Newcomers to Lahore will soon face some unique challenges. For example, when they ask someone for directions, they might be told:

"Go straight from here onto Mian Sharif Road, then get onto the Maryam Nawaz Flyover. After you get off, about two kilometers ahead, enter the Kulsoom Nawaz Underpass. Take a right onto Hamza Shehbaz Road. Go half a kilometer past the Maryam Nawaz Clinic, then take the road opposite Mian Nawaz Sharif Nihari place. Cross two intersections and you’ll reach the third one—Mian Shehbaz Sharif Chowk. Take a right from there, loop around the Maryam Nawaz Sports Complex, pass by Mian Nawaz Sharif Bong & Siri Paye shop, and stop at the Salman Shehbaz Building. Go to the Mian Nawaz Sharif Floor, and once you reach the Maryam Nawaz Hall, ask someone for further directions.

I spent 4 years of my life lahore. I used Google Maps instead of asking any lahori for the address.. LOL

I was once sent 6km away from my actual place.. never took the risk again..

But this name change is very Cringy stuff.. Why would change the name from Jinnah to maryam or shahbaz... pathetic

The roads are always named after someone. Central Delhi has iconic road names even after some Mughals to this date much to the resentment of some hindutvawaadis but it no ones an iconic and historic feel to the city for sure.

This sort of crap might have worked back in the day but when people have seen the destruction and inhumanity with their own eyes, it will take more than renaming. As the saying goes you cant Polish a turd
