Forget the score for a moment and this is just really good cricket. Testing bowling, disciplined batting, great to watch.
 
Imagine if this was the other way around and Pakistan was batting like this...

People would full on lose their minds.
 
Have to say, impressive by Imam in the commentary box. It's not easy by any stretch of the imagination, especially as English is his second language.
 
Naseem average speed was 137.5 kph in his first spell as per commies and its his slowest since his debut. Coming from an injury, hopefully can get his rhythm back.
 
Naseem bowling really nice now

NZ don’t really have much respite here. They are not targeting Faheem and Naseem like they may have planned to do so.

Agreed. Good vocabulary, very few mistakes. Uses 'obviously' and 'you know' a bit too much, but not a big issue. A good job indeed.

Agreed. As far as he can maintain decent control, its good. He eventually start pushing himself more in the long run once his consistency is settled.
 
Naseem 2nd and 3rd spell have been really impressive. He's looked very dangerous and probably a bit unlucky to get a wicket.
 
Have to give it to Williamson and Taylor for such impressive defensive batting against pretty good bowling by Pak
 
It's bit annoying that we haven't been able to capitalise on this start.

NZ batsmen know what to do. Tire out these unfit bowlers and you'll get to the mammoth score required to bat them Pakistan of the game.

A lot of you guys seem to be going a bit too harsh on Pakistan here. They are bowling really well. Quite out of their skins really. These two (Kane and Taylor) have not been able to get away so easily.

Test of patience for everyone really

only one bowler has taken wickets in these conditions. there are 4 pacers
 
Its good idea to mix in a bouncer or two to maybe push batsmen on the backfoot a bit
 
these two are going to be very hard to dislodge , lack of experience in pakistan side is a big problem.

Doesn’t matter. NZ are not here to gift us wickets. This is a challange and they are up against their two best ever middle order batsmen right now.
 
Bowlers have choked out the runs, now they need to take a wicket to tilt the balance towards Pakistan.
 
Respect, this is a very good selection of Faheem. This guy will be very a handy cricketer for us
 
New Zealand have actually done amazingly well after being put into bat on a green pitch. Same tactics against West Indies. Just survive the initial burst, make 400 odd and bundle out opposition cheaply.

Yea NZ has batted well but Pak has bowled pretty well too. I don’t remember NZ going at such a run rate in recent times.
 
This Trundler version of Shah isn’t too bad. Seems to be in better control
 
infact pakistan bowlers have failed to use the conditions to their advantage here , abbas should have gotten a couple. He would not get better conditions than these.

138 is very FOOKING good for an average speed. Starc only Bowles 141 average.
Naseem is fast. Let him be.

But my boy Sameen still deserves his chance.

It's been so long since I saw Steyn bowling in Tests- what was his average speed again?
 
Test Cricket is all about the art of blasting the batsmen out Shoaib Akhtar style. Disciplined line and length bowling can be neutralized by world class batsmen, bowlers needed to attack more with bouncers, Yorkers etc

Bowling attack is too inexperienced other than Abbas (Who has his own limitations) and Yasir.
 
Williamson is technically the best amongst the top 4-5 batsmen.

C'mon man. He is still a kid. 138 is very good. You guys are too harsh.

Doesn't matter what he bowled overseas as long as he doesn't bowl below 135 which he hasn't obviously. Average of 138 is top class.

That's fun too but disciplined bowling with tight contest has it's charm

lack of proper mentorship and guiding hand on the field , young bowlers always need good advice.
 
Anyone agree that we should just ban T20 Internationals?

Franchize cricket is enough right?

Just play tests and odi and players can participate in franchize cricket during their off season.
 
If I take out Naseem’s overs, Kiwis have scored like 55 of 36 overs; that’s like 1.5.... and he is going at 3.5+..... amazing incarnation of Fred Trueman, have to say.
 
Don’t think Naseem has ever brought it back into the right hander? Not even with the old ball, right? Need someone to bring it back in sharp and try and rap the pads. Ideally Right Arm Over instead of Left Arm Over as Kane covers the anglen.

Amir was toothless against Kane in 2016 if I am not mistaken. Kane’s technique is designed to blunt out movement, so this is not a surprise per say.
 
Why don't they try some spin? Captain need to think out of the box, we need wickets and we need them now..

The reason he was picked at such a young age was because he was hyped to the moon for his "150kph" bowling.

If he's going to bowl at average speeds for a fast bowler and get no wickets, what's the point in picking him?

Done nothing in his previous two series abroad.

Naseem has nothing to add when he's operating at this pace. His extra speed is the only reason he's in the team.

Sohail Khan looking like the better option as he can swing the ball and be a reasonable tailend batsman.
 
Is this a good time to bring Yasir in? The ball is almost 50 overs old. They have gotten a bit used to playing the seamers despite them bowling well.

He's bowling the odd jaffa, so I can see why he excites coaches. Did they drop a catch off him? How is the kid ever going to get started if they drop two catches off him every game? Never gets a chance to get his tail up.
 
Will they want to not bring Yasir while Williamson is on the crease?

Guy looks sharp and athletic, decent sprint speed also
 
Looking at how dead and flat this pitch is, our bowers have bowled very well. But just hope they pick up some wickets soon
