Opening ceremony for World Cup 2019

Guys I have seen no coverage or news about this? These days every major world sporting event has one, so it feel very strange and odd.

No it's not. Morgan referred to the score Pakistan made as about par, a fact that was probably true on a small ground with the boundary made even smaller due to the pitch being off-centre and a flat pitch. There was absolutely no reference to the England team in that context.

Opening cereomonies are usually far too long with a lot of rubbish in them. This one will be short so we can get on with the cricket!

The English don’t believe in pomp and show of opening ceremonies like the subcontinental countries or other places who spend crap ton on the show baazi.. there was no opening ceremony before the 1999 World Cup either.

In 2003 SA gave us an over the top ceremony though with naked tribals doing tribal stuff on the field. I had to cover my nephews eyes...

Ceremony before the first match is like how it’s done in FIFA WC, Football. I like it.

Cricket traditional had ceremonies taken place some days before the first match which is rather odd. Bringing all that hype and excitement then to wait more days for the actual tournament to start. Ceremony should always be before the first match

It felt like a dart compeition opening cermony. This cermony made cricket look cheap infact its not. How did ICC allow this?

this was definitely not what a ceremony should look like. Is it just me or this WC has very little buzz. ENG did a poor job marketing it!

I had the unfortunate pleasure of attending this yesterday. It was a complete shambles and poorly thought of.

It was basically a game of street cricket in the rain with shorter fans unable to view anything cause they couldn't see over other fans.

Was indeed a waste of a day!

2011 World Cup ceremony in Bangladesh was the best and will remain the best till 2023 where I can see India putting a huge grand ceremony on.

Right now 2011 is to beat. That was grand ceremony, brilliantly done. The laser cricket show, Captains being introduced coming in on rickshaw, different acts, all three nations got represented and even Pakistan wasn’t left out by the big hearted Runa Laila who sung Mast Kalandar. So everyone got a share.
