If India beating New Zealand in the opening ODI came as no surprise, their defeat in Rajkot certainly did. A depleted New Zealand side outplaying a star-studded Indian team was a timely reminder that cricket owes no one guarantees and everything depends on the way you perform on the day. The Black Caps showed their fighting spirit in the first game, and the result in Rajkot would have boosted their confidence and belief. Bowling remains New Zealand's weaker suit on paper, but in both matches it has punched well above its weight. India, meanwhile, once again struggled against spin. In Rajkot, they managed just 89 runs from 23 overs of spin, lost two wickets, and never truly seized control. In contrast, the Kiwis collected 126 runs off 18 overs against quality Indian spinners, losing only one wicket. The difference lies in their use of the sweep and reverse sweep, options the Indian batters rarely explored. This is clearly an area India will look to address. The series decider moves to Indore, a venue known for big scores, with an average first innings total of 331. Pace or spin matters less here than intent. For the record, spinners at the Holkar Stadium average 32.5 compared to 48.4 for pacers.

It is hard to see India making changes, especially in their batting ranks, but if they do look at their bowling options, Arshdeep Singh could be considered. New Zealand have already impressed on this tour, and a win here would give them their maiden ODI series victory on Indian soil. It will not be easy, though, with the Men in Blue boasting a perfect record at this venue, 7 wins from 7 ODIs. Still, if the Black Caps keep their fighting instincts alive and get their processes right, they have the ability to push India all the way. It promises to be an entertaining contest, with plenty of fireworks on offer.

Waiting for 30 plus years for INdia to lose a ODI series at home lol That must be some waiting.

They might win this time inshallah.

Dary Mitchell is the key.
He has spanked india so badly in all the matches he played against them.

In the last six matches he played against indian trundlers he has scored 3 big centuries and 2 fifties.
I hope he scores another one.

Whoever wins the toss, wins the game

India won the toss and will bat with dew. They have already won unless they make unprofessional mistakes against, basically a NZ "C" team

This dew factor can be confronted by the ICC by making grounds a bit bigger. But that will make many modern batting greats vulnerable to low score innings

The Whiteball cricket is a batters' game now. Might as well use bowling machines instead of bowlers in the games affected by dew.

India have won the toss and have opted to field

Teams:

New Zealand
(Playing XI): Devon Conway, Henry Nicholls, Will Young, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Mitchell Hay(w), Michael Bracewell(c), Zakary Foulkes, Kyle Jamieson, Kristian Clarke, Jayden Lennox

India (Playing XI): Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill(c), Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul(w), Ravindra Jadeja, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Harshit Rana, Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Siraj

Early dent on PP and Canosoles hopes...

India win the toss for a change, and are bowling...

Kiwis are 2 wickets down for less than 10 runs

Canosole will be around soon with his stat padding score updates

That's not accurate. India aren't losing because of the toss. It's because our #6 is rubbish and kills momentum while batting first.

Yes, the conditions do change with the pitch becoming more consistent under lights but a 320 total would've been defended on the previous pitch and even at Indore, a score of 320 should be enough to defend.

They are just unwilling to acknowledge the failures of Jadeja.

NZ A is not winning either. By the way Indian bowling unit is 2nd string. No Varun C< Bumrah, Pandya all match winners in recent times.

Age fudging will never go away in third world countries.

He played his 1st FC game for State in Dec 20222 & that was after he was picked up in IPL [ same year ] . Age fudging 🙄 .

This stadium & it's curator Samundar Singh are notorious for producing absolute roads .
58/2 in 12 ... 300 bare minimum .

That is just one advantage. Ground is almost bare. Ball travels quickly. Boundary size is small here compared to other venues

It is a small ground , pity because it is not a very old stadium , should have planned better .

He might not have fudged his age to play cricket but it's well known fact that people all over India and other sub continent countries temper with their age for jobs and other things.

If you are from India you might have done the same.

Daryll Mitchell is Travis Head lite against India....always scores against us.

Not a single wicket by Siraj. And then we have geniuses telling us he's the best bowler in the squad.

Lol century no.4 loading for darry Mitchell against indian trundlers in last 7 matches.
He loves spanking these trundlers.

You must not let cricketing facts get in way of your trolling . Check the top 2 ODI teams in ICC ranking atm.

TNT Sports should be ashamed of themselves. Showing Australian open in all channels and this match moved to red button. Even there its full of glitch and black screen is coming. Charging a bomb every month and treating Bharatiya game like this on a Sunday.

:sree

If India loses this game (and series), I think this will be the last match for Rohit and Jadeja in ODIs unless they do something special with the bat. I dont see them going to England in summer which will be our next ODI series.

4 out of Daryl Mitchell's 9 ODI centuries have come in India

2 in Pakistan

In total, 6 out of 9 ODI centuries in Asia

More than the skill, I am amazed by the mental strength and belief Daryl Mitchell carries. Built like a warrior, thinks like a warrior and performs like a warrior . :kp

One of the best ODI batsmen in the world. Has been for a few years now

Kohli century no. 54 on cards here, and excellent bowling by Siraj in this match it seems, looking at his Economy rate.

How come this trundlers Arshdeep get so many wickets. He doesn't even bowl at 135 ks.
He is an epic trundler but gets so many wickets.

4 dot balls in last over is not acceptable. The match can go down the wire ... each dot ball can be crucial.
Doesn't matter. You take 10 runs an over anytime batting first, and they managed that.

This is the highest total by a visiting team on this ground and 4th highest ever on this ground. ( But India have 3 crazy totals here, the highest was 418 made in 2011)

Despite India missing so many players India should have restricted NZ. Gill's captaincy needs to be monitored

India should get rid of Rohit. He is so slow on the field. reflex is poor. It is like playing 10 players
