With the win in the opener, New Zealand have extended their unbeaten streak against Bangladesh at home to 14 games. Boult's 4fer meant they hardly broke a sweat with the bat, in spite of having to play without their two most experienced batsmen.

So what do Bangladesh have in store in the 2nd ODI? More of the same or a shock win against the hosts?

Better batting performance from Bangladesh compared to last game.

Bangladesh would do well to get 250 from here onwards as they continue to lose.

Yet another selfish ODI innings by Tamim. At this point of his career he couldn’t care less about anything except his personal milestones.

Great to see him miss out on an undeserved century due to a run-out. Justice has been served.

NZ 43/2 in 9 overs. Bangladesh making a comeback into the match.

Tamim has got a responsibility to stabilze the top order by holding one end in this very fragile top order. Bangladesh has got a respectable total ,one of the reason is his innings.

You cannot play anchor role at SR of 60s and 70s. It is an outdated approach and will consistently lead to below par totals.

Tamim can do the same job by striking around 85 and that would have taken Bangladesh to 300 today.

His strike rotation is poor. He produces too many dot balls. A much better player than what he has shown since 2019.

A SR of 69 excluding minnows is not good enough even for Bangladesh.

Good knock from Tom Latham..

The second best run chaser of his generation, only behind Kohli.

Bangladesh look like they were into the game but Latham and Conway just killed their chances.

Win or lose.

A much better show by Bangladesh and it will give them some much needed confidence.

They dropped a couple of sitters off Latham though just after Conway got run out. Only themselves to blame for this defeat.

Only a spectacular collapse can turn this around.

Bangladesh have bowled well but not enough runs to defend at the end of the day, thanks to yet another poorly paced innings by Tamim.

Latham is amongst the most underrated players in the world. Very good all-round batsman.

He was a better player. He has faded in last 2 years as a player. As a batsman he doesn't possess the 2nd gear anymore,i.e strike rotation at good SR. He does have one first and 3rd gear. Like Misbah, eiher tuk tuk or boom boom.
Still we don't have any opener in BD who can tie the shoelace of Tamim, that is such poor condition of our emerging so called talents

Lethal Latham century guides New Zealand to ODI series win

The Blackcaps remained calm and collected as they defeated Bangladesh at Hagley Oval on Tuesday, 23 March, to cement an unassailable 2-0 series lead in their second match of the ICC Cricket World Cup Super League.

A maiden ODI fifty from Devon Conway (72) and a classic captain's knock from Tom Latham(110*) inspired New Zealand to a successful run chase and a five-wicket victory in Christchurch.

As he did in the first ODI, Latham won the toss for the Black Caps and sent Bangladesh into the middle to bat in the day-night contest.

The decision seemed a smart one. The Tigers were immediately put under pressure when Liton Das mistimed a pull shot in the second over, hitting the ball into the hands of Will Young as Matt Henry bagged the opening wicket of the match.

Fortunately for Bangladesh, captain Tamim Iqbal and Soumya Sarkar steadied the ship and recorded an 81-run partnership.

In came Mitchell Santner into the attack, and the left-arm spinner had Sarkar stumped for 32 in the 20th over. Iqbal stormed along until he got run out by some great footwork from Jimmy Neesham for 78.

Mohammad Mithun joined Mushfiqur Rahim in the middle at 133/3, the duo went on to stitch a partnership of 51 runs pushing Bangladesh's score past 184. Mushfiqur's innings came to an end when he mistimed a shot off Santner's bowling, finding Henry Nicholls in the field.

Despite the loss of Musfiqur, Mithun carried Bangladesh forward with his innings of 73* runs off 57 balls. The lower-middle order failed to make an impact as Mahmudullah and Mahedi Hasan failed to get their innings going. Mithun finished his innings unbeaten as Bangladesh set a commendable target of 272.

In the chase, New Zealand got off to a steady start, putting up 28 runs before the end of the fifth over. Martin Guptill then was caught and bowled by Mustafizur Rahman. Mahedi then picked up his maiden ODI wicket, sending back Henry Nicholls for just 13. Two overs later Hasan struck again, dismissing Young after a failed sweep attempt.

Devon Conway and skipper Latham looked to rebuild New Zealand's innings after an early setback. The duo came together when New Zealand were at 53/3. They collaborated for a 113-run partnership. Conway made 72 runs in 93 deliveries before being dismissed run out by Tamim.

Neesham accompanied Latham at the crease as the pair put New Zealand on the brink of victory with their 76-run partnership. Neesham eventually fell to Mustafizur with New Zealand needing 30 runs for a win.

Daryl Mitchell accompanied Latham towards the end as the pair provided the finishing touch to the chase, during the course of which Latham achieved his century guiding New Zealand to a series win.

The final ODI will be played at Basin Reserve in Wellington, on Friday, 26 March.
