What's new

New Zealand v Pakistan | 2nd Test | Hamilton | Nov 25-29, 2016 | Day 5

211 in 31

Thats 6.8 Per Over from here .....

We should Thanks Sami and Azhar for batting out this ridiculously meek draw !!!

If any sensible guy was incharge, Azhar and Sami would lose their test spots for this kind of an approach !!

Sami needs to hit or get out

If he does get out, bring on Sohail Khan to smack a few. Then Sarfraz, Rizwan. If all of them fail then just bring in YK to secure the draw.

Test cricket rules make the difference. All out defensive field & negative bowling makes it very very tough. But nothing is impossible

Remember when Pakistan chased 362 in 60 overs, they had 7 on boundaries still could not stop...It all depends upon situation, couple of boundaries panic bowlers and coulee of wickets change mindset of batsmen....But making 211 in last session is daunting task... Nevertheless openers has to be applauded for putting us in this position, in the morning defeat was looking most likely outcome, now we are dreaming about win!!!

Despite all this blocking 210 in 204 balls is still possible though very hard and will take some special batting and very poor bowling and phattu captaincy. Pak should atleast give it a go, till 4 down, and if they lose 3 more wickets in next 14 overs then just shut the shop.

That part certainly is going our way.

That was the biggest mistake - Angelo allowed "touch & run" on a 60 metre ground, where one can always hit a chancy boundary if 4/5 singles are coming risk free. That's the same mistake done b Moin at Karachi (ENG, 2001) & AUS at Headingley (2001).

Have you noticed that the advertising on the grass is Pakistani?

Reinforces the idea that Pakistan jostled with Australia for the role of third financial power in world cricket.

BTW, good time for Azhar to get out IMHO.

There's no actual advertising on the grass (I am at the ground)

So I guess that it's superimposed by your TV coverage.

Not sure if knowledge of cricket comes from playing the real game or warrior weekends on playstation.

Irrespective of whether Pakistan chase this or not, this is a very good effort also atleast they will carry some momentum to the next series.

MMHS bhai. Aaj bhi batado draw hoga ya Pakistan jeete gi? You always give me hope lol

When all objectivity fails....hurl some banter to the poster who is pointing out the obvious !!

:14: Well Done !!

Do people still believe a win is possible here..

Someone needed to do a Sehwag at the start to make the chase possible. I would say this isn't a bad approach by Sami and Azhar. Pakistan would've more likely lost than won if it had gone for the chase. Though I understand their pragmatism (Edgbaston must have played on their minds), I would've liked both to have played a bit more pro actively in the 2nd session just to reassess at tea.

200 in a session in test is far from easy, but pak has a good chance to win ,sami has to rotate regularly now.

That's funny!

I'm watching on Fox Sports 1 in Australia. Must be a global feed targeted at a Pakistani audience.

No. There too many things wrong with your obvious observations. Far batter to ridicule in summary than address them.

Just possible still. Aslam needs to bat to the end. Babar needs at least a 50.

:)) Homie there is no irrespective.

If Pak manage to draw this test all hell will brake lose around here, go for the win or die trying, there better not be any draw happening and believe me when I tell you all hell will brake lose.

Draw, but it's a very good performance. In 4th innings, it's really tough to concentrate in such hopeless situation. This shows that with better preparation, PAK would have done really well.

The stupidity started 3 months back when PCB scheduled ODI & T20 first - ideally, they should have finished Test series first & allowed Test specialists to work at NCA - then earliest convenience, team to fly down under. After that, played 3 Tests on wickets where any player will forget how to play balls over knee height .........

In other news !! online Dawn newspaper is reporting that PCB has asked Misbah to continue till 2018 !!!!

Would the best troll in decades :yk

This is just disappointing.. Chopped on twice now.
Sarfraz needs to show them how its done now.

Oh man, Babar was looking good as well. Its up to Sarfaraz now to do some run scoring.

Why?Its next to impossible to score 200 in a session man in test cricket that too 4th innings and look Babar out now, better to play it for a draw.

Spin playing quality in cricket history is at it's lowest. The ball that Babar dragged with planted feet was a perfect looping ball to step out & loft in this 60 metre ground. At the end, bowled or stumping maters same, but there is a process of playing percentage shots. At best he would have got a single at sweeper. Probably, after YK, we won't ever see a stepping-out inside-out cover drive to left-arm spinner ..........

I just smiled after reading many comments suggesting and hoping to go for a win. It's T20 jamana hai, so it makes sense that people who have not perception about test cricket and watch only T20s and ODIs are expecting Pakistan to win on a 5th day pitch in New Zealand chasing 368!LOL.Guys, if they were going for a win, they would have lost the game.

A big applause from me to Sami and Azhar.Incredible effort to make this test draw.Honestly speaking, i didn't expect this fighting at all. That will be a bolus booster dose to the confidence of Pakistan ahead of Australian tour and for future.

Babar has to score against pacers just give strike to sami against santner, such silly cricket.

Never underestimate the power of Pakistan's stupidity. NZ may still win this match. There's no way we can chase 200 in a session. Impossible

No offense but there is a big difference between Pakistan and your country.

We are warriors and need to go for the win, again I'm not undermining Bangladesh one bit but please be smarter next time.

Now trying to slog if only we played at 3rpo in first and 4 rpo in second session. I wonder what costs more wickets slogging or just nice smooth batting at 50 strike rate.

If i'm honest this is very tough for us, the RRPO requireed is now 6.4. Don't see it happening unless sarfraz plays a blinder till the end

Has a Test Opener ever looked so horrible while hitting than Sami Aslam ???

Should've essential sohail

Yeah, which is why Sarfi is really our only hope as far as winning this test is concerned. Let's hope he plays a blinder

Problem is new ball is due soon too

So win is really unlikely Even if they try

We're fine as long we get 6rpo for the next 20 overs. No need to try and go crazy. quick singles are needed.

Pakistan should look for draw , instead of looking for win now, no point in loosing more wickets and creating pressure.

Looks like Sami is trying to miss his 3rd chance of a hundred. If chasing was a target, then it should have started after lunch - there is no point getting caught in between. Slogging has an elasticity - 7/over in Test is not feasible.

This match was lost in the first two sessions. You can't be looking for a win and then go for a 2.3 RPO. At least bat at 3 RPO. Now its more than impossible with no hitters in the side.

Yea it's a difficult task in test cricket but this is a different era to the past along with being a good 5th day pitch . Possible if not probable. That's why everyone is watching

Are you for real? MMHS I apologize on his behalf..:danish

8 an over is feasabile with 6 wickets in hand off 15 overs . Take the game deep & chance your arm

I think we should have let Younis come in before Sarfaraz. There are still 25+ overs left and Younis could rotate the strike well especially with spinner bowling.

Sarfaraz would be important later on, can't afford to lose him anytime soon if we want to win.

Isn't, Kiwis won't bowl 15 overs if back to back over goes for 8 each :(. Also, in this light, it's tough to loft for 6.
