Actually Abbas should be a handful if he goes around the wicket given Nicholls is LHB. But need to be accurate and not undo Shaheen’s work.
 
Shaheen is easily the most complete test bowler in Pakistan. Excellent bowler. And that's after playing 3 t20i's and having a greater workload than either Abbas or naseem. Sheer quality!
 
We are clearly missing third seamer. Faheem and Naseem will release all pressure created by shaheen and Abbas

wish we had hassan ali for naseem, with the bonus of lower order quick runs. Hassan can do all what naseem can and some more with ball in hand plus better control.

Yes. Its crucial not to over burden fast bowlers before the age of 24 until their bodies mature. They should manage him like Australia have managed Starc over the last 6 years. Not too many t20is or ODIs and limit his appearances in T20 leagues to make sure hes fit and firing for all test matches .
 
This was a good ploy from Naseem but Abbas dropped it

this is game set match most likely, they will have min 200 run partnership now. And we deserve it for having such a 3rd grade fielders to boot with second grade bowlers bar Shaheen.
 
What an absolute disgrace Pakistani fielders are. I really don't understand how this country continues to produce some of the worst fielders to ever step onto the field for literally decades.

I'll wager it's not a focus when they're growing up as teenagers and if you can't don't focus or learn on it from back then, you are certainly not going to magically figure it out at 30 years old.
 
Nicholls wicket needs to be taken twice. It's like taking 12 wickets instead of 11 in a test match
 
Never has this country put emphasis on fielding. It's not only Abbas. Look at our youngsters like Haider, Talat. People crave for fat Sharjeel who is another pathetic fielder. We never learn

I don't think Rizwan put enough pressure on Nicholls when he came out to bat. Not too late. Persisting with Shaheen or Abbas would have worked though they have bowled a lot today.
 
Catches win matches. Abbas is a club level fielder. This is exactly how you lose a test match
 
Pakistan have been the best catching side in test cricket, the past couple of years. That was poor by those standards.

It's because the standards are so low that as along as you can bat or bowl half decently, you will make the International team easily.

And frankly, there is simply a lack of professionalism.
 
Looking at backup bowlers Misbah has brought Musa and Sohail it's brainless. Mickey would never play such bowlers. Get us out of this misery man. Get this Misbah out. Invest in a good coach especially fielding coach.
 
Customary drop catch by Abbas. It's not a surprise anymore. And the management doesn't give two sh*ts about it because he can land the ball in the right area at medium pace. Such is the level of desperatation in the PCB management clinging on to lethargic, overcooked or undercooked players.
 
Haris Sohail would be more threatening than Yasir. Watch how Santner will bowl on this same wicket.
 
The difference between Mickey and Misbah is . Look at Shaheen. Misbah was against him in WC. Mickey persisted and developed him alongside other bowlers. Failure Misbah replicates it with Naseem and look at the results
 
Guess the chance to win the game is gone now. Williamson and Taylor weathered the storm well and Pakistan is basically playing with 2 bowlers of which only 1 is looking to take wickets.

How many mistakes this management is to be forgiven. I watched a video where Ponting last year called it worst bowling attack to ever visit Australia. We play Yasir who is past it on a green pitch. Then this Naseem good for nothing bowler
 
I knew yasir shah would be thrashed this tour. He was demolished last time he toured new Zealand
 
Have been following this thread. And the sentiments from tight line, length, proper test cricket, etc has quickly changed into NZ have taken the game away?

The worrying part is that this is the sentiment of our crap management and think tank too. Happy with moral victories. And short sighted buffoons.

Yasir, I'm afraid has bowled absolute filth the entire day. Spin or no spin, he's landing the ball in the wrong areas and that is shameful for someone with so much experience. It's like he's taking the pisa out of the team because he knows he will be playing all matches and taking away big salaries.

1. Why is yasir bowling on green surface.
2. Why fast bowlers are not bowling fast and good length to allow bowl to swing
 
It's ridiculous that we're playing 4 seamers and not a single one of them can bowl a 4 over spell above 140kph.

1. Becoz coaches are spineless, incompetent
2. These are defensive tactics, becoz of the way they were hammered last tour of Australia. Pitching it up means u risk going for runs whilst increasing wicket chances. I think with our low quality attack this is the right approach. New ball may bring a couple of wickets and it wont look too bad
 
Already a big loss is on the cards the batsmen will have to play well but the batting lineup looks weak.

Right? Cuz they definitely should've batted first and would've done wonders against Boult-Southee-Jamieson-Wagner.
