What's new

Pakistan (135/8) defeat Bangladesh (124/9) by 11 runs in a nail-biting encounter of the virtual semi-final of the Asia Cup 2025

Bro NGL I have no idea how we did it.

Performance poor, selections random, captain clueless at times, bowlers becoming batsmen, batsmen bowlers, Shaheen all rounder again , and here we are.

Alhumdulilah so happy for the team.

insha'Allah we pull off a heist on Sunday and then the celebrations will be legendary.

Same Old Story

PCT did absolutely nothing about what we were told. The fearless approach. Modern day Cricket . All talk and scrapping to wins with individual brilliance. Story of Ages for Pakistan Fans . Following the process and set approach that we have heard so many times from Agha , we never saw that in field

Better than scraping to loses against USA bro

In T20 you just need some players to man up at key times.

And some of these boys played out of their skin when the situation called for it.

It does nt work

It did nt work in 2021 Semi

It did nt work in 2022 Asia cup Final

It did nt work in 2022 Wc final

And it most likely will not work on Sunday

Have faith bro stay positive

The players responsible for not making it work then are gone now. These lads have a chance to make history.

Let's back them and see what happens.

Inspired bowling performance by Pakistan. But you really have to question the decision-making of the Bangladesh batsmen too.

We know what is waiting on Sunday. But I would be very glad if we all are proven wrong on Sunday. India has made Asian cricket boring. Only win win win win.....I just hate them.
Toh khud ki game improve karo na, why hating? You have a decent economy, large population, and a rich board. invest in infra, build decent stadiums, you even manage to almost destroy one world class stroke player that you have, Litton Das, by making him play in that Mirpur swamp.

Pakistan twice got out of jail in Super4!!

First, while chasing a small total (133) against Sri Lanka. collapsed to 4/57 and then 5/80.

Today, while defending a meagre total (135).. It all looked lost at 55/5. I am sure even the most optimistic fans had given up at that stage.

The lower order rescued us with crucial 80 runs in the last 8 overs.

Sensible batting by Haris (for a change!) and good captaincy by Salman Agha

Saim's 4th 'boiled egg' in the Asia Cup ... a major worry. somewhat bailed himself out with those two wickets. However, his primary role is to make runs at the top of the order. He's too good a player to be repeatedly failing like this. Just seems low on confidence. Once again, got out to a reckless aerial shot.

SSA was brilliant with both bat and ball. Haris played his part.

BD batsmen just needed to bat sensibly, taking 1s and 2s, with a boundary here and there. Taking nothing away from Pak bowlers, but many of their (BD) batsmen got out to reckless aerial shots. Poor shot selection at crucial moments cost them the match. This is what pressure can do to you.

No, not undisputedly at all.
Correct. Pakistan crawled to victories in 2/3 super 4 matches and lost one badly against India. They are not better than Afghanistan, SRL and Bangladesh. Pakistan even got lucky against UAE, otherwise their campaign would have ended in the first round.

Why did those teams not scrape to victory?

Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf starred with both ball and bat as Pakistan clinched a thrilling 11-run victory over Bangladesh in the ACC T20 Asia Cup Super-Four clash at Dubai International Stadium on Thursday night, securing a spot in the final against India.

Defending a modest total of 135, Pakistan’s pace duo combined for impressive figures of 6 for 50 in eight overs, marking their second-lowest successful T20I defense against Bangladesh.

Shaheen set the tone early, dismissing Parvez Hossain Emon for a duck—his 22nd first-over wicket in T20Is—and then removing Towhid Hridoy (5), leaving Bangladesh at 23-2 in 4.2 overs. Haris Rauf followed up by removing Saif Hassan (18) on the first ball of the sixth over, with Bangladesh ending the powerplay at 36-3.

Mohammad Nawaz chipped in by dismissing Mahedi Hasan (11) in the eighth over, reducing Bangladesh to 44-4. A brief resistance came from Nurul Hasan (16) and Shamim Hossain (30), who added 19 runs before Nurul fell to Saim Ayub. Saim continued his fine form, removing captain Jaker Ali (5) in the 14th over.

Shaheen returned to end Shamim’s gritty knock in the 17th over, and Haris struck twice in the 18th, leaving Bangladesh at 101-9. Haris then held his nerve in the final over, defending 23 runs to seal the win. Saim Ayub finished with figures of 2 for 16 from four overs, taking his tournament tally to eight wickets.

Earlier, Pakistan’s innings got off to a rocky start, losing both openers within the first 10 balls for just five runs. Fakhar Zaman (13) and Salman Ali Agha steadied briefly, taking the score to 27-2 by the end of the powerplay. However, wickets continued to tumble, with Pakistan at 49-5 in 10.5 overs.

Shaheen Afridi contributed a vital cameo of 19 off 13 balls, including two sixes, before falling to Taskin Ahmed. Mohammad Haris (31) and Nawaz (25) stitched together a crucial 38-run stand for the seventh wicket, pushing Pakistan past the 100-run mark.

Despite late blows from Mahedi and Taskin, Faheem Ashraf’s final-over contributions helped Pakistan reach 135-8. Taskin ended with 3 for 28, while Mahedi and Rishad each claimed two wickets.

When it comes to how we’d fare facing India in the final, I had higher hopes from our team before this match was played. Such was this match.

Both teams played a pathetic game - BD was just slightly worse

To all the real ones who stood with Pakistan through the thick and thin. Those who stood with Agha, Hesson, Harris, Saim, Fakhar, Sahibzada etc.

Congratulations to you all. We made it to the final of a big tournament without two guys who were dragging us down! This one is for you!

“The North Remembers”

“What is dead will never die”

No one can dismiss this effort. People need to remember Pakistan lost to USA in the last WT20 and lost to Zimbabwe in the 2022 WT20 under Babar's leadership + RizBar opening horror show.

If the journalist who released the news is serious and isn’t just expressing his personal desire…

Then I hope Pakistan exit the tournament today and be done with it!

Sorry but it is impossible for me to support this side if it’s being run through likes and popularity and not on cricketing merit!

Babar and Rizwan have no business in T20s! They have proven to be selfish for over 5 years!!

Oh I'm up to speed now.

If true, I bet they'll replace Saim and M Haris under the bus.

In sha Allah, Mike Hesson will tease the Rizbar backside consumers and play them exclusively against minnows but will discard them in tournaments such as WT20 and Asia Cup.

Sorry Bangladesh fans but I wanted to see Bangladesh lose just so Athar Ali Khan's volume would be turned down. He was so over-excited on commentary during the first innings...it was a bit laughable how much he sounded like a fan, rather than a commentator.

It’s a way below par score whatever we get.

Bangladesh have chased 168 here, so they are romping home here.
Generally you’re good with predictions but today got 2 wrong first if Pak could go above 120 and then also predicted an easy bangla win. Anyone can get it wrong just highlighting because I like your analysis. Cheers.

One of the moments of the match was when Hesson came down and told Agha to tell Shaheen to bowl a slower ball. Next ball Shaheen bowls a back-of-the-hand slower ball to Shamim who hits it straight into the fielder's hands.

To think they broadcast their whole plan on live TV. :ssa

Lol, I wished he was commentating at the fag end of the match when all hope was lost for bangla. Athar is like a fanboy who has accidentally stumbled into the broadcast booth

A big Thank You to Bangladesh for making Asian Cricket exciting with premature celebrations and inability to win absolutely anything worth.
The true giants of pure entertainment!

Love the Bangladeshi spirit. Keep it up. 🇧🇩

It was very disappointing to see them not chase down 136. 136 is generally a walk in the park for a chasing team in Dubai.

I think they started off very negatively. They were blocking or slogging. No in between. All they had to do was take singles and doubles (with occasional boundaries).

If India beat SL tomorrow, BD finish 3rd in the Asia Cup. If SL win, BD finish 4th.

It really does feel a sorry state when all the Asian teams feel like minnows except India who is the best team. I’d rather even prefer a side like Sri Lanka to be good if we Pakistan can not.

In comparison England, New Zealand, Australia, South Africa all quality sides.
It is indeed a sorry state of affair

Too many dot balls at the start. I’d say towards the end, Jaker’s dismissal was most disappointing. The half-hearted slog and losing his grip on the bat. You’d expect to see better from the captain.

Bangladesh beat sl, and gave both pak and ind a run for their money. Overall a good show by bd though I can imagine that bd fans expect and deserve more from their team now.

BD are ranked #9 or #10 in T20 ranking. So, finishing 3rd would be an okay performance I guess.

Bowling was very good in this Asia Cup. They gave everyone a good fight with the ball; even Indians could only manage 168.

Batting was garbage. Batting was associate-level. Need to improve batting big time.

Also, lots of dropped catches. Need to improve it also.

I give BD's performance a B+ considering their low T20 ranking.

I’d say kudos to BD for not even mentioning the part about tough scheduling.

If my team had to play two critical matches back to back like that and lost, I’d do a bit more hue and cry about it.

Bangladesh is hopelessly behind in this format. I don't watch BD matches a lot. They look a lot worse with bat than few years back. Lack of application, commonsense was shocking.

Couldn't watch the game. I am flabbergasted and extremely frustrated after today's game. If they had lost easily it would've been one case, but to play game like this way is another thing.

Extremely frustrated with BD management, players, and coaches. Sorry to say but BD Cricket team don't deserve the fanbase they got. I am going to take break from following BD Cricket for a while.

Him and Sunil Gavaskar both

They were consoling each other instead of commenting on the game as neutrals

Bowling has improved quite a lot from the days of running Al Amin and what not. However, 50% I feel BD management are to blame for most of the losses. Their batting approach and application today was downright pathetic.

Hridoy bottled 2 games

Looks like the guy is not cut for big games.

Shamim was decent.

My favourite player was Nurul today

What an entertainer!

So much athleticism for being an absolute joke tbh :ROFLMAO:

Had to be one of the easiest chase. None of the bowling looked threatening. Shaheeen was bowling length balls. Almost all of them could have been tapped for singles and twos. Saim Ayub was bowling utter tripe. Can't believe they let him get away with cheap overs.

Emon has been a shell of himself. He was very impressive in the home series against Pakistan…

Dropped a catch, maybe 2…those extra runs playing on his mind.

Then hands Shaheen his wicket in the first over for none.

I honestly dont know what is wrong with them not just players but management, coaches and players themselves. I can bet you even if they had to chase 110, they would've lost.

Last year in the World T20 they had a great opportunity to go Semifinal against AFG. They bottled that up too with cowardice batting.

I think it's better if BD were to go back to 2000 ERA, because at that time many folks were not even following lol.

You need its and bits players in T20. Pakistan bats all the way to like #10. I always knew BD's 6-5 Test match style combination will never ever work.

All this time pak fans have been going after Hesson for his preference for bits and pieces players. I think moving Shaheen higher up made the batting look deeper than it is.

India did not win final because of that long tail for a long time. In 2024 they changed it. 8 batsmen 6 bowlers. Result has changed dramatically. Heck they used the same formula even in Tests in England. India was 211/5 at Edgbaston Gill added 344 runs with Sundar and Jadeja. In ODIs they won the CT. Batting depth makes even average team look better. The theory is simple. If you have 8 batsmen odds of 2 batsmen clicking is very high.

Pakistan always had bits and pieces right? Shadab, SHaheen, Naseem, Nawaz they were all part of the 2022 set up.

@BDfanforever @sweep_shot @Mas-LFC @Mainul

Honestly, you guys should be ashamed of your team.

Ashamed? Why? I am not playing for Bangladesh. :inti

I would be ashamed if I am playing in a team and that team is losing.

I have no input or output as far as BD cricket goes. I am just a spectator.

If anything, I am an ex-Canadian domestic player. I used to play league cricket in Canada.

So, no reason to be ashamed as I am not playing for BD or coaching BD. LOL!

From now on every BD-SRL game I am going to support SRL. They at least have capabilities to win Championship, and BD is standing between them for no reason.

Thinking back, thank God BD lost SRL in 2022.

I don’t consider Shaheen a bits and pieces player at all. I mentioned him with reference to the tail looking shorter because of his promotion.

Bits and pieces are khushdil, talat, faheem, agha, types who may be demoted in batting or not get to bowl without anyone blinking an eye.

Another thing I notice. All the main BD players always goes missing during big series or tournaments. Either they get injured, have some family emergency, or lose their form at the wrong time.

Litton can now play useless series against Zimbabwe, Afghanistan, Ned, or whatever.

Hopefully we get CT 2017 vibes and win

Or they are just not that good.

Bangladesh lost today due to the drop catches esp of Shaheen and Nawaz..Those catches would have bundled pakistan to less than 100..the fielding standards was way lower than what they did against India..maybe due to b2b matches..

That is true, but the batting approach was completely ridiculous. There really is no excuse for not being able to chase down 135. I honestly dont think they would be able to chase down 100 runs in a Final match.

These guys fail to chase down 2 runs from 3 balls one time against IND. Also, against SRL they would've almost comically lost in the last over.

They are #9 ranking T20 side, no one is saying they are good.

Your comment suggested that this was not a tournament team.

But they don't exactly do anything in bilaterals outside of Mirpur, either.

They lost to UAE and USA in the last 1 year.

The problem is clearly not one of your best players not turning up in tournaments

It's just that your best is simply not good enough even in bilaterals

TBH no one expected BD to come this far..Ban batting got exposed in the last match against India itself..w.r.t bowling i felt Bang bowled better than Pakistan.. despite their terrible batting they were only 11 runs short which wouldn't have been the case if they had taken either of Shaheen or Nawaz wicket..

Bilaterals are counted in the ranking. But yes, it is failure of BCB for not being able to manage players as they transition from u19 to big league.

You have overrated Under 19 World Cups ever since BD won one.

They literally mean nothing.

Chalo, no issues.

Zawad Abrar is the next coming of Lara

Bowlers did their job and Thanks to Bangladesh batters for being pathetic. A sensible knock from 1 guy would have sealed the deal bu they choked big time

Thats because that is the only tournament we seem to do well. I would say we are favorite for next Edition whenever that happens.

We probably would've won if we Zawad today. :kp

No one’s said it yet, so here’s the elephant in the room. Bangladesh’s performance yesterday raised serious alarms for anyone paying attention. Felt more like a collaboration than competition. Here are some obvious red-flags that I noticed -
  • Multiple dropped catches in pressure overs, sometimes twice an over. Some being thrown out of the boundary rope.
  • Throws sent to the wrong end on clear run-out chances, looking blatantly intentional.
  • Crucial front-foot no-balls at pivotal moments.
  • Dot-balls, zero strike rotation, dumb shots straight to fielders while chasing 136!
The chase was nothing but a self-sabotage script, just like their efforts in the field. So my question is, should this performance by Bangladesh be investigated? Opinions please.

If anything, their performance versus india should be investigated - not necessarily this one but many other prior tournaments where modi's puppet was PM of BD

Naah, Bangladesh batsmen are just not good enough.

Saif Hassan was their only good batsman and he batted well and got out on a good ball.

Litton is good but was injured.

Their peak was the 2015-19 era when Mahmudullah, Tamim, Shakib, Mushfiq were all solid batsmen.

The 2024 series win in Pak is the capping point of that gen.

I request you and people to follow two things.

- Stick to the topic.
- Keep the politics away.

Thank you.

When we look at everything in isolation , it can happen. But when everything comes together like a Michelin star recipe, there's some serious cooking going on behind the scenes brother.

Let me also add that it's a shame that such investigative threads are merged based on who is speaking. My voice has been silenced and it's sad.
