"Old school failed to accept that fielding improved over last 2 years" : Julien Fountain

There needs to be permanent improvement in fielding and it should not be linked to any coach. To improve fielding you need individual plans for each fielder at the FC level and then spend hours improving it. To that you need caches with each team and to that you need a coach to coach them.
I don't accept this nonsense that if a fielding coach leaves the players forget how to field.

Fielding coach won't improve that much. A player has to want to have that desire and that commitment to improve in the field. Shaheen has been international cricket for nearly 3 years and his fielding is still poor. How can you blame a coach for a player not improving in the field for 3 years? He knows he is a certainty to start in all 3 formats. There is no fielding culture in Pakistan, he has 0 motivation to improve it.

What magic wand did Steve Rixon have that the other coaches lack when it comes to delivering on fielding?

Well he had the backing of the Head Coach which meant the players couldn't go crying to Mickey or the PCB complaining about the fielding coach.

I think this was more to do with Steve Rixon and his methods than anyone else. Grant Bradburn had Mickeys backing as well but our fielding got worse under him. Even Mickey later complained to the PCB and public and attributed the decline in the team's fielding due to the departure of Steve Rixon

I hope someone can investigate what approach, methods Steve Rixon used with our boys that subsequent coaches are failing to replicate properly
