In the 35th over! :)

35.3 Abdul Razzaq to Powar, one run, good length ball, Powar defends it,
ball takes the edge, Wicket Keeper fails to hold onto the edge.

Akmals fielding hasn't been so sharp recently !!!

Its rather concerning to see Akmal drop 2 catches in 2 consecutive games ... hopefully no blunders will be made in the ODI series ...

thats a bit harsh in my opinion. he has been quite good. still young...

From cricinfos description Nazir is moving the ball late and getting bounce, maybe he is as good as we think he is

well there is no vacancy in the team at the moment. rao deserves his place and has to be considered ahead of him for the time being.

nazir has to wait until one of rana, sami or rao performs real bad or is injured.

true unless some body performs badly you cant justify replacing them look at brett lee now he cant get in to the test side.

btw i think pakistanis are not playing this game seriously at all, otherwise the way hafeez and arshad have bowled, at least one spinner should have been bowling now. pakistanis just want to give everyone bowling practice. not saying that i have any problems with that, though.

i'd like to see Nazir ahead of rao ... rao hasn't done anything spectacular like lee to make us a think a lot ...

I think someone remarked in the test series that Akmal is a little suspect keeping against pace bowling - hopefully ( and seeing the commitment he has shown before ) , he will work on this - he is a great prospect for Pak and we must persist with him.

ok mcgrath hafeez also has specialties as a backward point fielder, he just ran out powar with a direct throw.

who do u compare him with now :)? :)?

rao bowled very well in the vb series, especially the way he bowled to ponting in the final was remarkable, ponting didnt have a clue to his bowling.

raina gone to rao, now i'd like to see rana wipe out the tail with some vicious yorkers (OK, well not "see", but rather the cricinfo commentary guy describe in vivid detail a 145 kph in-swinging yorker uprooting the stumps)

good luck with that!! :)

"vivid detail" - heheh

I was being sarcastic.

Anyway- based on cricinfo guy- Rana and Nazir both were threatening.
Hafeez, Rao and Arshad were very economical and Danish and Razzaq got smacked around.

IMO BW will go with Sami, Rana, Nazir, Hafeez, Razzaq and Afridi in a 6 man bowling attack.

I really hope Nazir gets a chance. he seems very threatening particulatly in the middle overs. Rao might miss out because he is good with the new ball and we already have two good new ball bowlers.

Hafeez opening with Salman - here we go again :(I

BWs faith in the batting of Hafeez is incomprehensible

BWs faith in the batting of Hafeez is incomprehensible

he showed the same faith in Malik and Younis Khan kashif and they turned out OK. perhapes you should hold off on the head banging :)

Malik and YK both had decent batting records before their recent success (ODI avgs in the 30's for both). Hafeez has an ODI avg of 17 in almsot 30 innings now.

Hafeez and Butt 7/0 after 5 overs (3 of those runs courtesy of wides).

So.. what did they tell salman?? if u can play 50 balls u are in the ODI team?? looks like from scorecard he's totally goign against his style of play!!2 from 25 and has Strike rate lower than... HAFEEZ!

Neone have a video link by any chance?

7.1 Bose to Salman Butt, FOUR, pitched up on the legs, glanced to the
fine leg fence -about time salman.

It really seems like salman has too much pressure on him - BW and Inzi should tell him to just go out there and play his natural game and not worry about his future in the squad.

Yaar - let the coach and cap work on their strategy - they want to get good quality nets - then this is a good idea - both players need to get a good feel of the bat and ball so thats what they are doing.

i hope hafeez does well today because we need a 6 th bowling option in odis

well the way the cricinfo guy is describing how many times they have gotten beaten and played mistimed shots - i am not at all feeling confident about these two.

Yes it would be great if these two can develop into a good opening pair, but a series versus our archrivals is not the time and place to experiment.

If you notice commentary from cricinfo, every single time hafeez is on strike its either: play and miss, ball beats the edge, beaten!, mistimed drived, bad leave as ball nearly hit stumps, beaten!, edge to third man for a single.

This guy is a usless batsman but his bowling is economical, maybe he should play at numer 9 or something

we dont want all our trump cards out in this match now do we... we dont want india to start conducting anlysis on our layers

4 from salman moves onto 13

12.5 Singh to Salman Butt, FOUR, pitched up, Hafeez slashes at the wide
one, ball takes the edge, falls short of the wicketkeeper and the
slip fielder and goes to the fence.

not the type of four salman should be scoring.

15 overs 40 runs (13 extras) its time these guys either turn it on - or get out.

This is how Hafeez bats period. No strategies involved. The domestic season ended not long ago thus he would be in practise. If you have any doubts kindly check his one day strike rate.

butt getting away with a close lbw but then plays a good shot for four. he's looking to up the tempo now perhaps :)

Ah well Hellooooo Mr Know it All - lets all leave the forum now :P :P :P

I think I will now assume the role of chief defender for Mo Hafeez - let it be known to all and sundry and Marooned !!

hafeez is playing rubbish where as butt has started to attack

15.4 Bose to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, good length ball, sharp rising
delivery, Hafeez moves on the front foot and tries to play at it,
gets beaten.
15.3 Bose to Salman Butt, three runs, pitched up on the legs, turned
away to the deep mid-wicket, there was chance for run out if Bose
had caught the ball.
15.2 Bose to Salman Butt, no run, defended on the back foot in front of
square leg.
15.1 Bose to Salman Butt, FOUR, Butt steps out and slams it to the
extra-cover fence.

End of over 15 (1 run) Pakistanis 40/0 (RR: 2.67 RRR: 150/30 = 5.00)

Salman Butt 16* (48b 2x4) Mohammad Hafeez 11* (44b 1x4)

14.6 Singh to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, Hafeez drives to mid-off, a good
looking drive.
14.5 Singh to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, short rising delivery, Hafeez on
the backfoot pushes at it, gets beaten.
14.4 Singh to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, good length ball on the stumps,
Hafeez moves forward and leaves it alone.
14.3 Singh to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, defended.
14.2 Singh to Salman Butt, one run, pushed to cover.
14.1 Singh to Salman Butt, no run, a good length ball, coming in, Butt
on the back foot, ball hits the pad, a loud appeal, turned down,
looked close.

End of over 14 (1 run) Pakistanis 39/0 (RR: 2.79 RRR: 151/31 = 4.87)
RR Bose 4-0-14-0 (6w 2nb) - North End
Salman Butt 15* (46b 2x4) Mohammad Hafeez 11* (40b 1x4)

13.6 Bose to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, good length ball, defended to
point, cover fielder runs in quickly a stops the batsmen from
taking a single.
13.5 Bose to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, good length ball, a touch wide,
left alone.
13.4 Bose to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, left alone.
13.3 Bose to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, short of length, movement away,

13.1 Bose to Mohammad Hafeez, no run, good length ball, swinging away,
left alone outside off stump.
13.1 Bose to Mohammad Hafeez, wide: no run, short and wide outside off
stump, left alone.

btw...i just realized we are playin with only THREE proper batsman!! :)) (Salman, Asim, and Malik!). Insane..

16.3 Singh to Salman Butt, no run, short of length, Butt on the backfoot
plays to the backward-point, Hafeez at the non-strikers takes off,
Butt stands his ground, a shy at the stumps from Venugopal Rao
misses the stump. Neeraj Patel at midwicket fields it and throws
the ball to the bowl

about time one of these clowns gets out !!

Let's hope shoaib malik puts up a better batting display!

Hafeez is not a opening batsmen ! the sooner woolmer realizes this the better its for the team !

We can have 6 bowlers even without hafeez

18.4 Bahutule to Shoaib Malik, SIX, tossed up, Malik Steps out and lofts
it wide of the long-on.

can u see the differences between malik and hafeez
malik and butt Current Partnership: 23 runs, 3.2 overs, RR: 6.90

Last Wicket: 47/1 (16.3 ov); Partnership RR: 2.85
Mohammad Hafeez run out (Patel) 11 (47b 1x4 0x6) SR: 23.40
hafeez is a really defensive player who can't even hit the ball even kamran akmal is better than him

Imagine if they started off like this, Maliks now releasing the pressure of Butt and hes ticking the scoreboard aswell, they would have been gud instead of cleaning up Hafeez' mess.

23.1 Powar to Shoaib Malik, SIX, Malik steps down and lofts it to the
midwicket fence.

secondsix for malik

25.1 Powar to Shoaib Malik, SIX, steps out and lofts it wide off the
long-on fence.

malik taking powar to the cleaners

yet another 6!!

25.1 Powar to Shoaib Malik, SIX, steps out and lofts it wide off the long-on fence.

25.2 Powar to Salman Butt, FOUR, short, Butt cuts it away behind point
to the fence.

butt joining in

salman is making a statement here i think he just want to play till the end. Maybe he has a low strike rate but he is still there and he will catch up

Good performance by Malik, i'm sure he's under pressure to keep his place in the team since he can't bowl.

maliks smashed 3 sixes and his strike rate 105 also malik has hit no 4's think that malik and butt should open if yk bats at 3 or u can have malik down the order razzak afridi malik all claen strikers of the ball will easily get u more than 100 runs in last 10 overs

Bahutule to Shoaib Malik, no run, Malik steps out and tries to
hoick it, mistimes it to midwicket.
28.4 Bahutule to Shoaib Malik, no run, tossed up, driven back, mistimes
it.

malik overdoing it

Rando is back with a bang

Well Well, he was not at his best in test matches atleast he is still our most effictive bowler at ODIs. Lets hope he does us proud in comming matches.

this is a good opportunity for Butt to play/ease himself back into form and it looks like he is doing just that!

30.5 Bahutule to Salman Butt, FOUR, steps out and lofts it over the deep
midwicket fielder

fifty for butt

Salman's 50. congrats. played well. i think so he was playing slowly today as we just have 6 batsman and basically 3 specialist batsman in Salman, Asim and Malik. Abdul wud have asked him to play till end and thats what he did. good job

31.6 Sriram to Shoaib Malik, no run, an uppish drive to extra-cover,
almost carried to VenuGopal Rao.

malik losing patience
