i think they decided to bowl first becasue they chased very well in the asia cup due to that performance may be they decided that!

but they forget that they are not playing in BD!

Pitches in BD are different then those in SL. In BD the pitches remain more or less same during the matches, but it's not so in SL.

Moreover they need to understand how to play according to opposition's strengths and weakness. NZ are known to be poor against Spin, and BD had a good chance to exploit that by bowling second, when the pitch would be conducive to spin bowling.

I told in the begining of the match that BD shall pay heavily for putting in NZ first here.

I picked it from a Bangladeshi Cricket Forum. I am not sure if it is real Ion Pont or someone just pretending to be him.

Without wishing to jinx anything, Bangladesh are perfectly capable of beating NZ today.

I am sure we will come back to this comment after the result to see if it was true, but the fact is BD can win this and really should win this.

The side is better placed than it was in 2010 when the Banglawash happened in the 4 matches of 50 overs. This time, the squad has more depth, more experience, and for me, the right Head Coach.

The great thing about T20 is that it is unpredictable and any side can win on any given day. The difference between teams is whether they can bowl more dot balls than the opposition and have big overs. Both of those take the game away.

The BPL taught the guys to play and gave them momentum. The Asia Cup carried that forward. If Pybus has got it right he will tap into that spirit and use it to have specific roles for each of the squad so there is no panic - just simple execution of their plans.

I am backing a BD win today for those reasons. NZ are rebuilding and not the side they once were. The conditions suit BD. The ball will grip (for spin) even though pitches have more grass on them.

Good rearguard action by BD, but I am afraid it's too big a task and too late tbh.
 
From a Pakistani point of view, don't want Bangladesh to get too many here, as it may come down to run rates later

Why? Just beat them and you're through. Surely you can't be scared of losing to Bangladesh?
 
Nz bowling doesn't look too dangerous, pak will just need to find a way of getting their batsmen out

Er, this is Pakistan we are talking about. Anything can and usually does happen. We don't like making things easy. Plus, you have to factor weather in at the moment. Just takes duck worth Lewis to come inand ruin a game
 
Most untalentated and mediocre team in history.

I'd throw a party the day they lose their test status.

Ireland would have done a millions better had they been given the opportunites Bangladesh have had. Pathetic.

They are the most sore of losers as well. We all know what happened after the Asia cup final.

No we are not. Irelands playin cricket sine the 18th century. Yes that is true.

What I do not get is why people suddenly expect us to win matches just because we won in Asia cup against good sides? These are both different formats. A few months ago we didnt have a rank even. We recently lost to Netherlands, Scotland and Trinidad.

And yet I say this is the most talented Bangladeshi team ever. We obviously are clueless when it comes to playing T20, and have a long way to go before we start winning matches. Please, a settled champion team like Pakistan chases 180+ one day and fails to score over 100 the next so cut some slack.

If this is the most talented team you have ever produced, I wonder which was the worst one? The one that rolled over for 50 against West Indies in the World Cup?

How many matches and series have Ireland been given against top quality teams? You were given the test status very prematurely (politics were involved. Let's not get into it here, sensitive issue) and it has been proven time and time again that you don't deserve it.

You have won only 3 tests since 2000.

I've nothing against minnows and I've never said Pakistan is a champion team, but I don't like the fact that Bangladesh are sore losers and they need to accept they are minnows.

The ASIA CUP still burning a hole in your heart eh?? That was one incident!! BCB took it upon themselves to do something very shameful!

If your going to use that one incident against BD forever then you must really hate the Pak team as you had/have many cheats and sell outs.

Oh but no you wont, as PAK is yooour team. So its not about ethics or morals with you is it??...its just BD bashing =)

Perhaps you aren't aware of the fact that I really really despise and hate Butt, Aamer and Asif. I wouldn't give a rat's ass if they burn themselves to death. However, that doesn't make me hate the Pakistan team.

I don't hate Bangladesh. I don't have any feelings because I've nothing to do with them. But I genuinly believe they don't deserve the test status. They've had their chances and haven't moved an inch since coming into the international area around 12/13 years ago.

I would have had a burning hole in my heart if someone whom I cared about backstabbed me :butt but Bangladesh just **** me off.
 
If you are saying that this team hasn't improved then you are not being neutral. Yes we still lose matches. Test matches? Lets not even talk about it. True that we were given the test status when we didnt deserve it, but tell me this -- when was the last time Bangladesh played a test series? And after how many months do they play their next?

If Ireland is being supported because they don't get enough number of matches against the top tier teams, even for us to improve in test matches atleast keep our test matches regularly [and dont care if they lose the next 100 test by an innings. If you have given them test status make it worthwhile, not by keeping test series that are even more rare than blue moons.]

In the past two years we defeated India, Sri Lanka, England, Ireland [3-0 in T20s in Ireland], West Indies -- are you telling me the Bangladesh team of 5 years ago did that regularly?

There will still be losses. This is a young team that comes off poor domestic structure and they have to learn on the job. We do not have a Hussey waiting to get his chance in our domestic structure. But we are improving. That is beyond doubt. In a way T20 losses doesnt hurt much because this is a format I really do not want Bangladeshi players to focus on. They had rather learn the longer format of the game.
