New Zealand vs Pakistan | 1st T20I | Wellington | Jan 22, 2018 | Pakistan Innings

I honestly didnt think Pakistan would be this awful. Its a bit disapointing tbh.

How do you guys reckon the upcoming English series would go? Aman? I get a feeling England would be too hot to handle in the ODIs and the Trans Tasman tri series.. Should be a cracker!

Ive been a bit out of the loop lately. Who are the standout guys in Pakistan thay need to be brought in? Must be some young batsman coming through?

I think the bowling attack is good enough.

Imagine if this pitch is tricky and we end up getting a close match.

Umar Akmal
Hussain Talat
Sohaib Maqsood
Saud Shakeel (odi/tests)
Saad Ali
Mukhtar Ahmed

Pakistanis are used to playing in slow motion(aka UAE), lot of trouble when ball is coming in realtime...Even Southee and De Grom is giving them trouble, not just today, through out

I am really excited to have them here. We should beat them in the tests but the ODIs will be close. We are usually a bogey team for them in ODIs but they have some proper attacking cricketers these days.

I think the Pakistani batsmen and management missed a trick this innings: they were not told prior to the game that they can use the offside as well.

For a cricket mad country of 200m, you sure lack depth.

That's because of recycling a group for an entire generation. It started from the guy now CS - 4 debuts in 4 years, with 2 U19 WC winning team cutting path.

The advantage Hasan has is he doesn't use timing. He uses muscle. That is handy on a pitch like this.

I don't mean to take a low blow here, but I think Bangladesh fared better last time we toured NZ, although we were abysmal against SA.

Yeah, I think 120 would be a great game.

Pakistan didn't assess conditions and looked to slog from the get go.

Chances are little - wicket is spicy, but PAK pacers most likely to bowl UAE length.

YEah, the team to beat esp now with Stokes joining. Good luck!

Pitches are atrocious, you have trundlers like Hammad Azam with stats like Mcgrath. The batsman are not able to play their shots and are unable to construct long innings so you see a lot of 50s and then out. Pak will never be a consistent side until their domestic pitches improve and they also need to get out of UAE, its destroying their game...

What is the format of the match you are following right now?
This is for the casuals, they attend local games but they're sure as hell not going to wake up in the morning to watch games.

Ok... that doesn't mean the WC is not important. Maybe it'll become important when you manage to win one. Doesn't seem likely though.

By the way, I see 7 bowlers today - deliberate ploy to keep Ahmed, MoHa out? This actually suggests that Arthur has decided that enough is enough - now team should pay for the sake of a change.

Dude, you know cricket isn't a big sport here. Now imagine the T20 WC... no one even knows it's going on..

People grossly overestimate the popularity of cricket outside the subcontinent.

Doesn't mean its not important. Kiwi's interest does not define what is important or not.

yup agreed, they did pretty well in that era (apart from the world cup) however Inzimam did always play his favourites, shocking how he ignored those two winning world cup under 19 teams- it did set Pak back in the long run

If no one cares about it in the country, how is it important?

What's there in winning a trophy most don't care about?

Babar in the crease for long time but he didn't tried to hit one big shot until now...iam very frustrated with him..

You are saying the WC does not matter because puny New Zealand does not care about it?

Say we do manage to win one, how long can we live off it? Decades? Forvever?

Okay. And what is your point?

I believe that subcontinental teams like Lanka, Bangladesh and Pakistan are really poor travellers. Worse than non-SC teams when they tour us.

I'd expected Pakistan to perform better but its not been the case

I hadn't even born when Pakistan won the WC and yet PPers remind me of it every second day :))

Well we won one in 2009 and then another tournament in 2017. Maybe you were old enough for both of those.

We just came off a long break.

A short break would suffice.

When you are in the habit of losing you become demotivated and momentum is against you, its highly unlikely you will do much in the games to come. Say for example, if Pakistan had won the 2nd/3rd ODI they would have done better in the later matches.

Right now everyone is in a negative mindset. From coach to captain.

When it come to technique i find bangladeshi bats more assured and compact in these conditions.

Like I said, I don't care that you won the T20 WC. That tournament seems to be played every second year, it feels like there's been more T20 champions than WC champions.

But never New Zealand :)))

Foot work isn't good - T20 generation, groomed to hit through the line, But, timing, placement and array of shots are much better; and plays spin as good as any other contemporary line up.

Cnt blame malik & Hafeez today theyr replacements r equally as mediocre as them!!

But never New Zealand :)))

Newzealand won the champions trophy in 2000...16 years before Pak did :))

Yeah before your comeback of they beat India too...sure India 2 Champions trophies and 2 finals.

BTW Tuffey or whoever played in that game
Is surely not a National hero in Newzealand :)))

Does azam have any scoring shots.. anything that will get him more than a single perhaps..
