No matter what the fans say, Pakistan cricket will not be changing or moving forward

As fans, it's easy to sit on our couches and make our fantasy teams, pick X player and drop Y player.

However, the reality is vastly different. Those in charge of the cricket in the country, do not think like that.

It starts with the chairman. His vision does not match what the modern cricket is about. He's Conservative, and not someone even close to who can take drastic measures to ensure cricket is on the modern path.

Then comes the chief selector and the coach. Our selector, Inzi bhai, is someone who loves to maintain the status quo. Heck, he has recalled Umar Gul, Hafeez, Malik, Asad Shafiq in his stint.

So far, from what we've seen of Inzi, he wants to give endless chances to TTFs, can only talk big in press conferences and not take any action that can move Pakistan cricket towards the modern era. He doesn't have it in him to drop your core players Malik, Hafeez, Rizwan, Shafiq, Azhar.

Then comes Mickey Arthur. A coach with big and strong words in every press conference. No substance, apparently, so far, as we've only seen old style TTFs in the side getting recalled.

Even the domestic coaches strongly discourage and criticize players who want to express themselves, play shots and not become "mature" technique batsmen.


Yes, so make all fantasy XIs you want.

Things will not change. Azhar, Malik, Hafeez, Shafiq, Wahab Riaz (LOIs) & Rizwan will continue to be a part of the team. If not all of them, at least some of them.

I know many will be having high hopes for the West Indies tour, but I'd advise to not have any high expectations.

It's likely that "we'll move forward" by bringing back Ahmed Shehzad - the dot ball, ugly cross-batted hoicks, static feet king.

Yeah. But honestly, I've started watching matches with no expectations, so I just enjoy the cricket without expecting we'd win.

Just like how a minnow team's fan would watch cricket.

For WI tour, the mentality of the boad/Inzi/Arthur would be: Let's go with the seniors, win the series and avoid the qualifiers. Same for CT.

Nothing is changing.

Every new coach (foreign or otherwise) comes with the idea for new blood in the team but some how gets side-tracked along the way in to selecting Malik, Hafeez, and I guess shafiq as well.
The team really needs a break from the past in odis. Need to get let the older guys go to pasture and bring in the new young players. It's the mentality that needs to change. I don't think that even sarfaraz should be captain.

Players don't select themselves -- these guys do!

Absolutely agree. We're not moving forward with including Sarfraz, let alone making him the captain!

Don't know what you're so upset about brother. Everybody gets smashed in Australia. Team needs to be built around Sharjeel/Babar/Aamir/Imad etc. Much better team than the one that got whitewashed by BD.

Pakistan cricket is almost 10 years behind the rest of the world. While the world were seeing players like De villers,de kock,Faf,Rohit,Warner,Maxwell....we were happy with Misbah's moral victory innings. The approach, the mindset we have in the team,in the PCB and in the most fans will take years to get rid of. so in a sense I agree with you. I still see some fans asking for Fawad Alam inclusion by dropping Umar Akmal.

I blame Ijaz butt for putting Pakistan in the mess we are today. Obiviously the current chairman and president with dual jobs have hardly any clue about todays cricket.

did you read our chairman and PCB official saying they have no problem with Misbah continuing? If that's their mindset what hope you could possibly have? The guy should have been sacked asap if guys in PCB had any brains.

Well i was talking about the ODI team. The test team is in a shambles apart from Azhar. The 4 main bowlers are being overworked and Misbah is finished as a cricketer and YK nearing the end. However, i think Misbah will call it quits. Pakistan will lose test series in the Caribbean even if Misbah continues.

Don't mix up the formats. Misbah is a Test legend, and can play till WI tour. After that, must go at any cost.

I think we need to redefine the criteria of "Test legend", Misbah has a pretty middling test career as a batsman. His numbers aren't bad, but they aren't spectacular either.
