Pakistan’s batting preparations for 2019 World Cup as compared to the 2015 edition of the tournament

4 years on after the disastrous, depressing batting order consisting of Nasir Jamshed, Ahmad Shahzad, Misbah ul Haq and Umar Akmal...it looks like Pakistan have a top 6 (Barring Sarfaraz) that can match the heavyweights of the world. This is the best batting side I have seen produced by Pakistan entering a World Cup.

Imam the anchor
Fakhar the enforcer
Babar and Harris, lazy elegance and quality
Asif Ali the punisher in preparation
Imad the finisher
Hassan the slogger!

Feeling highly optimistic now. Well done Micky and co!

World domination awaits kick on!

Continued losses and a couple of 350 scores on very flat wickets can do this to the mind.

Things can change pretty quickly hold your horses

People are thinking too much of the cliche of English conditions.

All tracks are flat pancakes in England barring Old Trafford

Good couple of outings now.

But let’s wait til England bat. When Imam is batting with SR of 100+ the wicket has to be a road. But if Pakistan can win here then we might have something going. Let’s pray.

I think this 5 ODI series against the hosts is perfect prep, very good for Pakistan to get a good look at players in a competitive atmosphere against quality opponents. Not happy with Shoaib Malik being in the squad though.

West Indies almost chased 410 against England recently are they an awesome batting line up now?
One swallow doesn't make a summer and it doesn't matter if the team scores 450 but still loses it isn't good enough.

You are missing the point entirely. This thread isn't about Pakistan being the best batting line up, its simply about the improvement that Pakistan have shown in the last 4 years going into a world cup where Batting has to be exceptional.

There’s no comparison. In 2015 we still had that God awful 250 mindset. We’ve come a long way when it comes to batting

Yes it's a better line up than 2015 that was bad Misbah lost the plot as far as selecting the top order.
However if the team is still losing it matters less the most important thing is winning matches.

Haris Sohail was our only good batsman in the 2015 World Cup.

We had Ahmed shehzad, Younis khan, Misbah, Sarfraz, maqsood, akmal, Afridi. Yikes

Pakistan's best batsman in 2015 is their worst batsman in 2019. That's how far this team has come.

Not sold on Haris though. And Imad needs to actually finish a few games. Hasan should be batting above Faheem.

The batting will be exposed again when the par score is below 300 anything under 340 is below par on these wickets.

Pitches are flat. Even if the batting has hypothetically "improved", what about the degradation in the bowling?

Pakistan will have a better chance at winning on tracks with seam movement. Our batters are limited when it comes to exploiting flat tracks and small boundaries.

But in challenging conditions, our bowlers can thrive and the disparity between our batters and world class batters isn't so high.

Pitched has helped our batsmen so I won’t say our batters have done something great

The batting hasn't improved much the pitch is easy to bat on scoring 350 isn't an awesome achievement.

thats why i put it in "quotes". pakistan batting isnt as good as it seems and bowling is not as bad as it seems. might make the semis alongside ind, eng, oz with some effort. most prolly will end up 5-6.
