Must-win for Pakistan, but it looks tough as all the momentum is with New Zealand at the moment.

I'd make two changes. Fakhar and Yamin in for Azhar and Rumman.
Fakhar
Imam
Babar
Hafeez
Malik
Shadab
Sarfraz*+
Yamin
Faheem
Hasan
M. Amir
Another option is replacing Imam with Haris and opening with Babar/Hafeez; But imo that would be a bit unfair on the youngster and personally don't see it happening.
Malik should bat below aamir, thoughI'd make two changes. Fakhar and Yamin in for Azhar and Rumman.

Ideally you’d want Rumman to get ‘injured’, thus allowing us to induct an actual third pacer and not some dibbly dobbler pretending to be a cricketer.
Also need to chuck out Azhar and induct Haris, beyond me why he’s still on the bench. I do feel that the management is still on cloud nine after the CT, and they believe that this is a lineup that can compete against the best. Maybe this is the wake up call they needed, then again this is the PCB we’re not talking about, they’ve instilled this notion that if the team is performing badly it is due to the lack of experience. Hence, after this series I won’t be suprised one bit if a dud like Kami made a comeback, again...
Told you that both our quality seniors would get out to spinners
Azhar needs to be benched ASAP
just kills the game before it even begins
While I agree with this, but I can’t see on this tour why he should go before Malik or even hafeez
Also I do feel Hasan is lacking a bit of rhythm, playing in useless tournaments like the BPL and T10 are taking the toll on his body. It is beyond me why the PCB gave Hasan an NOC to participate in the HK Blitz, that too straight after a tour consisting of 5 ODI’s and 3 T20’s.
Hafeez and Malik cannot play well when (a) the heat is on and (b) when facing high quality bowling. I know you think hafeez acauited himself today but his entire career is littered with useless innings like where he throws it away rather than seeing the team throughBoth malik and hafeez can actually play modern cricket. ( Most time they dont actually do it sadly but they have the range and the shots. They can take spinners on, drive pacers and run quick singles)
Azhar is stagnant and archaic. Simply does not posses the game modern cricket demands

Oh bhai, Malik and Hafeez have been showing intent for 15 years. There’s no upside. Fakhar zaman has down more in 15 matches than these clowns will do in a lifetimeI agree Hafeez kind of threw it away at a crucial point today but there was intent. Right from the start, there was a purpose to what he was doing. Same with Malik. Azhar shows no intent to even score. His power game is non existant.
Secondly, Malik has performed a lot when the heat is on and Hafeez has played good knocks against Quality attacks in difficult conditions ( look up his innings against India ( 2013 series) in 2nd t20) Sublime stroke play.
While not ideal, Hafeez and Malik justify their place way better than Azhar
Azhar Mehmood or Mickey Arthur need to intervene and prevent this from going ahead.totally agree. He needs to be looked after better
Hes Gonna play PSL too. If he gets injured, we lose any zip that we have in our attack

How is it unfair on Hafeez to group him with Azhar? He averages 32 FGS, only ever turns up when his position in the team is in doubt. It is all relative though. I hope we get Fakhar like young replacements for Hafeez and Malik but for the time being the worst player we have is Azhar Ali who should not be even playing limited overs cricket
My issue is that we cannot group all three together. Azhar hasnt even tried and it is unfair to group people like Hafeez with him

Malik to be thrown out of the team BEFORE Azhar in ODIs??? Lol. That has to be the best joke of the last 2 years.
The fact of the matter is Shoaib, Azhar, Haris and Rumman all need to go. Get in the likes of Sahibzada, Talat, Ahmed Bashir etc. etc.I meant based on today's performance . Not overall. Hafeez overall has had a mediocre career
Don’t know how I got Haris in there, meant Hafeez. The fact of the matter is Shoaib, Azhar, Haris and Rumman all need to go. Get in the likes of Sahibzada, Talat, Ahmed Bashir etc. etc.
When do we get to know if he will be fit or not?If Fakhar Zaman is fit, he obviously has to come back in for Imam.
Raees looks out of rhythm, maybe's he's not 100% fit but he seems to be a liability atm. I say take him out of the firing line and give Aamer Yamin a go.
Nah, rain saved us in both games.5-0 is on the cards, and richly deserved as well. It is too easy for NZ.
Which non-existent ropes are those? New Zealand has smashed us in both games. No excuses.Nah, rain saved us in both games.
Pakistan had us on the ropes on both occassions..

That looks like a much stronger line up, I can't see Pakistan being 3 down for nothing with it. This team should be able to score 280+ quite easily.Need to play a stronger batting line up. Fahim needs to become our third pacer he doesnt hold down a batting slot alone (outperformed by shadab too) and yet not awful with the ball (he’s outbowled Raees.
Id play
1. Fakhar
2. Imam
3. Babar
4. Haris
5. Malik
6. Sarfraz
7. Yamin
8. Shadab
9. Fakhar
10. Amir
11. Hasan
Might even go for a proper bat over Yamin but we dont really have any in the squad. An umar akmal or sohaib maqsood in form would probably suit that 7th position more but theyre not in contention/form atm.
I'd say this is pretty much a full strength XI.Are you guys experimenting? Why is Milne and Henry not playing considering Pakistani batsmen struggle against pace. It's surprising to see Pakistani batting failing despite having to face two spinners and rookie bowler on these flat pitches.
Until they make hard decisions they will continue to lose.
They need to drop Azhar, Malik, and hafeez.
What will probably happen is that fakhar will come back, Malik will be benched and Harris will get a run. Pakistan will still lose

Is it really surprising to see this Pakistani batting fail? Did you really expect a team filled with guys who have averages in the 30s with SRs of 74 to score 300+ anywhere outside the UAE?
That’s not happening, doesn’t matter how weak the bowling is
I’m surprised NZ isn’t experimenting more. They should have some of their U-19 players playing here
Ohh common... that u19 comment is really a poor joke.
Why?
When is the last time you saw Azhar, Hafeez, Malik score consistently against a top ODI bowling attack? Especially outside Asia
And dont even mention the CT. Yeah Azhar had an average of 45, but he also had a SR of 74. If not for Fakhar, Pakistan would still be struggling with scores like 240
I genuinely think if NZ played 1 or 2 of their U19 fast bowler in this series, some of our more experienced players would have really struggled.
No joke here, friend
They thrashed NZ XI team few days ago which contained best performers of this domestic season.
U19 guys are kids, who will be thrashed to every nook and corner of ground and will make them depressed and may even result in their career getting finished even b4 starting.
There is a huge gulf bw domestic and international forget about U19 players.
Pakistan will be definitely be a lot better with Fakhar in the top order.
Hopefully he's back for the next game.
Hasan Ali has also impressed, the series is still very much alive IMO.

To be honest I didn't expect us to Do well in this series, I was pretty inclined to the feeling that Pakistan team will be found wanting especially in the batting and the type of batting we have is definently not what modern batting is about .
New Zealand have some really good players and it was always gonna be a tough call playing them on their patch
Momentum doesn't matter. We have too much dead weight and The Revolutionary has selected equally crap replacements and none for pacers at all. Freaking genius.

They either genuinely believe that or are whinding me up on purpose.
In any case, I've made sure to rub it in![]()

The major problem with most of our batsmen in this current line up is that they dominate spinners and kind of see off the pacers as their skills against fast bowling is pretty limited, the pull shot, the cut and drives are missing so they just tuk tuk. This is why when they see a spinner they attack him to boost their strike rate. Until we don't get good batsmen against pace we will keep seeing this sorry scorecard.

Sarfaraz still has time an influence to turn this around.
bat at 4
drop malik and azhar and confine hafeez to 6 and kick him out if he fails.
open with fakhar and take a punt on ashraf as opener. imam is rubbish
