What's new

New Zealand v Pakistan | 1st Test | Christchurch | Nov 17-21, 2016 | Day 4

Looool brilliant, guy picks up more wickets... and still the other bowler bowled well.. Yea ok :)))
Rapping up the tail doesn't require much bowling skill. Rahat go lucky with Taylor and Wagner was looking to capitalize on some poor bowling from Rahat... Your inability to comprehend the value of wickets is worrying.

Disappointing performance to say the least.

Hope we add Sharjeel to the next match, to see how he goes can't do worse, if anything he'll score quicker.

Also are we allowed to call a player over, we desperately need a fast bowling all-rounder like Amad Butt or Amir Yamin.

Hope we Amir bowls straight after lunch, the least I'm hoping for Amir to pick up a few wickets.

I hope the selectors pick Amir Yamin for the Australia Tour and 1-2 young batsman like Saud Shakeel.

What's with people and Sharjeel all of a sudden. If he is going to get picked he will fail, then fans would want him dropped from the T20 and ODI sides as well as the test side.

I don't think he will do good either but look at the way the batsman are batting at under 2 RPO. It wouldn't be a bad idea to play him and to see how he does.

Inteenational cricket isn't made for trials. He failed miserably on the Pak A tour of England on the test leg.

We're not winning this one. Have just seen the 1992/1993 series scorecard against the same opposition at Hamilton when we bowled the black cap's out for 93. Was hoping against hope that three or four quick wickets may create a similar scenario., back then we had Waqar, Wasim and Mushtaq. Not a bad attack today in Amir, Sohail, Yasir and Rahat either providing the batsmen give them something to defend. With the first day of the match all lost to rain we're effectively probably going to lose this Test in two and a half days against a very average side. This is just so embarrassing.

Cricket is not played on a spreadsheet, and Rahat released all the pressure in their first innings by bowling filth and getting spanked. On top of that, his first wicket was gifted to a rubbish short and wide delivery by an over the hill Taylor, while his last wicket was gifted to him by the slogging Wagner.
Meanwhile, Sohail and Amir actually deserved their figures instead of benefiting from the New Zealanders' generous gifts. :rahat

To be fair to Yasir, at least he got a game in NZ, unlike a certain Indian offie.

If Pakistan lose in Hamilton, it will only prove they are overrated and that there is one quality side in world cricket atm.

England's drawn series at home to Pakistan will also make them look bad.

I wouldn't say that. What it will prove is Pakistan still can't play when the ball is even remotely moving around. Our batting will rightfully be criticised and exposed for only being any good in the sub continent and the UAE.

Even Jeet showing how to bat in Test Matches. Azhar , Asad etc struggling even after 5 years .

Last match against SL, I recall the pitch having a lot of bounce.

Chameera and Wagner were troubling batsmen with their bouncers.

I would definitely bring in Wahab in place of Yasir.

Only one good side in world cricket. If Pakistan were to lose 0-2 to this average NZ side, it would only make England's performance at home look horrible.

SA IMO are the only sure shot quality side in world cricket atm.

Ian Smith said that it will spin on Day 4 and 5. I'm guessing that Rahat will miss out.

Imho SA are just feasting on a struggling Aus side. They just lost to England at home. Also, I don't think that Cook, du Plessis, Bavuma, Duminy and De Kock can play Yasir in the UAE or Ashwin/Jadeja in India.

Aman told you mate, you guys would be good this series, before this series you said you guys would lose blah blah blah

Quick Question - Is this pitch a drop in? Also what about the one in hamilton?
Don't think it is a drop in but Space Cat would have a better idea.

The commentators are talking about the pitch in Hamilton now. The last Test played there against SL was the first time they had used new soil. There was a lot of pace and bounce in the wicket, I recall plenty here comparing it to the old WACA. Wahab should be the first name on the team sheet, the wicket will suit him.

Against an underdone Pakistan side, if anything this loss only makes you look as bad as us.

So the top scorer of game for pak... sohail khan :)))

well he really outbatted likes of misbah on a difficult pitch...

pakistan need players apart from Younis and Misbah to step up in batting department , otherwise next test and against Australia will be embarrasing

Oh ok. I would be really interested to see coz traditonally Hamilton has been a good batting wicket and provided assistance to spinners.I remember Chameera getting a fifer last time, however don't think the pitch was anywhere near this one.

With shots like that, he's nowhere near the best in the world.

Kohli, Smith, Root, YK, Warner and Bairstow are well ahead of him now.

Very decent pressure being put by the combination of two spinners with the field in. Might be a tactic to use more often.

What format? KW is easily better than Warner and Bairstow in tests. Rahane is part of the elite group in this format as well.

Warner is averaging 28 in tests this year over 3 series. Bairstow has done better but needs to make more of a impact.
Really seems like he's been scoring runs for fun.. must have really had horrible tour of SL..

Pak are certainly not brilliant and yes RSA would currently wipe the floor with them unless they two meet in the sub continent or UAE. It also has to be remembered that Pak did not have even one practise match coming in to the first test. All sides would struggle to play in near alien conditions without playing even one practise match. Let's see the RSA or anyone else going in to a test series like this. It's the PCB who need to take a good look as to why this was allowed to happen.
