What's new

Over to you now Mohammad Amir

i watched the highlights, he bowled defensively, he wasn't swinging it like he did. Need Asif back in the game, he was a magician.

How many fifer did this 'greatest' get in test and ODI after his return (playing in most favorable conditions like Eng,nz) ??

You should stop hating on Mohammed Amir, your negative posts regarding Amir seems like you have a different agenda against the young talent. It's getting repetitive and it's like a hate crime now.

1st Innings he bowled 18 overs gave away 43 runs and took 3 wickets at an economy of 2.38
2ND innings 7 overs, 12 runs, 1 wicket with 2 maidens. Economy 1.71

We are traveling to Kiwiland soon, do we have any pacers who can better this? No, don't think so.

Amir is still 1000 times better than any Test pacers in Bangladesh. It's a fact.

Don't undermine Mustafizur, Bro. I think he is the best fast bowler from Asia currently. Can win you guys games singlehandedly.

Agreed, however, Amir at prime was perhaps the best fast bowler in the world. Hopefully he can hit that for soon again. We need to give him time.

Back to the topic of Bangladesh, Taskin is pretty good too. If he starts bowling 137-143 KPH consistently, I think he and Mustafizur could be an amazing pair of bowlers.

When was that prime exactly which made him the best fast bowler in world?

The 'Greatest' will always be better than anything put on a test field by a certain country known as B.A.N.G.L.A.D.E.S.H. in the next 50 years.

Most overrated and overhyped in 150+ years of cricket I guess, perhaps bettered only by W. G. Grace who was a proper bully because he was cricket's first star, and often refused to leave the pitch after getting dismissed because he would insist that the crowd is there to watch him only.

I wouldn't bet on it, Bangladesh has been progressing by leaps and bounds lately and surprising many

One good English season I suppose. Because you know, bowlers like Zaheer and RP Singh have not thrived before on such wickets.

Ever since his debut leading up to his ban.

Now, however, I think he falls in the same category as someone like Lakmal, Eranga, etc.

Since his debut to leading up to his ban, he was the best fast bowler in world? Sounds weird.

In his first 9 tests - he averages 41 with SR of 73. Then he got best conditions to bowl for next few tests and even in those conditions he was out bowled by other bowlers. How does that make him the best bowler in world leading up to his ban. Anyway, Steyn has been ruling the top spot by such a huge margin that you don't even have to think about the best bowler in world in the last 7-8 years.

Amir is not bowling badly now, but fans have unrealistic expectation from him despite not doing anything to justify those expectations.

He's a good bowler who's still a bit rusty. It's just that some delusional fans think that he's going to blast away lineups like Steyn/Johnson and even Broad/rabada can do on their day. He does not and never did have the ability to win matches singlehandedly.

Amir's length is the most worrying sign. He's bowling Wahab's length practically without Wahab's pace. I think it's a confidence issue first and foremost. When you pitch the ball up, you get hit more often and you leak runs and he's afraid to take that risk right now. He's bowling what I call a "safe length". However the safe length will not allow you to take 5 wickets in an innings.

What Amir needs to do now is just forget about runs and look for wickets. Automatically we'll see a change in length. The problem I see is that he has a captain in Misbah who's prime method of winning is choking off the runs. Make no mistake about it, I love Misbah to death and his captaincy but his captaincy isn't suited to someone like Amir who's a wicket-taking bowler but looks like has been forced to be more patient in his wickets by trying to choke off runs. He needs to be let loose basically.

On another note, I see a lot of PPers rate Mustafizur as the best left arm bowler out there in Asia. I really don't find him to be a world class bowler right now. The guy only has one variation, the slower ball which is indeed world class. But that's about it. He comes wide of the crease and he gets that natural slant away from the right handers. But I haven't seen him bring one ball back into the right handers. You can't possibly be world class if you can't move the ball both ways. You can only be good. The guy also hasn't played much outside of Bangladesh. Another case of making a bowler great after 5 matches.

I expected more from him in the 1st Test in NZ.

Yes in England he was a bit rusty and there was pressure on him and the wickets weren't green tops etc but at Christchurch there was no excuse.

Yes he took 4 wickets in the match but largely his bowling was ineffective, the wrong length and his pace in the second innings was around 130kph which is worrying.

Better spell than anything Amir has bowled since his comeback.

Fast becoming the best wicket-less pacer in the world, a title that Wahab holds at the moment.

My favourite Amir (2009-2010) has two innings to impress. If he doesn't than Selection Committee have to drop him else selection committee needs to be fired. If Amir performs in next Text ie takes more than 6 wickets at an Ave of under 26 fine retain him else drop him. 3 Test series are enough. Cricket cannot be played on reputation alone. If you perform you stay. If you don't you need to be replaced. Optimum performance is needed.

Today it was like watching a guy playing international cricket for the first time and have no idea what he is supposed to do.

Fine leg up, so he bowls down the leg side.

Third man up, so he bowls wide of off stump.

he is false flag

Not the same bowler of 2009-10.

I will take broken Amir over Rahat, Sohail and Imran Khan.

I don't get the fuss, he was never a match winner, he was and is just a decent bowler, his 2 or 3 good shows in Eng/Lanka were also followed by lot of hammerings elsewhere in 2009-10.He is still Pakistan's best pacer by a country mile

The fuss is the guy has no 5'fer in a year of International cricket he has played in any format.. the guy is completely clueless on how to bowl on flat tracks and bowls a negative line...

gets tonked for 17 in an hour and has zero performance or attitude of a fast bowler...

his pathetic line and length cost Pakistan the match yesterday

Labelled the new Wasim Akram.
Bowling like the new Mohammad Sami.
