authority in view of the facts and after consulting all stakeholders,” it added.

Special Assistant to the PM on Information Firdous Ashiq Awan was not available for comment on the matter. However, a member of the federal cabinet told Dawn that the government seemed to be stuck in a catch-22 situation.

“The government wants NAB to share some part in the permission being given to Mr Nawaz for travel abroad, but NAB chairman retired Justice Javed Iqbal seems cautious,” he said.

When asked had PM Khan changed his mind because of the NRO (deal) echoing from almost all quarters, the minister said: “This is not the case.”

When quizzed whether Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s prolonged sit-in had got anything to do with it or were there any differences between the premier and the establishment over Mr Nawaz’s departure, he said he was not sure of.

Meanwhile, Minister for Railways Sheikh Rashid claimed that two political parties have cashed in on Maulana Fazl’s sit-in.

“I am clearly telling you that two parties (PML-N and PPP) have cashed in on the sit-in. And for Maulana sahib, I can just pray,” he said while responding to queries at a presser on Saturday.

“The government has dealt with Nawaz Sharif’s case on humanitarian grounds keeping in view his deteriorating health. I wholeheartedly pray for his health and whatsoever Imran Khan has done to allow him to go abroad for medical treatment it is the need of the hour,” he added.

The minister predicted that soon the cases against PPP leader Asif Ali Zardari would close one by one on the basis of plea bargain.

MULTAN: Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif should go abroad for better treatment, said Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi on Sunday.

The foreign minister, while speaking to the media in Multan, said the government has created no impediments for former prime minister Nawaz Sharif in going abroad. He said that Nawaz Sharif can go anywhere he wants for his treatment.

The minister also informed that the government provided the PML-N supremo with the best medical treatment.

While commenting on the ongoing Azadi March sit-in, the minister stated that holding a sit-in is the right of every political party. He added that the government has provided the protesters with all sort of facilities.

According to reports, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz supremo is set to fly to London on Monday.

As former prime minister Nawaz Sharif awaits his removal from the Exit Control List (ECL), doctors on Sunday continued to struggle to get his platelet levels up to the required mark for travel to London.

PML-N spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb said that a high dose of steroids had been administered to Nawaz in preparation for his expected departure tomorrow (Monday).

"Doctors have warned against giving him such high doses of steroids repeatedly," she said. "They cannot risk any further damage in trying to get his platelet levels to rise."

Aurangzeb said that the drop in the former premier's platelet levels continues to worry doctors. "They are ambivalent about how to approach his treatment. They worry there might be a further deterioration in his health."

The PML-N leader said that if Nawaz's health worsens any further, it will be "almost impossible to take him abroad".

According to doctors "every single moment is precious" when it comes to getting Nawaz treated. "As time passes by, the threats to his health increase. It is imperative we send him abroad for treatment immediately," they said.

The Islamabad High Court had last week granted bail to Nawaz for eight weeks, suspending his seven-year sentence in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills corruption reference on medical grounds. Earlier, he had also secured bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case from the Lahore High Court on the same grounds.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi on Sunday said that “legal obstacles” to Sharif's departure were being removed as doctors had stressed that medical treatment abroad was needed to save his life.

“The government has given importance to the doctors' opinion,” Qureshi told reporters in Multan.

“We pray to God for his recovery, so that he returns with good health and takes part in politics,” he added.

Delay in departure
The government on Saturday had delayed the removal of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s name from the no-fly list, thus forcing a change in his plan to leave for London for treatment on Sunday.

Both the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and the Ministry of Interior couldn’t arrive at a decision regarding the removal of the name of the PML-N supremo from the ECL for one reason or another.

All arrangements were finalised but at the eleventh hour the PTI government played a trick and did not remove his name from the ECL,” a source told Dawn. He recalled that the government on Friday had stated that removal of Nawaz’s name from the no-fly list was just a formality.

Nawaz's daughter Maryam Nawaz will not be able to accompany her father abroad as she had to surrender her passport in order to secure her release on bail in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills case.

Interior ministry forwards ECL matter to NAB
The Interior Ministry had issued a statement on Friday, saying that it had received a formal application from Shehbaz for the removal of Nawaz's name from the ECL on health grounds and treatment abroad. It said it had referred the matter to NAB. Shehbaz had also sent a similar request to NAB.

The ministry had said it also forwarded Nawaz's health reports received from Sharif Medical City, Lahore to the "Standing Medical Board" for their input and review.

The statement said that the ministry took all necessary actions keeping in view the urgency of the matter as pleaded by Shehbaz Sharif in his request.

'Extremely critical'
On Thursday, Aurangzeb had said that an emergency meeting of the board of doctors treating Nawaz had been called after his platelets dropped to a dangerous level again.

In a statement, she had said the doctors had declared Nawaz's condition “extremely critical”, adding that despite all possible treatments in Pakistan, his condition was not improving and it was recommended he seek treatment abroad.

During the course of treatment at the Services Institute of Medical Sciences where he had been admitted for 16 days, the former premier had suffered an angina attack, besides complaints of bleeding from gums and some other parts, because of his fluctuating platelets.

I dont understand why does he need to go abroad? Why not get the top most doctors from the west here and all the western facilities he needs in Pakistan?
