The Shaheens dismissed New Zealand A for 226 and ended Day 2 on 15/1.

Abid Ali was dismissed cheaply early again.

The Shaheens currently trail by 17 runs.

Can our batsmen put on a better display this innings?

Shan, azhar and fawad need to get some runs and time in middle here.
 
Shan and abid fail in both inns. Not a good sign.
 
Shaan waa awful giving catching.practice simple ball...to ne honest i dont think he should be picked at all

They need to be booted, none of these guys including Abid are good enough to represent Pak at test cricket going forward.

Relax. They've had precious little practice in NZ so far.

Certainly in Shan's case there's no better opener in Pakistan to replace him.

Its not just about NZ, I can't be doing with Shan's one good out of every six inns which are usually ducks or single digit scores.

Azhar's on his last legs, Fawad's been brought in about ten years too late and Abid is just not test class. Incidentally, this is why we're seeing them fail here as well.
 
A lot of you guys are just being harsh. This is the only proper practise they’ve had outside of the intra games. The batters deserve the benefit of the doubt.
 
Fawad Alam is the key here , he needs support from others to get them to a decent lead .
 
Big opportunity for Rohail here to show his batting skills , he has played lot of balls , need to make sure he uses this and gets a good score , these two need to rotate the strike , too many dot balls adds more pressure

Also trying to play it out for a draw. This is good grit being shown by the batsmen.
 
50 for Fawad. We need to realize that domestic stats are not meaningless. The fact that Alam has such an impressive record shows he is a competent bat.

That’ll certainly make it competitive but I’m fine with one of them trying to draw this out for safety. You just gotta be gentle with some hits especially flicks cause on these small grounds you can be out caught. Good confident shots by Fawad as well.

Yep people just love giving others a hard time. Plus it helps that the QeA has been using the Kookaburra which is what’s being used in these conditions.
 
Current partnership going into tea is 103 off 230. Good application shown by Fawad and Rohail.
 
Fawad has proven me wrong....good for him n Pak..hope he can play like this in internationals too
 
Both Pakistan batsmen settled now , Rohail showing that he can curb his natural instinct, he should be tried in few games. He can be developed as second WK to Rizwan , so that Rizwan can be rested in some games.
 
This is why we need to give boys some time to adjust to conditions. They have been in strict quarantine without any match practice. Same goes for T20 side. They will also come good Inshallah.

If they can get to 230-250 and them put them into bat for 75 overs that would be good. Good to see rohail getting runs will do his confidence a world of good.looks like fawad has cemented his place for the first test
 
A very good partnership good to see fawad scoring runs and even better to see a young rohail scoring will give him alot of confidence 250 should be the target
 
Fawad nearing a century. His career has been pretty much wasted by the PCB but hopefully he can still have a few good years in him.

Play him at no.5 I say, really proud of Fawad. People need to be more patient with a guy coming back and that to in challenging conditions. However, I reckon they are starting to understand how to play in these conditions.

In other news, I reckon NZ are a man down in Nutall. He’s only bowler 5 overs.
 
40-60 runs more and Pakistan should declare maybe even with 10 overs to spare. Start the accelerator!!!
 
10-20 more runs needed and then declare perhaps send them out to bat with Yasir bowling.

Yep, they don’t recognise class but Alhumdulilah I’m happy for him and for his sake he’s done good. Now for the love of God Fawad get out lol, so that NZ are out to bat.
 
Fawad has secured his position for the series and maybe even beyond.

Great stuff from Rohail as well. A brilliant hundred. He might not get the talent brigade excited, but he has the one thing that matters far more, the determination and the ability to see the weak areas and putting in the hard yards to improve. His power hitting improvement is a good example and where he can't make up from raw power, he has learnt to play those reverse flick, scoops to get more scoring areas(I don't think anyone is doing them as good as him in Pakistan).

Also Rohail has batted over 200 diliveries in this match. That is more than both Haider and Abdullah will get combined on this tour and that is why the Shaheen's FC tour being cancelled is such a big travesty.
 
139 for Fawad. Well played big lad, don’t worry about the 150. It’s the point that’s been proved that counts.

Yes really well played by fawad alot of people were writing him off stating hes old hes proved it again that if he is given a resonable chance he can perform. Hope he replicates this form in the test matches.
 
First-class centuries to young captain Rohail Nazir (100 off 164 balls, 11x4, 2x6) and the vastly experienced Fawad Alam (139 off 233, 11 x 4) have seen Pakistan A take a 286-run lead into the final day at Whangarei's Cobham Oval, with just one wicket in hand.

The pair dominated the Shaheens' second innings of 318/9 in the sun-baked conditions, before late strikes to Matt Henry and Michael Rae brought a total of five wickets for New Zealand A in the final session.

BLACKCAP Henry's overnight 5-52 is his 15th first-class five-wicket bag, while Otago Volts paceman Michael Rae will resume on 3-75 off 17.

Well well some runs on the board at last. Proven domestic cricket performances do count for something.
