What's new

Netflix Originals, TV shows and Movies

Sunderland till I Die. Season 2.

Brilliant. A must watch for any proper football fan.

Just finished watching ‘The Stranger’. It is intriguing, suspenseful and captivating. I would give it 8/10.

If you are into crime/mystery drama, give it a go!

Watched Three Identical Strangers.

Identical triplets become separated at birth and adopted by three different families. Years later, their amazing reunion becomes a global sensation, but it also unearths an unimaginable secret that has radical repercussions.

Interesting, but it dragged on a bit.

Worth a watch.

Also watched The Mire.

In an early - 80s Polish town, a prostitute and a youth leader are found killed, but the police's handling of the case makes two journalists suspicious.

It was ok, not the best. I thought it was going to get better, but it stayed at the same level.

Started watching Caliphate.

Swedish thriller drama TV series. The story is based on Fatima, an agent of the Swedish Security Service, who receives a tip that a terror attack is being planned in Sweden.

5 episodes in and it's ok. Quite interesting although some of the voice-overs are a bit weird.

Finished this.

Pretty good.

This explores some interesting and controversial topics. Worth a watch.

Peaky Blinders has overtaken GoT as the GOAT show for me.

You must be one of a select few who think Peaky Blinders is in the list of GOAT tv shows. I watched a season, and it was not bad at all, but there wasn't enough in there for me to continue watching it, even though I have access to it for free.

A decent enough show, but not enough in it to make compulsive viewing for me. I don't know why, maybe it just tried too hard to be the brummie version of The Wire.

Started watching The Innocence Files.

A new docuseries uses individual cases of false convictions to reveal a terrifyingly unreliable criminal justice system.

Brilliant series.

Watching The Stranger.

A web of secrets sends family man Adam Price on a desperate quest to discover the truth about the people closest to him.

It's ok, I've watched 6 parts so far, but it's got to the stage now where I want it to finish and move on to the next series.

Just finished watching this. Was a good series overall but the ending didn't make sense to me. How did they manage to put the murder on Katz? He was in custody at the time.

I feel the same as you even as a Brummie I watched first 4 seasons and then stopped after that a while back but the consensus is that it seems to get better and better so perhaps worth sticking with but I cba as I'd have to watch from season 1 again :))

Yep, Better Call Saul is the best TV series airing right now. The current season especially has been fantastic, with the last 2 episodes being GOAT level.

Yes this is another show which I stopped watching but I wouldn't mind starting all over again it was very compelling and the writing similar to Breaking Bad imo

If you guys are into R-Rated animation, Castlevania is outstanding just rewatched first 2 seasons. I don't think there has ever been a time where a very gritty and brutal incarnation of Dracula had a little sympathy.

Watched first episode of Friends, will stick with it. Also looking to dee the new Big Show comedy

Others on my list: Last Kingdom it was tremendous on the BBC didnt know Netflix picked it up and Narcos / ST s3

Looking for best horror tv series on Netflix suggestions? I loved Haunting of Hill House

Looking forward to watching The Last Dance.

All about that great Chicago Bulls team.

Currently watching season 2 of Manifest...

So far it’s pretty good...

All about that great Chicago Bulls team.

The most underrated aspects of that run are Rodman and Phil Jackson.

What’s even more amazing about that team?

They won three chips without a decent center.

I like it a lot. A real slow burner. With Chuck gone, Jimmy is morphing into Saul. I fear for Kim who is perhaps the one decent person on the show. She doesn’t make it to BB.

I love all the little BB references - the loudmouth in the restaurant who gets scammed by Jimmy and Kim is the same one whose car is blown up by Walt at the gas station.

Also the first time that Walt and Jessie meet Saul he shouts “It was Ignacio!”

Disagree - I felt season 1 was the best by a distance, with Churchill and the Fenians in the mix, and the exploration of police corruption.

I think that as the Blinders became more powerful and the lens focused tighter on them, that world became shallower and less interesting.

Just watched the season finale that was released today. This show is epic, but I wonder how they are going to wrap up so many story lines in the last season.

Also, Tony Dalton as Lalo Salamanca is an amazing antagonist.

Why the coronavirus means Netflix and (lockdown) chill

If you're a new subscriber to Netflix, or find yourself watching a lot more of its shows because of a lockdown where you live, you're not alone.

The company says almost 16 million people created accounts in the first three months of this year, almost double the rate of new sign-ups in the final months of 2019.

And it'll come as no surprise to anyone who's been near social media in recent weeks that the Netflix documentary series Tiger King has been a huge hit, reaching 64 million households.

But you might have noticed that the picture is not as clear as you might expect. That's because demand for streaming has been so high that Netflix last month said it would reduce the quality of its videos in Europe to ease strain on internet service providers.

All of that means, that while many companies have seen their share price slump as they're hit by the gloomy economic outlook, the home-entertainment giant's stock market value has jumped by around a third this year.

They won three chips without a decent center.

Watched the first 2 episodes and they were brilliant.

Nearly as much politics as the Pakistan cricket team.

Watched After Life Season 2

After Life follows Tony, whose life is turned upside down after his wife dies from breast cancer. He contemplates suicide, but instead decides to live long enough to punish the world for his wife's death by saying and doing whatever he wants. It is set the fictional town of Tambury, where Tony works as a journalist at the local free newspaper, The Tambury Gazette.

Ricky Gervais at his best.

Sad, yet funny.

Well worth a watch.

Lalo is the standout of this season I agree, worth watching just for him. I do really like the show, it is top quality, the only issue is the same one El Camino faced, all the actors have aged so it doesn't quite ring true as a prequel. I don't mind it being a slow burner, but it means with every subsequent season the actors are going to age even more. When Tuco comes back in he's going to look like his own uncle.

Waco on Netflix. It’s a miniseries about a real event. A standoff between a Christian cult called Branch Davidian and FBI. Fascinating with terrific performances.

Is ''You'' worth the binge watch?

I am hooked to Ozark, so thought I'd consider my options.

Started watching Flint Town.

This docuseries takes a look at the state of policing in America through the experiences of the Flint (Mich.) Police Department. Flint is consistently among the country's most violent cities and its residents have little trust in law enforcement officials in the wake of the coverup of a citywide water contamination that brought the city into the national spotlight. In this series, filmmakers embed with FPD officers as they face infrastructure issues and decreasing resources while risking their lives to protect and serve the community of around 100,000 people.

Very interesting, shows what a tough job police officers have in some parts of the world.

Just finished Deadwood. One of the single greatest shows I’ve seen. Must watch

started watching Money Heist, finally and got through 2 seasons, cant believe i left it so late, what a show.

Started watching Seven Seconds.

Tensions run high between African American citizens and Caucasian cops in Jersey City when a teenage African American boy is critically injured by a cop.

Looks good so far after the first 2 episodes.

Finished this.

It was ok, although I thought 10 episodes was a bit stretched out.

Recommend it for those that like crime dramas.

Watched World's Toughest Prisons.

A few seasons - interesting stuff.

Started watching First and Last.

The first day of jail is probably the hardest for inmates, knowing that it's just the first day of their sentence. On the other hand, with the last day of imprisonment comes a sense of freedom, knowing that they are about to released from the facility. Both days are emotionally charged, but for entirely different reasons This docuseries takes a look at inmates at Georgia's Gwinnett County Jail on the first and last days of their incarcerations to get a sense of the emotions on both ends of the spectrum.

So far, so good.

Just finished Deadwood. One of the single greatest shows I’ve seen. Must watch

Gave up after half a season, didn’t grab me.

Am enjoying Ozark but the unrelenting violence makes it a hard watch for me. Like Breaking Bad but without the humour.

I watched the show in German. For me, the first season is a bit slow going. Let's see how the second season goes.

Keep hearing good things about Money Heist.

Thoughts on it?

Seasons 1,2 and 4 is some of the very best TV you’ll see.

However watch it in Spanish with English subtitles and not the dubbed version.

Money heist in a Bollywood drama disguised as a crime show. Couldn’t get through season 1 and I’ve heard it just gets worse

Season 1 was terrible , season 2 was better but i didn’t continue on it coz I felt the same, too much masala for me but tbf i didnt like Prison break either, just not my genre.

Among Bank heist Inside man alone was worth it for me.

Bollywood dramas on OTT are actually decent, Patal Lok on amazon is really good, a stage for good Indian actors who are side ones in movies.

Jeffrey Epstein - Filthy Rich.

Very interesting series.

I don't think folks here watch much Indian content on OTT. Indian content in OTT is quite different compared to regular films, the intensity is very different. It's is a great platform for underrated actors who usually don't get proper roles in mainstream films due to hero worship and lack of storylines.

Really good? I thought it was cliched. Same usual tropes shown.

Probably you have not seen much. Watch Patallok , it has been a revelation.

Sacred Games, Ghol and Family Man are end to end fascinating. Mirzapur has some brilliant performances and TajMahal 1989 takes is back to those DD Telefilm days. I am not even getting into regional content where surely there are additional gems if not more.

Patallok was decent nothing amazing. Sacred Games was pure trash specially Season 2. Ghol was horrendous. Never watched Family Man so can't comment. Mirzapur I really enjoyed though!

Started watching Surviving R Kelly.

Eye-opening series.

Liking a show or not is subjective. My point was really that in OTT platforms we see lot more diverse genres with relatively unique storylines and intense performances from the crew. It is not same as typical Bollywood flicks. As a matter of fact there are lot of different subjects being tried out in Bollywood in recent years which has created it's niche space and audience in parallel to the regular cliched stuff.

Personally I am loving this particularly from a TV audience standpoint, since the Sass Bahu days our TV has been totally hijacked up by melodramatic crap. Indian audience have been choked without any other options all this while since late 90s. It is at the cusp of an interesting change.

Finally started The Last Dance...

So far it’s been absolutely brilliant.

Pitchers is the best..most by Tvf are good..Panchayat,Yeh Meri family. Mirzapur had good acting but story seemed inspired? The brutality seemed forced as well unlike Patal Lok.

The latest episode of Patriot Act "How coronavirus broke America" is deserving an award, very well written and hosted.

Kudos to Hasan and Prashanth , so happy to see how well the have improved this series has gotten better with each season, this is the difference between youtubers like Lily and them.

Pablo Escobar El Patron Del Mal
Surving Escobar - J.J. Velazquez

Just finished watching these two series from Colombian TV on Netflix. Thoroughly enjoyed both series, especially the focus on the victims plight.

Patal lok is worth it...the story is decent enough but the acting is top notch. Caught Mardaani 2 on Prime, really impressed with that as well.

Magic for Humans , hilarious show esp if people are into sarcastic commentary along with magic. 8/10

Jeffrey Epstein - Filthy Rich.

Very interesting series.

Yea really enjoyed it.

Curious how they don’t mention Ghisliane at all near the end when she was so prominent at the start

Finally got round to watching Mindhunter.

Brilliant series.

Anyone watched Ramy?. He tried to be a Muslim hybrid of every American show there's been. Overtly crude and overdone, self-deprecating to the point of mocking the culture. Has an ahmadi portraying an imam. Best performers are his two friends. On Starzplay in UK and Hulu.

David Beckham is planning to show off his chef skills by launching a new cookery show for a high profile network.

The 45-year-old former footballer has been putting his culinary skills to the test while isolating with his family in his Cotswolds mansion.

However, Dave may soon be inflicting his cooking tips and walk throughs to a far reaching audience amid reports he is trying to concoct a Netflix show starring himself in the chef seat.

He has been inspired by The F Word star and close friend Gordon Ramsay and wants to use his production company Studio 99 to make the series – which he is also pitching to the BBC.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: “One of the unintended benefits of lockdown for David has been the opportunity to do what he loves most - baking.

“He’s been recreating some of his mum’s old recipes, and got a load of pots and pans for his birthday recently.

David’s also used this time to really focus on Studio 99, and initially chatted to Gordon about the pair doing an Instagram Live.

“He’s seen how well Gordon has done with his own cookery shows and his Studio Ramsay production company, and Gordon’s given him some great advice.”

David’s Studio 99 company is reportedly already working on a raft of TV show ideas to feature the star sharing his insights in sport, travel and fashion.

Dave is well known for his love of eel pies and McDonalds burger sauce – which might give fans an idea of what kind of things he may whip up in the kitchen.

Meanwhile a career change may help the star rebrand as the previously unshakeable Brand Beckham empire begins to falter.

Last year Dave and 46-year-old wife Victoria Beckham recorded joint losses for the first time ever.

The pair had their year-on-year wealth dragged down after Vicky’s fashion brand underperformed.

What's wrong with an Ahmedi playing the role of an Imam?

First couple of episodes seemed pretty decent..but i had nothing else to go on..I think its targeted for Muslim Americans don't think its mocking as such.

7/10
Documentary Spelling the dream- story of Indian americans being successful in spelling bee, for all those people incl myself that thought these guys only do spelling bee preparation, they are doing dance, musical instrument and Tennis, ofcourse they are Indian Parents preparing em for Ivy league lol.

Finally got round to watching Mindhunter.

Brilliant series.

Finished 2 seasons.

Can't wait for season 3.

Brilliant.

Started watching The Devil Next Door.

The Devil Next Door is a documentary series about John Demjanjuk, a suspected Nazi extermination camp guard known as "Ivan the Terrible", who spent years living in Cleveland.

Very interesting.

It's a brilliant show. Unfortunately, it has been put in an indefinite hold. The cast and the crew were released from their contracts primarily because Fincher had other projects going on, and he felt unfair to hold other people from getting new work.

Gente-fied - started well but by the end of it almost seemed it became racist and stereotyped the white people completely.

6/10

"13th" - 9/10

Fascinating insight into the world of mass incarceration and prison labour in the US
