What's new

Pakistan (140/6) defeat South Africa (139/9) by four wickets to seal the 3-match T20I series by 2-1 margin

He’s averaging 70 odd in the red ball fc season

He’s a proper batter for all conditions!

I like Usman but how has the guy had a proper chance to prove we need him more?

Haris's FC average was 19 before this season of QeT -- he's doing well this season but he really needs to grind it out a bit longer in domestic imo before he is given a chance in international again. 2-3 good matches in QeT does not change a trend.

Looks like we are heading back to route 1 rubbish…

Babar looks good, and everyone else just accepts they are crap!

Congratulations @Rana for winning the series . Today Babar performance is pretty good, now he is going to okay World T20 2026 .

Now Wait for Rizwan comeback before World T20.

Amir and Ramiz teamed up for the most horrible commentary in cricket.

It was apt that this match took place the day after Halloween. They murdered commentary today.

I wouldn't be surprised if the match referee reports Usman Tariq's action in the coming days. He's clearly a chucker and batta mar bowler :klopp :kp

The biggest injustice in this series was against Hasan for not providing any opportunity to open with Sahibzada in the absence of Fakhar while Saim struggled.

Pakistan made some radical changes in good faith to keep pace with the rest of the world. When you do that you pick the best 15 in the country based on roles and pick the captain. They picked one of the worst possible T20 batsman as captain. Then they didn't quiet evaluate the skill level of individuals.

An absolutely diabolical knock from Babar which will paper under the cracks, chasing 140 odd did you really expect anything less; this was easy peasy for someone who bats well within his shell, he used the PP to get himself in and we finished the game way too late. The last T20I is where we want to be, take advantage of the PP and go real hard at such totals / finish in clinical fashion. Agha is perfectly fine to do Babar’s job for him & he leads positively for the team. T20’s are just not for Babar and you’re in for a rude awakening once more in the T20I World Cup, you never learn, fresh & the gang will get humiliated again but they will keep supporting this fraud over the country.

Picking Babar has ruined our balance though after all the positive steps forward, this will haunt Pakistan in the WC

Babar is unfit for modern T20. So backing him will not get you anywhere. But backing Salman Agha will sink you even further. I am not even sure what his role is? Finisher? Stabilizer? Floater? So far he sucks in everything. Does he have beastly PSL records? He more often than not looks clueless against spin worse than Babar. Doesn't have timing or range.

Problem is those intent merchent hasn't done anything special so far. they got not one but three chances against India in the Asia Cup and they failed miserably.

Faheem Ashraf | Player of the Series: Like how I spoke yesterday, there's a role for me in the team, whether it is bowling, batting or fielding. Even if I don't get batting or bowling, I will try to help the team with my fielding. I get an edge when I bowl because I think like a batter. When a batter expects me to bowl slow, I try to go pace-on. Sometimes I go against what a batter thinks and sometimes I go with what he thinks. Whatever the team wants me to do, I will do it.

Babar Azam | Player of the Match: The way Lahore crowd supported me this innings was due, the team believed in me, I believed in myself and thanks to Allah it happened today. In every aspect there is pressure, my focus was on how to better and how to help the team. Whatever the situation demanded, I go according to it. I worked on my strengths, improved my weaknesses. The ball was gripping at the start, me and Agha had a chat that we should see off the spinners. And then when the fast bowlers came on, we wanted to take it deep. (on the crowd shouting his name when the opener gets out) These are our players too, please support them like you have supported me, keep supporting Pakistan.

IN a way picking inept Salman Agha was the primary reason why Babar could easily waltz back into this side. His role was to hold one end up and let others attack. He himself looked clueless. Pakistan needed some stability. Unspririsngly they went back to Babar.

Not convinced, S Africa sent their 2nd team

Jansen
Markram
Miller
Rabada
Stubbs
Coetzee
Rabada, Miller and Stubbs for sure

Reeza is as good as Markram in white ball cricket.

Jansen is not as effective on subcontinental pitches

Bosch > Coetzee (average T20I record)

However, this target should have been achieved in 15-16 overs

The collapse towards the end made the win seem less convincing..

without Babar’s contribution we might have lost this game! Such collapsable is our batting..

Babar crippled Pakistan not just with his batting, but with his leadership & now politicking. If we’re going to have accumulators in the team it should only be one and Salman can fill that void; yes, ideally, he should be leading Pakistan in ODI’s and is more suited there and/or Tests. However, his leadership has been a breath of fresh air, he hasn’t prioritised his buddies or hijacked certain batting positions in the line-up, we’ve seen the wider Pakistan talent pool being given a go with a big focus on playing with intent and transitioning to modern T20 cricket after being stuck in the stone ages, our bench is looking much better to and we’ve actively tried to maximise the PP overs and there are still some areas to get better but the desire is there unlike under Babar’s regime; I saw nothing in his batting today which suggests he finally understand T20’s, it was a purely selfish knock and unfortunately, Salman’s positive captaincy benefited him with this low total chase where he took all the time in the world to score his runs & pad his stats, for 90% off the top teams he would never be selected to bat like that.

No he's not. Frankly, there's no comparison between the two.

There are atleast dozen collapses with this line up in this year alone. Almost like even 20 overs is too many overs for this line up. Most of the guys had an average stay of 8 or 9 balls. Farhan stayed long. But hurt the team with dot balls. Md Nawaz is the only one who looked decent in recent times. But for few cameos from Shaheen this unit would have fared even worse. With or without Babar this unit is still woefully inadequate. Babar's return is purely on Agha and co. Had he scored some runs in Asia cup things may have been different. He was pretty much clueless with bowling changes. In one match he did not use Nawaz at all. IN anothe rmatch he did not use Faheem at all. He has no real command over his seniors like SHaheen, Rauf. They do whatever they want.

"he hasn’t prioritised his buddies or hijacked certain batting positions in the line-up," - You think Shaheen Afridi as a captain would do that? Shaheen atleast merits his place in the side.
