What's new

Netflix Originals, TV shows and Movies

Started watching Haunted.

A chilling glimpse into the first-person accounts from people who have witnessed horrifying, peculiar, extraordinary supernatural events and other unexplained phenomena that continue to haunt them.

Some episodes more interesting and believable than others, although all of them are supposed to be based on true events.

Worth a watch for anyone into horror/supernatural stuff.

Too many similar drugs related shows on Netflix. Need something original to watch.

Black Summer

In the dark, early days of a zombie apocalypse, complete strangers band together to find the strength they need to survive and get back to loved ones.

It reminds me of The Walking Dead.

I've watched 3 episodes, really enjoyed it so far.

Really good this. First series was excellent, 2nd series is out now.

Watched Murder on the Coast.

In 1999, teen Rocío Wanninkhof is murdered. Her mother's ex-partner, Dolores Vázquez, is suspected. Did she do it? A second victim reveals the truth.

Very interesting.

Watched - Sophie: A Murder in West Cork

A shocking murder in rural Ireland sets off an increasingly convoluted quest for justice that spans decades and cuts across national borders.

Very interesting viewing for anyone into real life crime documentaries.

Heist

Millions in stolen cash. Missing luxury bourbon. Watch ordinary people almost get away with these extraordinary heists in this true crime series.

Very good series.

Killer Ratings

A true crime television documentary series that was released on Netflix on May 31, 2019, about the Brazilian television presenter and politician Wallace Souza, who was accused of ordering a series of murders to improve the ratings of his popular television news program Canal Livre.

The series present stories and testimonies of professionals who worked on the program, authorities who acted in the case, Wallace's relatives and people who met the politician. The complex plot includes accusations of conspiracy, revelations about political disputes and how violence struck and reaches Manaus in several ways.

Really interesting.

Elize Matsunaga: Once Upon a Crime

The crime shocked Brazil: Elize Matsunaga shot and dismembered her rich husband. Featuring her first interview, this docuseries dives deep into the case.

Well worth a watch if you are into your true crime series.

watching Loki now on Disney plus, good show, but disney havnt been able to recreate marvel the way netflix did.

Currently watching Cocaine Cowboys: The Kings of Miami.

Two childhood friends go from high school dropouts to the most powerful drug kingpins in Miami in this true story of a crime saga that spanned decades.

Brilliant.

Saw it the day it was released. 6/10, expected more from it. May be season 2 will be more exciting.
Saw Season 2 of Lupin.

Better than Season 1 for sure. Far more twists than season 1.

Don't think another season was neded.

Don't think another season was neded.

Agree.

They sort of stretched it out for the 2nd season when it wasn't really needed and there wasn't a lot of new ideas in it.

The Serpent.

Slow, boring & repetitive. It did not need to be 8 episodes.

John of God: The Crimes of a Spiritual Healer

Idolized medium João Teixeira de Faria rises to international fame before horrifying abuse is revealed by survivors, prosecutors and the press.

Very interesting series.

Finished "Who killed Sara".

7/10. 1 extra mark for suspense that's being built up in the dying moments of Season 1. Earlier episodes aided in it looking like a usual run-of-the-mill revenge drama in which a happy go lucky guy had to serve an 18-years prison sentence for killing her own sister which he obviously he didn't!

Season 2 should be very engaging to watch.
Season 2 was good, with much tighter editing, much faster than season 1.

However, we still don't know who killed Sara despite the male lead (Sara's brother) being convinced that he knows who is his sister's killer.

Completed Mindhunter, brilliant show and depiction of the early stages of the FBI’s behavioural science unit, keeps you gripped throughout.

Not sure how many folk use to watch this but I recently picked up Hinterland on Netflix, I can’t recommend it enough, I was deciding between this and Line of Duty but Hinterland was more up my street; a very gritty police procedural set in the rural parts of Aberystwyth, the format is a little similar to Sherlock playing off the ‘Who don it?’ trope but the execution is a great deal of fun and the eerie setting adds to the drama.

Am looking to get into Marianne soon and any other decent Horror I can get my hands on which I’ve not seen before. Another show I will be starting is Vigil, came out last weekend have waited for this a while!

Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror

This series documents the 9/11 terrorist attacks, from Al Qaeda's roots in the 1980s to America's response, both at home and abroad.

Watched 1st part so far, pretty good.

Me & Mrs69 Binge watched all five episodes of season five of Money Heist last night :)

I've started watching ClickBait.

So far so good.

When family man Nick Brewer is abducted in a crime with a sinister online twist, those closest to him race to uncover who is behind it and why.

Watched this recently, pretty interesting

The Women and the Murderer - This documentary traces the capture of serial killer Guy Georges through the tireless work of two women: a police chief and a victim's mother.

Just started watching Dark.

Alarming and scary SF show from Germany.

The dubbing of dialogue is distracting. Should have gone for subtitles IMO.

But it is immediately cerebral and complex after one episode.

i never go with the dubbing, the original German actually adds to it.

That’s how it is on Netflix.

Two episodes in now, and already finding it very hard to follow, and the time jumping has barely started.

Started watching Monsters Inside: The 24 Faces of Billy Milligan

Another brilliant True Crime series on Netflix.

Midnight Mass from Mike Flanaghan. Binge watched it.

If you like slowburn horror/mystery..this is worth a watch.

Crime Stories: India Detectives

New Netflix series.

Cameras following Bengaluru police on the job offer a glimpse into the inner workings of four major crime investigations.

Anyone watched it? If so, your thoughts on it?

New Delhi: In a setback to OTT platform Netflix, the Karnataka high court ordered the blocking of the first episode of a new web series, Crime Stories: India Detectives. On Friday, Justice B.M. Shyam Prasad, while hearing a petition moved by Sridhar Rao, a 28-year-old co-accused in the murder case of 54-year-old Nirmala Chandrasekhar, said that the pilot episode of the series, ‘A Murdered Mother’, should not be streamed as it could cause “harassment and prejudice to the petitioner”, reported Bar and Bench.

Rao had argued in his petition that the pilot episode contained visuals of the police probe against him and Amrutha Chandrasekhar, the daughter of the murder victim, who is also an accused in the case. He contended that the episode would interfere with his defence as it contained visuals from an interview recorded during the investigation and footage of a purported confession. Rao said that the episode would thus prejudice his right to a free and fair trial if allowed to be streamed.

“The Netflix is streaming the recording of the petitioner, made by Minnow Films Ltd, on his custodial interrogations, custodial interview, and the derogatory statement made by police during the investigation in a manner which is against the law,” the petition said, adding that the content also violated the petitioner’s privacy and exposes him to “ridicule and harassment” by the public.

The primary accused, Amrutha, is facing allegations that she killed her mother and attempted to kill her brother before fleeing to the Andaman and Nicobar Islands with Rao.

Responding to the petition, Justice Prasad ordered, “The content being available for viewing, the petitioner would be put to harassment and prejudice. In consideration of these submissions, the respondents, subject to further orders, are called upon to block streaming, broadcasting, telecasting or otherwise making available the content of the Episode No.1 of the Series 1 of the documentary “Crime Stories. India Detective” titled “A Murdered Mother” on Netflix.”

Earlier, Rao had moved the civil court to seek an interim injunction on the episode. When the civil court refused his request while also simultaneously issuing summons to the investigative agency, he moved the high court. The high court, while overturning the civil court’s order, said that “the delay in granting interim order would defeat the very purpose of the application as also the suit, and prejudice the petitioner’s interest without any remedy”.

The high court will hear the matter again on October 21, until which a temporary injunction on the episode will remain in place.

If investigation is going on for a case, then it shouldn't be telecast in my opinion too. Just put it on hold till court gives the verdict after which it can be viewed by public.

Some very interesting methods adopted by the Bangalore police.

Reminded me a bit of the series a few years ago called Karachi Cops, where they had 'their ways' of extracting information from suspects :)

Some socking crimes in this series.

Not watched it yet, but surely it's natural that anyone will act differently if they know they are being recorded?

It was a good watch but most of them were petty crimes in the end. But it did reveal the sad state of child trafficking where parents sell their own children.
In most of these cases cctv is mostly essential for cracking a case and unfortunately if it's not available, the case gets closed!!

The 4th episode is particularly sad as it involves a child.

Child trafficking is one of the worst crimes out there.

Next on the list - House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths

Suicide, murder... or something else? This docuseries examines chilling truths and theories around the deaths of 11 members of a Delhi family.

Midnight Mass - A another gem from the King of Live Action Horror. It all depends on how you define a slow burn because even the quieter moments are thrilling and they maintain a decent pace. Plot revolves around an isolated island community which experiences various events after the arrival of a new priest, themes revolve around religion and its tolerance/in-tolerance inspired by personal characteristics, death, afterlife, addiction and redemption. It’s an interesting spin on a classic horror story.

Will be really interesting to watch. I followed this case quite closely.

Don't think this series will help us in getting any closer to the truth though.

You may like to see this crime docuseries on Hotstar depicting brutal murders of Arushi Talwar and her house help, Hemraj, happened way back in 2008.

Police first arrested other house helps, released them, then the father, released him, then both the parents, released them.

However we still haven't got to know who actually killed the duo. Another of those unsolved murder mysteries.

Started watching Midnight Mass.

Slow start - does it get better?

100% , stick with it till the end. They spend a lot of time early on developing the characters / narrative which plays into the pay off which is worth it.

It is quite a slow burner and way too many monologues for my liking. But the acting is the special bit of the show, some phenomenal work

So far I've just seen a few cats being killed and a dog poisoned

Patience..it’s a slow burn. If you can sit through Bollywood crap then you can manage this. Unless slow burn is not your thing.

I normally sleep through that.

Stopped watching Midnight Mass - not for me.

You - Season 3 has been released.

I thought the first 2 seasons were brilliant, particularly the first season.

The Billion Dollar Code and Chestnut Man, couple of binge-worthy shows that Netflix has come out with recently and both were absolutely worth it.

I have Chestnut Man on my list, how good was that?

Turning Point: 9/11 and the War on Terror

9/10

An excellent watch, a very hard hitting documentary on US acts of deceit, omission and commission on its alleged war on terror especially when US military was tasked to find non existent WMDs in Iraq in 2003 by the likes of Bush, Rumsfeld, Cheney, Powell etc. All of them were complicit in murdering 200,000+ Iraqi citizens and 4K US soldiers in that war. Also, a detailed account on US entering into Afghanistan post Soviet invasion of Afghanistan in late '70s. How it propped up local mujahideen to make Soviets leave Afghanistan. How OBL who blossomed under US patronage and the one who turned rogue later on.

There is also a detailed account of non coordination between FBI and CIA just months prior to 9/11 attacks. Had there been even a little coordination between the 2 premier agencies, there probably won't have any 9/11 attacks.

All in all, Bush was perhaps most incompetent US prez ever.

Started watching The Chestnut Man

At a grisly murder scene sits a figurine made of chestnuts. From this creepy clue, two detectives hunt a killer linked to a politician's missing child.

Seems ok so far.

Finished watching The Motive

In Jerusalem 1986, a 14-year-old boy shoots his family point-blank in their beds. Yet questions persist. In this docuseries, insiders come forward.

Very interesting but at the same time puzzling.

Worth a watch for true crime fans.

Watched Where is Marta?

Teenager Marta del Castillo's disappearance made headlines in Spain. Family, friends, police and more weigh in on a case that is still unresolved.

Very interesting, worth a watch.

Started watching Bad Sport.

True crime and sports intersect in a docuseries that examines global controversies and scandals with firsthand accounts from those involved.

Very good so far.

Muzaffarnagar Baaqi Hai

Great to watch, however shocking to see how vitiated atmosphere becomes whenever sanghis want to win an election. See the gory tales of mayhem unleashed by sanghis on Muslims of Western UP.

PS: Will be on Netflix till 13th November only. Whosoever wants to watch it may do so asap.

It is clearly a propaganda documentary with no truth. The entire documentary is skewed, communal and divisive trying to show one particular community as a monster and other as saint. Netflix stooped too low by airing it.

Been watching Succession on SKY Atlantic. Decent storyline but no way worthy of an Emmy award. Characters such as Tom and Gregg are pointless' over use if profanity and vulgarity has ruined the what could've been an awesome show.

Massively overrated. HBO tax

The lure of money.....

Worth a watch.

Only watched the Hansie Cronje one. Felt a bit sorry for him in all honesty.

Will check out the rest of the episodes.

Arcane on Netflix - Impressions?

Being a League player myself, I absolutely loved Arcane and I think it is right up there with some of the greats. The hype is real for me. Cant wait for season 2. Want to know what non-league players thought of this show!! :qdkcheeky

Non-league fan here. Mobas never attracted me. I am more of a single player open-world gamer.

Anyways, Arcane is an authentic gem. After finishing it, I googled the official wiki page to read further. Can't wait for the 2nd season.

It is for grown-ups', don't let official poster fool you!

Am a big horror fan but apart from the odd series from Flanagan, there’s not much to offer on Netflix in terms of TV series, I have picked out most of the decent movies to and the library is thin in this genre
