Mustafizur Rahman the biggest surprise for me.

Rashid Khan would have been a steal for any team too.

mustafizur was not selected rightly soo. last time around his board did drama of him getting exposed so cant allow him to play.

why should teams take a stupid risk then and lose out on other players. he did not get selected due to his boards poor attitude.

rashid khan, needs alot of improvement. his success are against lower tier teams, plus i havent been impressed by him that much.

That is the weirdest logic I have seen.

He was supposed to go to the UAE but he sustained a injury during a series against Zimbabwe. He not only missed PSL but also missed a couple of T20Is for BD. Board was cautious about his fitness, and not about being figured out. He is a great asset, but he doesn't know how to take care of himself so board had its reason.
 
Zia-ul-Haq and Ehsan Adil from the top of my head.

I'll have to see the draft list but I feel that a lot of good domestic players have missed out.

In terms of local players I'm disappointed players like Hammad Azam, Ehsan Adil, Zia ul Haq, Kamran Ghulam, Saud Shakeel, Zeeshan Malik, Ahsan Ali and Saad Ali were ignored.

Would've liked to see Adil Rashid and Moeen picked. Surprised again no one went for Jesse Ryder.
 
Less known talented players always miss out. The reason we need more teams. It will also allow some good overseas players to participate.

Really surprised to see Hammad's omission. Also Mukhtar, Awais and Nauman are big hitters of the ball. Even Nasir has done well in the local T20 league.

These were one of the better pacers last year. Especially Ehsan. PSL is really for the big names in Pakistan.
 
Its evident today that PSL needs more teams. We can easily accomodate more talent right across the league. Having a 6th team would have resulted in more local players getting selected. The biggest disappointment for me is Usman Qadir being selected, this selection wreaks of favoritism to Mr Qadir.

Perhaps, but to add more teams would de-value the league from a financial point of view. I agree with the PCB when they say that by the time we add a sixth team in 2018, they will be able to sell it for a huge profit.
 
how come south African players are not participating like villers, de kock and others?

Players like Pollard , Bhatti , Zulfiqar Babar, Saad nasim , Khurram ,Umar amin,Bhatti , Azhar Ali, Saeed Ajmal, Brad haddin, imran khan Jr. are the picks that are disappointing to me
 
I can't believe Lahore let go of Ehsan.

He was pretty decent and did a good job.

I do agree with the viability aspect, but given the amount of talent we have(Pakistani and foreign) at our disposal, another team would make things very interesting.
 
There are quite few players who have missed out which is a shame. But we have a lot of 30+ year old players which is really good because they can play for us for the next 10 to 15 years. Such as ajmal, misbah, Irfan, sami, gul, and many many more. What's the point of this kind of a tournament. A lot of emerging talent misses out in order to accommodate ttf's.

so now playing a 30+ year in domestic is also bad?

name one 20 year old who did play 10-15 years for paksitan after making his debut in the early 20s or teens

How can anyone not pick Adil Rashid, Moeen Ali or Jason Roy? Clear reason why more teams are needed.

Well a lot of these ttf were complete failures in international cricket which is a fact and a lot of them don't even deserve to be selected based on performances. If you want your team to improve you need to get rid of a lot of garbage and need to give chances to youngsters. I don't understand why someone like misbah plays this tournament other then for money off course. People hate younis a lot and for right reasons too, but at least he doesn't play this tournament and hence another player is selected and a lot of youngsters credit him too.

Someone like kamran ghulam got like 2 games and batted at at 7 or 8 and was hardly given a bowl but was discarded which is really unfair. I know you are a big misbah fan but you don't need to defend what he does wrong. He just loves oldies which is never gonna help our cricket.

Some players are good enough to represent our A team such as fahim ashraf, saud shakeel, Saad Ali and many more but are not good enough to play PSL which is shamefull.

Some many talented and deserving players missed out this tournament and a lot of players are selected because of friendship and other reasons which we all know. Eg usman qadir.

BCB had a valid reason for not allowing him (solely due to his injuries). Drama is what Ijaz Butt did in 2009 when he didn't allow Pakistani cricketers to participate in IPL which was held in South Africa.

Haha, you make it sound as if Younis not playing the PSL was so as to give youngsters a go. He didn't play last time because no one picked him in the draft. Something which he wasn't too pleased about. His ego would have loved playing in the PSL.

Agree with your comments about Misbah, he has his favorites (eg Ajmal and the consistently mediocre Asif Ali) and firmly believes in "old is gold" :)
 
And here's me thinking Javed Afridi is going to pick Sadaf Hussain. Perhaps not....
 
I think, this years' draft was much planned, strategic & well thought out by every team. It's just 80 players in 5 teams, of which 5 foreigners & 2 emerging talents; hence its obvious that there will be many close misses. Overall, I think there is only one odd selection - Abdul Qadir has managed to get his worthless son in Lahore team. I do follow PAK domestics, but can't recall what he has done to get a call in Lahore team.

One interesting observation is that, both PCB's Cuptans - Afridi & Azhar were sacked (ok, they are covering it with sweet words), may be PSL Franchaise are run by business houses, who bothers performance more than yes man or public image.

Ideally, by 2020, PSL should be in PAK with 8 teams (Faisalabad, Kashmir (Gilgit) & may be Gawadar - it will be fantastic to grow cricket in one of the fastest growing township in PAK) - then we'll see more local players playing. Also, there will be more matches (14 in preliminary rounds) which will allow more game time for fringe players.

I am amazed that the poor guy keeps giving performance after performance and yet cant find place in pakistan A team, PAKISTAN XI, PSL or best players chosen for the 5 regional team competetion.I mean what does this guy needed to do? How can we as fan help him or anyone who can see this injustice help this guyTO HELP HIM reach somewhere because this is JUST not FAIR!
 
if even the private sector does not want you. It speaks for itsself.
 
Why in the world were Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid not picked?
 
I really feel sad for sadaf hussain. Wonder why he is no given such importance that he deserve

This is the thing i hate about Misbah, he prefers all oldies in his team likes of Imran khalid, saeed ajmal, haddin, sami, irfan.
I really hope this time around Islamabad looses badly and next year comes with younger exciting team.

I'd like to think of this from another angle . . How is it that the entire cricketing fraternity of Pakistan is not interested in him?! PSL franchises are not PCB selections . . How is it that all the 5 franchises also decided to not take him?

There was a year when Pakistani players were included in the IPL auction list and none of the franchisees bought a single player even though there was no official ban on them.. did that mean that Pakistani players weren't good enough?.. we were one of the top teams back then in t20!! So board can influence decisions. Or else why would javed afridi not select him when he had publicly made a point to consider him for 2017 season.
 
Muhammad Asif was never going to get picked.. PCB don't like him..even if he gets 100 wickets this season he won't get a call up for the national team.

I don't agree with that analogy . . The fact that Pakistanis aren't considered in IPL is neither a hidden fact nor a mystery . .

I don't know much about Sadaf Hussain . . All I am saying is that I keep hearing about him . . but somehow, he keeps getting ignored everywhere! If PCB indeed had such a prejudice against him, he wouldn't even be in the draws!

The fact that he was there and no team owners (independent) or coaches (foreign) picked him says a lot to me!
 
And for some unknown reason Sadaf hussain will never be picked for any of the Pakistan team at any level .. Heck no team picks him in the national t20 cup.

Don't think they picked him that regularly. Don't know if this was down to fitness or what but Mohammad Abbas played more or less every game.

Poor guys need all the help they can get at the moment.
