The PDM government has come down to using violence against it's own citizens. All to clinch on to their power.

Somebody should make a website that can auto-generate Imran Khan tweets - he uses the same words, cast and storylines again and again.

We all know that any form of political protest is beyond Pakistan's awaam anyway. So not sure what he is expecting and from whom?

Right person in the wrong country.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan along with other party leaders were booked in a case on Thursday following yesterday's clashes at the former ruling party's rally, which claimed the life of one PTI worker.

The first information report (FIR) - a copy of which is available with the Express Tribune - was registered at the Race Course police station under the anti-terrorism act (ATA), murder, attempt to murder and other offenses.

PTI leaders, including Fawad Chaudhry, Farukh Habib, Hassan Niazi and others, were accused of "threatening national security agencies" and "destroying the government and its institutions brick by brick".

Police forms committee

The Punjab IG issued orders to form a two-member committee consisting of DIG Elite Police Force Sadiq Ali and SSP IAB Lahore Imran Kishwar to conduct an inquiry into Wednesday's police clashes with PTI workers outside Zaman Park.

The order was issued to "ascertain facts, ensure transparency and find out the reason for loss of life and property" during the incident.

The Punjab IG ordered a fact-finding inquiry to determine the circumstances and situation that led to a gathering of political workers, including the legal status of the gathering.

Further, the committee will investigate what circumstances led to the clashes between the police and PTI workers, including the timings of the start and end of the clashes

The IG asked for the total number of protesters and police officers injured and details of the death of PTI worker Bilal Ali.

The inquiry team will gather statements from witnesses as well as CCTV footage and video clips of the incident. A report will be submitted to the Punjab IG within three days.

The incident

A day earlier, the Lahore police had used force to break up a PTI rally, killing one supporter while dozens others were injured.

The PTI said that the deceased, identified as Ali Bilal alias Zil-e-Shah, died of police torture. The police said two deputy superintendents of police (DSPs), one station house officer (SHO) and eight constables were injured while maintaining the law and order.

The PTI had announced a rally from Zaman Park to Data Darbar to mark the launch of its election campaign. Initially, it was stated that Imran would lead the rally. However, the district administration imposed a ban on public gatherings.

The violence began after police moved to the Zaman Park area, where the PTI chief's residence is located, to prevent the party workers from advancing toward Mall Road.

The police presence in the area started increasing as they moved to block all the points leading to Zaman Park from all sides. It was followed by the deployment of Anti-Riot Force (ARF), prison vans and water cannons.

On the other hand, the PTI workers, carrying clubs and sticks, moved to resist the police advance. Police then resorted to heavy tear gas shelling and baton charge and used water cannons to disperse them.

Footage of the clashes, shared on social media by both sides, showed police resorting to using force against the PTI workers. The police also rounded up a large number of protestors, while several vehicles on both sides were damaged.

Lahore Police Spokesperson Syed Mubashir Hassan said that “at least 11 policemen, including two DSPs and one SHO, were injured in PTI activists’ torture”. He added two policemen were severely injured and moved to the General Hospital in critical condition.

Same here, I never believed that our Army could be so corrupt and will kill people to stay in power. These Generals need to be hanged along with around 15000 of their appointees. Otherwise the elite capture won't go for decades.

Some of the scenes coming out Pakistan are truly disturbing. The police and army seem to be openly beating , murdering people even with cameras pointing at them.

Its clear the US and its partners are behind the crooks in charge and have given them the green light to do what it takes to stop Imran Khan being Prime Minister again.

The Pakistan army has become a disgrace, helping enemies to destroy the nation.

May the family of this poor lad gain some peace and may the Almighty bless the martyr with the highest form of paradise.

Just listened to Dr. Shireen Mazari. I feel for this lady, she believes in the UN human rights organisations and stated she has written many letters etc.

The sooner Pakistanis realise UN is a tool of the west now and so are their organisations. It makes no sense to appeal to the same people who are behind the scenes causing chaos.

Russia, China, BRICS, Pakistan, Arabs and all Muslim nations should resign from the UN and set up their own organisation.

The United Nations has demanded a probe into the alleged killing of a Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) worker in Lahore in police torture.

Farhan Haq, the vice spokesperson for UN Chief Antonio Guetress in his statement said the matter of the killing of a PTI worker in alleged police torture should be investigated.

Farhan Haq in the statement, emphasized that people have the right to peaceful protest, and those who committed violence against demonstrators should be held accountable.

Secretary General Antonio Guterres also appealed for calm and restraint to ease tensions.

He was last seen with his sons killers, punjab police and pmlns ''politician'' Rana Mashood who are threatening him to drop his attempts to register an FIR for his sons murder, to say that he forgives the killers and to lie that PTI killed his son.

RIP to his son, I hope he will get justice and these pmln pigs and traitor generals will face Allahs justice for destroying Pakistan.

Punjab caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi on Saturday called out the PTI leadership for blaming for the murder of a party worker, saying he will not bow down to the pressure through “curses and tweets”.

A PTI worker named Ali Bilal died while several others were seriously injured and many picked up on March 8 as the caretaker Punjab government used force to block a rally called to launch the party’s campaign for the April 30 elections to the provincial assembly.

On Friday, police claimed to have arrested two suspects, identified as Umar and Jehanzeb, who claimed that Bilal sustained multiple injuries after he was involved in an accident with their car. Dawn quoted sources as saying that the two claimed the accident occurred in Fortress Stadium, where Bilal was present along with five other friends, probably PTI workers.

The claims of torture have been corroborated by Bilal’s postmortem report, issued by the Mayo Hospital. It said the victim was subjected to “massive blunt trauma”, while a fracture to his skull and subsequent bleeding has been cited as the cause of death. The report also noted damage to his liver, spleen and testes, which led to profuse bleeding.

At a press conference in Lahore today, the caretaker chief minister denied the involvement of his administration in the incident.

“We are not barring you from politics but you should refrain from levelling baseless allegations on us,” he told a press briefing in Lahore.

Flanked by Punjab Inspector General Dr Usman Anwar, Naqvi said he would have answered the allegations “in a different manner” had he not been on the coveted position. “It is my responsibility to bear such attacks with restraint but filing a FIR of murder charges is too much.”

“I will not surrender. I will prefer going home but will not give in,” the CM told journalists.

The chief minister said it was a blind case and commended Punjab police for their efforts in tracing the suspects.

Commenting on an audio circulating on social media in connection to the incident, Naqvi said the clip did not even need a verification as the veracity of the audio was clearly questionable.

He also took exception to the PTI for its decision to take out a rally on a day when other public gatherings related to Aurat March and other marches taking place in the Punjab capita,.

Punjab Inspector General Dr Usman Anwar on Saturday rejected allegations levelled by the PTI blaming the provincial administration for the alleged custodial killing of a party worker, insisting the incident was purely an “accident case” which, he said, was “unfortunately misinterpreted” publicly.

A PTI worker, Ali Bilal, also known as Zille Shah, died, several others were injured and many picked up on March 8 as the caretaker Punjab government used force to block a rally called to launch the party’s campaign for the April 30 elections in the province.

On Friday, police claimed to have arrested two suspects, identified as Umar and Jehanzeb, who claimed that Bilal sustained multiple injuries after he was involved in an accident with their car. It said the victim was subjected to “massive blunt trauma”, while a fracture to his skull and subsequent bleeding has been cited as the cause of death. The report also noted damage to his liver, spleen and testes, which led to profuse bleeding.

In a press conference in Lahore today, the senior cop along with caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi denied the involvement of provincial administration in the incident.

“The evidence clearly indicate that this is an accident case. No accused in this case tried to kill and blame it on the police,” the IG said.

He said the suspects “clearly looked tense” as seen in CCTV footage.

“He also tried to save the victim at one point and then transports him to the hospital. Then the manner in which the incident was misinterpreted was quite unfortunate,” the senior cop explained.

The caretaker CM also called out the PTI for accusing police and the administration for being hand in glove in the incident.

“We are not barring you from politics but you should refrain from levelling baseless allegations on us,” he told journalists.

Naqvi said he would have answered the allegations “in a different manner” had he not been on the coveted position. “It is my responsibility to bear such attacks with restraint but threatening to file a first information report with murder charges totally on the basis of assumptions is too much.”

“I will not surrender. I will prefer going home but will not give in,” the CM told journalists.

He also categorically denied that the police were given any directions to torture workers of a particular party.

Naqvi said the IG will himself visit the victim’s father, adding the Punjab government will also extend financial assistance to the heirs which it usually does.

“They did a great injustice to me and the police administration. This should not have happened,” the provincial chief executive said.

He noted that it was a blind case and commended Punjab police for their efforts in tracing the suspects.

Commenting on an audio circulating on social media in connection to the incident, Naqvi said the clip did not even need a verification as the veracity of the audio was clearly questionable.

He also took exception to the PTI for its decision to take out a rally on a day when other public gatherings related to Aurat March and other marches taking place in the Punjab capital.

Former prime minister Imran Khan on Saturday accused the Punjab caretaker government of covering up PTI worker Ali Bilal’s death, and urged the Lahore High Court to constitute a judicial commission to probe the matter.

Bilal, also known as Zillay Shah, died, several others were injured and many picked up on March 8 as the caretaker Punjab government used force to block a rally called to launch the party’s campaign for the April 30 elections in the province.

Punjab Inspector General Dr Usman Anwar earlier today rejected allegations levelled by the PTI blaming the provincial administration for the alleged custodial killing of Bilal, insisting the incident was purely a road “accident case” which, he said, was “unfortunately misinterpreted” publicly.

In his first televised address after the LHC revoked the ban on the PTI chairman’s speeches, Imran hit back hard on the provincial authorities, terming the Punjab police as “savages”, saying that he could not believe “what they did to a special person (Bilal)”.

“I’m hurt over his death,” Imran said hours after the police chief held a press conference alongside the caretaker chief minister. “No one had ever spoken ill of him but the way he was tortured in custody is shameful”.

The ex-premier said there were at least 60 marks on Bilal’s body, which he said was indication that torture was inflicted on him.

Later in his speech, Imran announced that he will lead an election campaign rally in Lahore on Sunday (tomorrow) at 2 pm, and urged his supporters and workers to participate in face of the police brutality purportedly committed against the party.

‘Defiant’ Imran refuses to back off, calls rally in Lahore today

LAHORE: As he urged the Election Commission of Pakistan to take action against interim chief minister Mohsin Naqvi and the Punjab police bigwigs for a crackdown on the March 8 election rally, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in an apparent act of defiance has decided to take out another rally in Lahore on Sunday (today).

In light of the rally, the district administration has imposed Section 144 in the Punjab capital. The decision came after the deputy commissioner warned the former ruling party that the administration would not have any other option but to impose Section 144 if it did not pay heed to its concerns in the wake of a PSL match in the city. But the PTI claimed it has changed the route of the rally to not disrupt the match.

Lamenting over the “custodial torture” allegedly resulting in the death of a PTI worker, the former prime minister requested the Lahore High Court chief justice to constitute a judicial commission to ascertain the facts leading to Ali Bilal’s death. “We have no hope for justice from these savages in power,” Mr Khan said in his televised address on Saturday.

“I have decided that I will fight against the corrupt system and looters of national wealth till the last drop of my blood,” he announced and urged the masses to stand beside him. Otherwise, he claimed that the corrupt rulers would take the country to a disaster where the younger generation would have no future.

Imran reschedules rally to steer clear of ‘trap’

• Ex-PM says govt wants to ‘provoke clashes’ for sake of FIRs as PTI stages power show today
• Govt allows rally, bars speeches against ‘constitutional offices’

LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday postponed the election rally until Monday (today) after the party failed to get relief either from the Election Commission or the Lahore High Court against caretaker Punjab government’s order of imposing Section 144 in the provincial capital.

The interim Punjab government had imposed Section 144 late in the night in the wake of a PSL match in the Qaddafi Stadium and a marathon race in the city.

Initially, the PTI was determined to hold the rally but the former premier stopped the party leaders and workers, telling them not to be trapped in the legal ploy.

“The Punjab chief minister and police want to provoke clashes to file more sham FIRs against PTI leaders and workers and to use [it] as a pretext for postponing elections,” the PTI chairman tweeted less than an hour after the scheduled time of the rally from his residence to the Data Darbar — from a different route that did not disrupt PSL match or marathon race route.

This is some Iraqi guy who tweets on behalf of Saudis

Anyone who is fluent in Arabic will understand the responses from mostly Saudis and some other Arabs such as Egyptians

They all hate Imran Khan, and are saying he deserves his arrest etc

Many comments call him Shia as well (false as he is Sunni afaik)

What it could mean: That the current campaign to remove and malign IK is likely funded by the Saudis

The current Saudi/Emirati leaders hated Mahathir as well and funded his opponents

And same for IK

Apparently IK acted arrogant in front of the King. Yet when Trump openly insulted the Saudi King in his rallies Saudis kept quiet on twitter.

Most Pakistanis, including IK supporters dont understand the current Saudi mentality. They look on Pakistan, Egypt, Bangladesh, Indonesia as vassal states which should suck up to their every decision
Saudis were not like this during time of King Fahd or Faisal or even King Abdullah

That's because the US President is their big boss. The Pakistani Prime Minister - in their own words - is a mere beggar (who can't be a chooser).

In its first assessment of the human rights situation in Pakistan under the incumbent government, the US State Department notes the human rights situation in the country remains a cause of concern.

Released on Monday, the annual State Department report refers to several events that occurred in 2022, including former premier Imran Khan’s Azadi March to protest his removal from office.

The report also refers to PTI chairman’s claim that his march to Islamabad was impeded due to barriers imposed by the federal government, and that participants were subjected to tear gas and arrests. “Two participants reportedly died, and thousands were arrested by security forces.”

The document, however, also points out, “There were no reports of restrictions on political parties participating in elections, except for those prohibited due to terrorist affiliations” in 2022.

Punjab is not a part of the world that has seen any kind of revolution in the region's entire history. Unlike Iran (1979) or Sri Lanka (2022) - countries in Pakistan's immediate neighbourhood, Pakistanis don't seem to decide "enough is enough" and overthrow the folks that have led them to this quagmire.

The Islamabad Police on Wednesday said they have arrested a total of 316 PTI supporters to date for allegedly attacking police officers and causing chaos outside the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) on March 18 when PTI Chairman Imran Khan appeared there for a court hearing.

Hours-long clashes were reported between PTI workers and the capital police on Saturday after the former prime minister arrived at the FJC to attend a hearing in the Toshakhana case.

In the violent confrontation, a contingent of law enforcers and PTI supporters used anti-riot gear against each other with teargas used from both sides to push the opposing side back. The PTI used rocks against the police alongside petrol bombs to set their vehicles on fire.

The Islamabad Police had also lodged a first information report (FIR) — including terrorism charges — against Imran and more than a dozen PTI leaders.

In a tweet today, the police accused PTI supporters of “incitement, arson, vandalism [and] attacks on police”.

It added that police teams were conducting further raids for more arrests and that the identification process of all suspects with the help of cameras was underway.

Aitzaz questions use of force in Zaman Park
PPP leader says incident has raised Imran’s stature

Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Aitzaz Ahsan on Wednesday questioned the use of force in Zaman Park.

Speaking to the media, he said that the police also entered his house in Zaman Park.

“What was the need for a force of thousands?” he asked. “Were they firing from the front?”

“When you knew that Imran Khan was not at home, then you became a lion and broke the door of his house,” he remarked. “I say to all politicians, what happened to one today will happen to another tomorrow.”

He wondered how would it feel if this crowd reaches the elite. The caretaker government has no power to take such action, he added.

The PPP leader said that the incident has raised Imran’s stature.

“Maryam Nawaz and Rana Sanaullah are gifts for PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI),” he added.

“Imran Khan should be punished for what he did against the law,” he added.

Ahsan said that he would advise everyone to agree on a date and hold the election.

“Write down my words, elections will be held and must be held on the same date as given by the Supreme Court (SC),” he said. “The governor does not even have the power of revision.”

He said that the army commander would also give troops, and the interior minister will also have to deploy Rangers.

“On the day they are called by the Supreme Court, everyone will stand politely and cautiously,” he added.

An Islamabad district and sessions court on Thursday sent Hassaan Niazi, the nephew of PTI Chairman Imran Khan, to jail on 14-day judicial remand in a case related to misbehaving with police officials.

Duty Magistrate Mureed Abbas rejected the police’s request for an extension in Niazi’s physical remand and said police had failed to recover anything from the suspect. He added that Niazi should be presented before the court on April 6.

Niazi was re-arrested on Monday in a separate case as he was leaving the Federal Judicial Complex (FJC) after securing pre-arrest bail in three cases.

A new first information report (FIR) — which relates to the alleged misbehaviour with officials — was registered against him at the Ramna police station.

A Quetta court on Saturday approved the bail of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s nephew and focal person Hassaan Khan Niazi, reported Express News.

The request for the physical remand of Niazi was rejected and the judicial magistrate granted the PTI leader bail against surety bonds worth Rs100,000, after which the police escorted Niazi away under tight security.

In a statement, the PTI chief's nephew said that his only fault was that he is Imran Khan's legal advisor.

Imran enjoys ‘fight’ against PDM govt amid crackdown on PTI

Amidst the ongoing crackdown on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers and leaders, the former prime minister and party chief Imran Khan has stated that he is enjoying the fight against the coalition government led by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

During an interview with Vice News, when asked if he is enjoying the fight against the government, Imran responded positively. He said, “Yes… because I think if I woke up and there was no challenge in my life, I would think it’s the end of my life.”

Imran Khan has been leading an anti-government agitation movement against the current government for quite some time. However, he ruled out the possibility of stepping aside from this movement at any point, stating that he is only concerned about one thing, and that is how to lift the country out of this quagmire.

Responding to a question about the objective of his anti-government movement, Imran stated that the purpose of the movement is to make people aware of their true freedom and fundamental rights. He went on to say that, in his 26 years of politics, this is the first time that he feels people have realised that they want true freedom.

Last year, there was an attempt on Imran Khan's life in Wazirabad. He reiterated his allegations that the threat of assassination is even more significant now, stating that the three people he knew were responsible for the attack are still in power. Without naming anyone, Imran claimed that those who hatched the conspiracy to kill him are more worried now, as they know that whenever the elections are held, his party is going to sweep them.

The ongoing crackdown on PTI workers and leaders has intensified in recent weeks, with many being arrested and detained. The opposition claims that this is a move by the government to suppress their voices and maintain their hold on power. However, the government denies these allegations and says that it is taking action against those who have violated the law.

‘Hundreds’ arrested in province-wide swoop on PTI activists

Punjab police in a province-wide crackdown arrested hundreds of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) workers, claiming to have averted chaos and violence and blocked roads to maintain law and order.

All the deputy commissioners had handed over lists of PTI workers to police for their arrests. The PTI workers were also tweeting videos of the police raids on their houses. The police could be seen standing outside the houses of PTI office-bearers.

Police raided the house of PTI leader Usman Dar in Sialkot who said that a team surrounded his residence so that the workers could not attend the Lahore event.

In another raid, Muzaffargarh police detained Azam Malik, chief reporter of daily Baithak Multan, for supporting PTI.
