Because a lot of them are currently playing international series. The window for PSL we get is unfortunate.

Not excited about watching any of the current overseas players signed by PSL. It is time to move on from the likes of Gayle, McCallum, Watson, etc.

Bhai itnay hi kaafi hain.. waisay hi apne youngsters ko khelnay ko nahi milayga.

True. People seem to forget that there are only five teams

Also.. While CPL had some big ticket names such as Steyn and AB, the overall player quality is higher in PSL. And those big names came also primarily due to Indian influence and trying to prop it up to make sure PSL doesn't progress big time

The Big Four - Kohli, Root, Smith, Williamson.

de Kock - best WK batsman in the world.

Amla - would be fun to see him fail miserably in yet another tournament.

de Villiers - would be fun to see him play some iconic innings but end up on the losing side as usual.

Starc, Rabada - best fast bowlers in the world.

Also, Warner, Buttler and Maxwell.

I'm only going to mention those, that were in the draft and didn't get picked.

Wanted Anderson, Mark Wood and potentially, Broad to be there (especially since Finn has been picked).

mitchell johnson was asked to take part, but he declined and that is kind of disrespectful to the PSL, so don't know why his name is being mentioned here.

3 of those "big four" are mediocre t20 batsmen especially Williamson

Mitchell Johnson is way past his sell-by date, quite surprised he is still refusing gigs like the PSL. Considering that the offers will be few and far in-between now.

Much worse T20 players like playing in the PSL, and they are massive names with considerable fan following. PSL will be much better off with players like Root, Smith and Williamson playing. It will grow in stature.

PSL is not IPL who can ignore big names because they aren't great in T20s.

Exactly.

He shouldn't even be asked next year and if he is (knowing the pcb), then I hope all the franchises ignore him and even if he is in the silver category.

Johnson's bread and butter is the IPL now. I think it's a precautionary move because he doesn't want to injured/fatigued by playing in the beggar's IPL only a couple of months before the real tournament.

^^

In that case, he should decline next year is well because of burnout or fear of injury.

Root averages 32 at 126, HS of 92*
Smith averages 29 at 126, HS of 101
Williamson averages 28 at 119, HS of 101*
These are not mediocre numbers by any means.

Still love how someone who would walk into any t20i side in the world and averages 40.33 @ 130.10 in t20is gets called mediocre after just 2 poor innings :root:.

Probably will. We can hate him for it but it makes sense from his perspective.

There is no competition between the IPL and PSL and there is no point in him playing in the latter if he feels that he will not be in prime condition for the former. He will be 36 this year and might only have a couple of IPL seasons left in him, could turn for the PSL at some point in the future but I don't think we will be in a position to say no.

I certainly hope so.

Also, guys like Gayle and KP are much bigger than him, hence I don't think the PSL needs him to raise its profile.
