Lankans trying to make this match as bowing as possible. Look at the way Kiwis batted on the same pitch, and now this tuk tuk

Whatz up with these Trinitians in this match ? They've formed a single-digit-club here :)))

As long as somebody stays at the other end with Mathews, I'm hopeful. He does perform miracles.

How did these Sri Lankans score so much in the second innings ?? Looks like the wicket FLATTENED aka Madonna's chest before implants..

Played at a snails pace and scored 209 runs in the day for the loss of 5 wickets, which is pretty poor. It was their day before the loss of those last two wickets.

Looks like the greatest batsman since Don has been an epic fail. Atleast you could say the pitch was green in the 1st dig. What about the 2nd dig? :)))

Mathews the legend doing it again. I doubt PJ will do well in these conditions, this guy just suck keep getting selected probably because of his keeping ability. SL should have gone with Chandimal. I'm not saying that he would have hit a double century here but Chandi is suited for condition like this.

Sanga failed against us in the series in sri lanka. Safe to say that he is the bunny of our current team

You Indian trolls are so dumb :))

I doubt it will work, but 90% of the Lankan fans need to learn a thing or two about taking criticism well. You guys get too worked up and too disrespectful over small things.

I am yet to see an Indian fan making personal remarks over criticism of our team or players. 90% of you Lankans here on the other hand throw insults around without even a thought. Kiri aside, you are all too touchy and foul-mouthed.

leatherface58 NZcricketfan have you seen the ad for the Australian tri series? "Cricket giants collide" proceeds to show a clip of two Indian fieldsman colliding :)))

huh ?

There are only a handful of Lankan fans here. And that is a very broad generalization.

This match was dead and buried after the McCullum assault. Really missed the experience of Herath there. Would have made the difference there me thinks.

Can Matthews produce a Headingley 2.0 ?

tough without a good tail but u wouldn't back against him

Even if he does, we'll have to have a meltdown to not chase down less than 300 on a wicket which is still great to bat on.

has nz ever chased so much against us even in an odi? i cant remember that ever happening in a test. anyway i'd back sl to win if they do get there. the lead at best is likely to be about 150 anyway.

This is a belter, and your attack is pretty ordinary to say the least. I'll repeat, we'll have to have a meltdown to not chase down whatever SL put up from here.

yeah they might. it's just that there's no precedent and the last time this same team tried chasing a score against sl they got bowled out for 60 or something iirc.

Okay, I look forward to seeing your bowlers bowl us out for 60. Who cares that they weren't able to do it on a green wicket on day one :)

lol calm down. don't take it so personal mate

it's not often even an iconic batting side like sa or aus in their prime chased down 300 without struggling against any bowling attack. ur team is decent but it's no world beater so i have my doubts. that's not to say they can't do it though. jeez lol.

NZ wickets become pancakes from day 2 on wards. Against an attack like SL's, anything less than 300 should be chased down barring a meltdown by the batting side.

4th innings does strange things to a batting side so you never know, but in all likelihood the match will be over once Matthews is gone.

LOL. Delusional

Has your minnow nation ever produced a batsman with half skills that Sanga pocessesses ?

Btw, It has been eshtablished that your entire team is our perennial bunnies. In every ICC event, you lot run into us and get knocked outta the tournament :)))

Lemme give you a advice, first try to win against Bangladesh :yk Then talk. :uakmal

Sanga is quite average vs quality pace for a guy averaging 58 :kohli

This was the same during the 2011 Tour of England. He found it hard at first but found a way to score a 100 in the last innings of the tour.

Regarding this match, Lankans would be kicking themselves for the first inning failure. They have done well in the second innings, but it's unlikely that it will save them this match.

Martin Crowe is better than ever lankan ftb in history.

BTW what happened to sanga the whinga in this match ? Turned into Chris martin on a bowling friendly pitch :sanga

Sanga in matches featuring Boult and Southee has scored 28 runs in 5 innings. Boult has gotten him out thrice and once has taken his catch off Southee.

I suppose NZcricketfan has a point.

Too little too late. Hard to blame the players tho when your board has you playing one pointless ODI series after another in the SC and then organise just one two day warm-up game in NZ ahead of the Test series. NZ in their last tour to SL got to play the LO leg of the tour before the Tests so the least SLC could have done is to organise at least one four day warm-up. Pathetic stuff really.

Yup Boult definitely has his number. In both Tests and ODIs. The bowler he has struggled against most I would say.

As for NZ they are playing quality cricket these days. Got to be the number 3 Test side going around atm. Top notch bowling, captaincy, fielding and batting.

New Zealand v Sri Lanka | 1st Test | December 26-30 | Christchurch | Day 4

Can Sri Lanka bat out today and take lead around 200?

Mathews gone and effectively game over unless these last tailenders somehow add another 180 odd.

Are you claiming moral victories now mctroll

Moral victory ?? :))) There is no such a thing 'n I'm not an Indian to make that kinda claim, NZtrollfan. :))
I'm just happy that SL made NZ earn the win by lasting 138+ overs. That's all.

Since Taylor's run out early on in day one it has been all NZ pretty much. BMac whattay knock. Congrats NZ well played.

With all due respect to their perfomance in the first innings, NZ trundlers have bowled 145 overs so far :))) And still firing those mid-130 thunderbolts at our tailenders. :)

Lead 74 but they need at least another 75 more to give them even a remote chance.
