He knows he really has two attacking weapons, and he doesn't want to tire them both at the same time. So he's going to bowl Colleymore to attack while Gayle can defend from the other end. When Colleymore tires, it will probably be Taylor with Powell which will keep the pressure on us. Smart captaincy especially considering he's a bowler short.
